Who gets more wins this year? The Niners or the Raiders? Part of me wants to say the Niners simply because the Raiders are, traditionally, where failed superstars go to die (lookin' at you, T-Rich!). But lord all mighty, did the Niners have a fuckin' Fire Sale of an off-season. Looks like Kaeptain America will be throwing to himself if you want some TDs (you know, to break up the tedium of running it in all the time).

I want the offseason to be over just so I can either confirm the Jets are as crap ass as ever, or if they are truly in a better place. The excitement of the beginning of the Todd Bowles era is killing me, because it's all in hypotheticals right now.
And for fuck's sake, I want to see Geno Smith light it the fuck up and prove 'em wrong. I can't go another year with another three-and-flee QB for the Jets.
...
(Yes, I miss Mark Sanchez. Y'all see that Thanksgiving game against the Cowboys?!)

Mike Golic had a lot to say about it thus morning on Mike & Mike. He was friends with a teammate Jerome Brown who died in a similar manner, but who also had his thirteen year old nephew in the car with him, who also was killed.

EDIT: might do a cash league as well as the free one (maybe just a $20ish buy in to make it a bit higher stakes). lemme know if interested!

I WATCHED THE ENTIRE HALL OF FAME GAME. IT WAS OKAY. I forgot about it. Did my Vikings look decent enough to actually pay attention to the NFL this year? Sort of hard to judge. Trae Waynes made a bunch of mistakes including a couple of PI flags and getting burned deep after committing a penalty. The Steelers weren't really playing any of their starters, but their depth looked pretty shaky. Bridgewater did pretty well for the drive (maybe two?) that he was in, but couldn't come away with a score. EDIT: whoever you guys were using as kick returner / punt returner (not Patterson) was looked pretty dang good!

One of those news items you see and go 'yea, I could see that'. Guy was a punk when he played at West Virginia and I doubt that changed after he got drafted.

I'm guessing that Geno threw the first punch but got intercepted.

Have to say I'm really impressed so far with Bowles. He's handled this non-sense about as well as he could and seems to be exactly what you'd want in a NY market coach or manager (no non-sense, focused on longer term). In a way this might be helpful to him long term. While this was supposed to be Geno's last chance since they were going to build their offense around him, I kinda doubt they could go too far even if it panned out as best as could be expected. With Geno out for most of the season and Richardson out, there might be an opening for Bowles to get the team rebuilt to his liking for 2016 and there's a built in explaination for a bad year.

Rather hilariously yesterday I thought "I wonder if just the thought of someone breaking Geno's jaw will make Rex sign him..." and sure enough.

I feel bad because it seemed like Geno was actually turning it around, by all accounts from camp so far. Just making it up to competent -- at least as good Tannehill or Bradford.
I then felt bad because, I mean, nobody wants to get punched in the face at work, let along get knocked so hard you need surgery.
Then, after learning WHY Geno got knocked, I figured this would be the worst thing to come from Geno. When he was drafted, there were a lot of rumors that he was a bit of an egotist with a "Me-First" attitude. Some people can turn this into leadership, but I've always suspected that he was forced into the role, and never learned how to lead his team.
So now, it's time for a bit of the ol' Fitzmagic from journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick -- talented at a level perhaps as competent as any of us were hoping Geno to reach. But the difference here is that A) He's working with Chan Gailey again, with whom he's had his best years with the Bills, and B) Surrounded by, arguably, the best receiving corps he's had in his entire career. If Fitzpatrick can't prove doubters wrong, and finally put his terrific practice measureables to use, I expect Geno would be back by Week 4. And, hopefully (though not likely), Geno won't be so shaken up as to show that his off-season has been productive.
For now, I look forward to the usual Jets strategy of ground-and-pound football. Chris Ivory's year, y'all.

Chris Ivory's year, y'all. I'm not too happy about Geno being out if only because it all but guarantees that two of Fitzpatrick's yearly allotted three vaguely-competent starts will almost certainly be against the Bills, and Buffalo will almost certainly lose the two games by a score of 10-9 because EJ Manuel or Matt Cassel or Tyrod Taylor will almost certainly have a stat line of like 7-36 for 83 yards, 0 TDs, and 1 int, and then Buffalo will almost certainly go 8-8 instead of 10-6 and miss the playoffs largely on the basis of losing twice to the mediocre Jets. Whereas if Geno were starting, the Bills would almost certainly win each game like 37-3 on the strength of the defense intercepting three of Geno's "passes", and running them back for touchdowns, in addition to running a strip sack back for a touchdown in each game.

He is a fantastic Defensive coach, but is the Bills secondary good enough for the kind of shit Rex likes to scheme? It may be a Rex Ryan defense, but it's not the Rex Ryan Jets defense. Also -- JEEZ. What a dire QB situation. Jets QBs may suck, but man... Hanging your hopes on Cassel or Manuel? Yeesh. As far as I'm concerned, the Bills and the Jets are one in the same this year. Lots of great WR talent, terrific RBs, and top ten defenses, with nobody to lead them.
