I just put an applesauce-spice layer cake in the oven. It will later be frosted with caramel buttercream. What's that you say? It's going to be 93 and humid today? I'M NOT LISTENING, LA LA LA LA! I'm on my way~!

I'm going to go back to Virginia for a visit right in the middle of Fall and I'm so excited. Nowhere in the country has a more beautiful fall than this particular part of VA. Oh I beg to differ! Have you ever seen a glorious fall in New England? (Mass., Vermont, NH) It's amazing. (Although I have driven through Virginia in the fall and it is definitely gorgeous.) I have and it's gorgeous, but I still like the Shenendoah valley better!

I have and it's gorgeous, but I still like the Shenendoah valley better! I was in the Fredericksburg/Chancellorsville area for my 30th birthday last year (I visited a bunch of Civil War battlefields I'd never been to before) in early October and it was really, really lovely. The trees were juuuust starting to turn.

It's absolutely beautiful out today, sunny, temps in the mid 70's. It looks like we may have great weather through the weekend.

This heat is the worst and I hate it and I would like for the CTA to figure out how to not have trains without AC break down during the morning rush.
Now I gotta deal with my butt being sweaty all day and that's not very pleasant!!

Still hot here. We had about 3 days where it was low 80s, but it's back up to 90s the past couple days.

Last week into the weekend was very pleasant, mid-upper 70s and low humidity. Then it got hot and sticky again. Now it's hot, sticky and pouring.

Hot and humid as balls this week after a gorgeous, low-humidity weekend in the low 80s. It's supposed to cool back down again by Monday, at least. This morning was cool and lovely, though - I caught a whiff of wood smoke in the air while walking from my car to the train platform.

The hot, sticky, pouring weather is over. It did rain Saturday morning but since then it's been gorgeous. Mid-upper 70s, 50s at night, sunny and clear. I love late summer and fall, I just wish they weren't followed by winter.

Man, Labor Day weekend was unreal here -- the platonic ideal of early fall! We had the house opened up, and it got bona fide chilly at night. I got to kick off my week of staycation by having to put on a snuggly extra layer in the evenings!
Then the second weekend of staycation was the most repulsively awful kind of New Jersey summer you can imagine. Humid, scorching hot, utterly revolting. NO FAIR! What happened to my fall???
Oh wait... Look! It's nice out again today! Maybe this time it will last?

My weather channel app keeps teasing a cooldown in JUST THREE DAYS and keeps moving it back so that it's always just three days away.

It's absolutely gorgeous out, and today's service call got canceled, so I took the convertible and I'm out running errands with the top down. It's supposed to start raining tomorrow and continue for several days, so I figured I better enjoy it while I can.

Two things:
1. Yeesh, it was actually cold with my windows open this morning. Perfect weather for sleeping under a few quilts, less perfect weather for being able to get out of bed 90 minutes earlier than necessary in order to do some cardio.
2. I seem to have missed peak sycamore season while I was on vacation. The parking lot at work has a grove of sycamores at one side of it, and when I left before Labor Day they were starting to get crispy and brown. When I came back yesterday they were bare. Sycamores suck.

They say it's going to be 90 again in a few days. But lately it's been overcast and in the 50s-60s. September is usually the hottest month of the year, and fall doesn't come until the first rain in October, but this makes it seem like it might come early.
Minnie thinks of this as being typical September weather.

It's absolutely gorgeous here in West-Central WI. Highs in the mid 70s with lows in the 50s for the next 10 days.
Please delete my account when my frozen corpse is found this winter. Until then, woo!

It's supposed to go up to 90 degrees today for some weird reason and then the rest of the week's going to be mid-70s. What the fuck, Maryland?
I do love the smell of the night air when I'm coming home from work, though. It's crisp and cool and has just the tiniest hint of leaf decay.

It was cool last night, then is going to be crazy hot today, then cool/chilly again tonight and all normal after that. It's like today is spiking a fever or something.

Yeah, it was just warm enough yesterday that we turned the AC back on for the afternoon/evening, but today it will barely reach the mid-70s. Might be 80ish on Saturday though? :::checks weather forecast::: Oh, goody, humid and 78 Saturday ... that sounds great for running in

We had our AC off for a while because it's been in the low 60s/50s at night which is just right with a fan on. But we have relative privacy in a townhome.

Yeah, today was all gloomy and overcast this morning, and I'm looking outside thinking, gosh, it looks like fall, yay! I walk outside and get whomped in the face with heat and humidity. It was a major disappointment.

OMG, you guys, it's RAINING today! I can't remember the last legitimately rainy day we've had, and it's just so marvelously gloomy! (Yeah, sure, it's also that kind of September swampy, where you can't leave the house opened up for how humid it is, but the AC won't come on unless you push it down to, like, 70 degrees. But still. Gloomy and actually raining!)

My enjoyment of fall is greatly hindered by the knowledge of what's coming.

The beautiful weather is hanging on here for now, 80's and sunny, not too humid. I'm finding any excuse possible to drive the convertible every time possible, because I know it can't last.

We're having a late blast of summer, as Floyd mentions. Low-mid 80s all week with a peak into 87 tomorrow. But mid-70s Saturday. Lots of sun, too, though we could use some rain, the grass is getting crunchy.

While I'll be missing the little summer we did get, there is something to be said about snuggling into a nice thick down comforter. Some days I just want to roll in there and sleep until spring.
