Well, the Saints have officially completely collapsed, so I'm going into DGAF mode for the rest of the season, more-or-less. My fantasy team is, surprisingly for me at least, in first place, so that'll keep me marginally tethered at least through the rest of the regular season.

Most of the time I wish that the NFL would fix the ridiculous catch rule.
But part of the time I hope not, because it has inspired some entertaining tweets on my timeline. This week's prize for best Catch Rule tweet goes to my friend Charlie:
"You have to accept the catch in your heart first."

Sigh. That would be from the college I work at. Wonder how many times people have pointed that out to him? Would it be tacky if I went to find him on campus to tell him to demand a fix? Also, shouldn't this be in the college thread and not the NFL one? That's Brock Osweiller, slayer of Patriots, American Hero. He wears sleeves now.

In light of our seeming lack of B&T at TOC, could we maybe get Pops Freshenmeyer to weigh in on yesterday's Pats/Jets game?

I like how Belichick is defending this stupid decision now. You MEANT to do that, Belichick? LOL, okaaay....
Also amusing was the Steelers losing to the Ravens.
Finally, wow, the Packers looked terrible in that loss. They need a complete redesign of both the plays and the personnel.

I can actually see the logic of it, because if you think you can keep them from scoring, a field goal will in it on the second possession, while it won't on the first, at least not automatically. That said, I still think it's kind of stupid. Unrelated, but I won my work Fantasy League. That was nice. Even nicer, I don't go back to work until Monday.

After watching last night's game, I have to say I really don't like the OT game-ending rule. Games should not end on a fumble or an interception. How about "first to six"? If a team scores a touchdown, game over. If a team scores two field goals, game over. If a team scores three safeties, game over. If time runs out, game over. Yeah, Denver probably would have won last night anyway, as the fumble gave the Broncos excellent field position, but still, I'd have rather see Cincinnati's defense try to stop Denver from kicking another field goal (or Denver's kicker try to redeem himself again for whatever that thing he did at the end of regulation), then end it the way it ended.

NFL OT rules are just stupid period... their supposed "fix" only made it a bit less stupid. I much prefer the CFL rules and it has led to some pretty exciting games the past couple years.

I actually don't mind the OT rules. If your offense can't muster a field goal and/or your defense can't prevent a TD, it just wasn't meant to be.

For the most part I don't mind that the Giants failed to prevent the final nail in the Coughlin Era on Sunday as it would have been time to move on even if they won.
But on the other hand I was really hoping that being w/o OBJ for a game might have motivated taking some risks/experimenting with Tye, Randall or Jennings that could get refined for last year. I suspect 2016 will be more of the same.

I don't understand why they don't just adopt the college football OT rules. Is it just because the pro kickers tend to be better?

NFL OT is definitely stupid. I kind of like the "First to six" idea. Though, I suppose it is just again a marginal improvement on a fundamentally flawed system.

How many big college programs are kicking themselves for not waiting a little longer to hire a new coach today?

The theory going around the office today is that Lurie wanted to fire him earlier, but waited until all the big college programs filled their vacancies as a final "fuck you" to Kelly. Of course, then they all agreed he'd wind up with the Titans because Mariota.

Well the Saints finished up their mediocre season with a typical 3-point win against the Falcons. The fourth quarter of that game was one of the craziest things I've ever seen though, especially the matching inside-the-five-yard-line fumbles.

But if they don't backslide next year they'll at least get a WC. Sooooooooooo…….how long until pitchers and catchers report?

The Chiefs and the Royals have both made the postseason for the first time in Kansas City history. Some may say that means nothing; I choose to believe it means everything.

Watching Vikes and Packers and I think NBC may be using my high school CDs for their commercial break music. Trapt and Three Days Grace in one broadcast in 2016?
