I couldn't watch the flashback to the kitchen where Abigail got her throat slit. Once was enough. It wouldn't be a season of Hannibal without Abigail getting her throat slit by a father figure!

There hasn't been quite as much dark humor so far this season, but "That may have been impulsive" made me laugh a lot.

There hasn't been quite as much dark humor so far this season, but "That may have been impulsive" made me laugh a lot. The smug little "technically, you killed him" had me rolling.
Seems like the next episode is going to explain what happened during the eight months between Will waking up and going to Europe. Very much looking forward to it, and excited for the characters who will be showing up again! Especially Faceless Mason. Also, the clips I've seen of the Red Dragon arc look amazing, and based on Fuller's interviews on it it's going to be one of the saddest and most haunting story arcs the show's ever done. Can't come soon enough.

Crying all the sad cannibal tears: my beloved nightmare fuel cannibal show will not have a season 4. tvline.com/2015/06/22/hannibal-cancelled-nbc-season-4/ at least, not on NBC -- there's still a chance it could get picked up elsewhere? And they will, I'm 99% sure, finish airing this season. I am still le sad.

HANNIBAL, EFF!
Praying if a platform picks it up, they immediately cut a deal with MGM, allowing Fuller et al to soft reboot the show with Silence of the Lambs.

Man, this sucks so bad. I've never been so sad for a cancellation before, I'm nearly crying here.

If a streaming service doesn't pick them up I'd be very, very surprised. Terrible news either way.

A friend just told me they'd read that Fuller said he got offers when they were on the bubble last year, if that's true then we're in good shape.

Amazon already has the streaming rights and the cash to buy them. Possible contender?

Last cancellation to get me this way was Community after season 3 (okay, it wasn't technically cancelled, but season 4 was not the same show). I'm hoping against hope that the speculation that it's gonna get picked up by Netflix/Amazon/whatever is correct. The theory Carade posted makes sense. I just hope it's right.

If Amazon passes, possibly the Food Network?

Interesting piece (from Myles McNutt) about Hannibal's odds of getting picked up by various outlets: cultural-learnings.com/2015/06/23/handicapping-hannibals-future-netflix-amazon-hulu/The TL;DR takeaway is that NBC didn't so much cancel it as Gaumont lost their US distributor. The way it's financed led to a tricky web of deals around the world, and what they really need is a US distributor, but a lot of the streaming services are only interested if they can distribute it internationally too. There's still hope, but it's more complicated than people might think.

I'm not great at subtext or anything, but Margot and Alana totally fucked in the stables, right?

Margo/Alana - heavily implied that's coming later. (Uh, no pun intended.)
Oh, my god, Jack and Bella just totally wrecked me. Not least of which because they're actually married in real life.
Could have done without more faceless Mason, though.

Well, yes, but that's pretty par for the course, isn't it? And honestly they don't seem to promote it that well.

Was immensely impressed with how different Alana looked facially: aged by her trauma below the surface level (and those pesky marrow traces changing her personality), her face has a completely different set to previously. Brava to Caroline Dhavernas for the subtlety of that (and the unsubtlty of her letching after Katharine Isabelle!).

Yeah, that was a nice touch from Caroline Dhavernas, but they also changed her hair, and her clothes are a lot more austere and androgynous. Maybe this is a stupid question, but why would marrow in her blood change her personality? It seems implausible and weird to me. This was a gorgeous episode though, my favourite so far.

As I said over at the Old Country, it was wonderful having Mason back and I think Joe Anderson did a fantastic job.
Really glad this season's starting to heat up- I loved the first few episodes but they were a bit slow-moving and it's nice that the show's blood seems to be pumping again. Now that I think about it, this might be one of my favorite episodes of the entire series- just pure character development in the best way.
Edit: I looked it the ratings and now I'm depressed- in spite of everything, they've dropped even further. This show deserves so, so much better.
