Article seems to miss the point that NBC spends money promoting the show. Well, yes, but that's pretty par for the course, isn't it? And honestly they don't seem to promote it that well. Articles I've read seem to be saying, why do the international distributors think having NBC on board is so important? And then this article says NBC is only paying a few 100K anyway. I guess it seems like some people might be missing the point that having that show on NBC is more than a vote of confidence by old line media, it also brings effective attention to the show with promotion. But, like, you said, they didn't do much. Did the actors go on talk shows? That's another part of the US behemoth the world seems to esteem. I don't know because I cannot watch an actor on a talk show! I've read more perceptive interviews about US shows in Canadian newspapers online, but one spread in U.S. magazine probably does a lot more for a show internationally. There's also a thing where having a show on a major, cheeseball U.S. network negates the "eat-your-vegetables" stigma of quality dramas. If Hannibal goes to Netflix it's the equivalent of it going to PBS as far as that goes. For some reason I've paid a lot of attention to Canadians' response the U.S. culture, even though I don't like up there. The exasperation your hear from people talking about CBC television is something like a, for me, infamous clip of Katharine Isabelle in the period piece Falling Angels, as she gazes upon the scruffy new boy across the classroom, circa 1969. "He's *AmERican*." Teenage voice. Sometimes people just want to watch US TV.

I don't know know if they've done the talk show route but there's been decent print & online coverage.

Awwwwwwwww! They are so cute! And Katherine Isabelle is my choice for one of the most gorgeous actresses currently working. The woman is just beautiful.

Been a fan since Ginger Snaps, watched the Canadian Monk-like one-season-wonder Endgame mostly for her. She really out to be a household name. She's a great beauty and a talented actress to boot. If only she was in more big-name projects (not that I don't love the more obscure, cult films she specializes in). Ginger Snaps is one of my favorite teen films and horror films in general. Thank you for reminding me I need to rewatch it.

Crud. The Hannibal panel at Comic-Con conflicts with the call time for the masquerade. I can't go.

Seriously, just when I think this show cannot possibly get any slashier, Will starts saying stuff like he made his decision when he heard Hannibal's voice and telling Jack he wanted to run away with Hannibal. I'm pretty much expecting full-on naked make-outs between them before the season is up.

I am 96% sure Fuller would have done it already if he thought he could sneak it by NBC.

I'm fairly optimistic that Hannibal's probably found a new home. Contracts allegedly would have expired by yesterday, and I think if it were canceled for realsies Fuller would have said something. That said, final confirmation will probably take place during the Hannibal panel at Comic Con.

I feel like the stars have to at least be keeping that option open, or at least Mads and Hugh who are the most important.... Actually, much as I love the whole cast, you could feasibly do it with just Mads but he is a must.

To be fair, the article that the AV Club cited is extremely poorly written and riddled with errors, so I don't fully buy it. And I doubt Mikkelsen and Dancy are going to be bolting for other projects immediately- they both seem to want to stick around.
I'm not optimistic anymore, but I'm not pessimistic either. I'm just waiting.

LIVE HANNIBAL THOUGHTS: Gosh, Tao Okamoto is pretty. 'Are we obligated to talk?' 'No.' I'll probably repost this on the TOC recap, but how old is her character supposed to be? She looks late 20s/early 30s, but if Hannibal (who is probably in his mid to late 40s) was an orphan when he met her, was she like 6 years old and he was… how old? In his early 20s? I mean, I suppose… Again, nitpicking I know, but it still struck me as a bit off (granted, I also read Hannibal Rising, so the age gap between those two in that version was significantly less).

Well that was INCREDIBLY satisfying. I was so worried for Jack but loved watching him kick ass. Is it just me or was that hanging death a Susperia nod?

Spitters are quitters, and you don't strike me as a quitter, Dr. Bloom.
Kudos, Mr. Fuller. I just about died of laughter. Alana's reaction face was priceless. And that fight!

extremely poorly written and riddled with errors The AV Club. Also: that opening shot of the train carriages flashing past then the hard freeze on Chiyo was, even by this show's standards, fucking gorgeous.

My snort at that line was so sudden and severe I thought for a moment I might swallow my tongue. Could not believe that made it in. Astounding.

Was watching some clips from season 1... it's devastating seeing just how far Will as fallen. The guy who said that killing is the ugliest thing in the world has ended up manipulating others into doing just that.
It's also depressing to see what Fuller's plans for the next few seasons were. He wanted Lee Pace as Buffalo Bill! And apparently he wanted to diversify the cast more and cast Clarice as a non-white woman, which would have been cool.
