95 for the next week. We went to my son's first soccer game at 11:30 last Saturday morning and it was just brutal out already. Most of the kids started crying because of how hot it was. Way out in the forecast I see some 60s creeping in for the lows, but again, it keeps pushing further out every day.

Topped 100 the last two days here in DFW.
Take Baby Snape outside to try to ride her tricycle. Make it to end of street. "Hey sweetie, isn't that enough for today?" (We have the corner house)
Edit: Also our downstairs AC is not working. Or at least, not working well. Ugh.

Went for a walk with Hugs this morning.
Heavy mist hanging over the neighbors' backyards? Check! Tints of brown and yellow on all the leafy trees lining the street? Check! A gloomy morning with a weak, watery sunrise? Check! A shower of tiny yellow leaves falling like petals from that one tree near our house? Check! OMG IT'S SO FALL! Swelteringly humid and projected to be 86 degrees today? Oh right. It's still September. Can't win 'em all.

This morning was crisp and cool and clear, with a gorgeous sunrise. I crunched through some leaves on my way to my car.
FALL IS UPON US.
Which means I'm gonna spend a significant portion of this weekend cooking comfort food to get us through cold dark nights later on.

Well, highs are only in the mid-upper 80s next week, as opposed to the 90s. I guess that counts as fall.

I hate that it's going to get cold soon, but I'll admit that I'm excited to start wearing my huge fuzzy robe around the apartment constantly.

It's 100% full-on fall here. Highs in the mid 60s-low 70s with lows in the 40s-50-2 for the next 10 days. Leaves starting to change color, the whole thing. I'm gonna get my long sleeve tees out and buy myself a goddamn pumpkin.

It was 83 today but plummeting to the 60s tomorrow. I bought a new fall/winter coat today which is weird, trying coats on with capris on.

We may have seen our last 100 degree day over a week ago! That is very early! I don't see any day over 94 degrees in the 10-day forecast.
The other day, when it was around 85, a new staff member said, "Ugh, when is it going to get cold?" Someone responded, "This IS cold".

I am basically unable to try on coats when it's over 75 degrees out. Even in an air-conditioned store. I get hot just thinking about it. But, hey, you found a coat!

It was pretty warm up on the third floor of Carson's, too. But the Goodwill sale is going on and yesterday was my best day to go before it ended. I got a red button-up wool peacoat, big pockets, came with a scarf went a size up just for the extra roominess.

We had temps in the high 80's all week. Yesterday, it was 90. I took the convertible for a drive yesterday evening, and had my last banana split before the custard stand closes for the season. Today the high is going to be 72, with the rest of the week having highs in the 60's and 70's, and lows in the 40's and 50's. That quickly, we went from summer to fall.

We also crashed straight from summer into fall. Friday was blindingly sunny and hot -- one report suggested it was 97, but I think that was a typo. It felt more like a clean 87, but again, that sun was relentless to us poor saps doing our farm pick-up in mid-afternoon. Then Saturday was the platonic ideal of fall: gray, rainy in the morning, 70 degrees, with an overnight low in the high 40s. Too cold to open the windows! Time to put on a comfy cardigan inside, and pull up a quilt while watching TV!
We're still getting watermelons from our CSA, though; I was happy to be picking them up on Friday when it felt like summer would be going on forever, but now I'm glaring at them and wondering why they're not pumpkins.

Yeah! We went from Way Too Hot to Seasonably Pleasant within a 24 hour period here in Chicago.
I jumped at the first opportunity to wear a sweater and denim jacket of the season.

I just put on my new Women Rock pullover to take the dog out, and it was just right for a pleasantly sunny, cool and windy day. I also dug my hoodie out of the trunk of my car. I don't like the sock-wearing so much, though.

I put on a hoodie this weekend! Also, our gas fireplace is not working because the computer in it needs to be replaced (twice now it's come on spontaneously during heavy rainstorms and refused to respond to the remote control, forcing us to shut off the gas to make it stop) so I hope they fix it before we start needing it. The lower level of our split-level house gets very cold very fast.

It was PERFECTION here this weekend. Dreary, drizzly, gray, chilly... the platonic ideal of an October weekend when you don't have any reason to leave the house.
It's kind of shocking me how quickly the dark is creeping into both ends of the day, though. It seems like there wasn't even a transition period -- like, boom! All of a sudden, it's full dark when I'm done with dinner prep, and now we have to wait until the morning to take the compost out to the backyard. I hate the dark in the mornings, but I love how much it feels cozily like time to hibernate when it's dark earlier in the evenings.

I hate stumbling out of the bathroom/shower at 6:30 and having it still be pitch black. I sleepily told husband this morning that I'd love fall a lot more if it weren't so dark.
Because while part of me loves fall leaves and cider and cooler weather ... the dark and dreary sucks my energy and motivation and makes me want to eat baked goods under a blanket instead of Doing Things.

Still hot as balls here, though at least it isn't in the 90s, finally. The high is only 89!
I would like it to be Fall ASAP so I can be outside for more than five minutes at a time.

Sunny and in the low 70s this week through Saturday, when it's supposed to rain. I don't care - I'll probably be spending it drinking beer in my best friends' basement while I play with their dogs anyway. This is my perfect weather. Looks like the beginning of next week will also be sunny but drop to the low 60s. I don't mind that too much either!
I'm glad I left that aforementioned hoodie in my car from the weekend, though, because this morning I really needed it. The DC Metro's still running air conditioning in the trains so I would have been miserable without it, especially stuck on the train for 75 minutes like I was today.
The leaves are verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry slowly starting to change. I'm grateful for the next bout of rain we're getting because then the trees shouldn't just shrivel up and dump a metric ton of brown shriveled leaves on the ground come November 4 or so; they might stay hydrated enough to get really pretty first.

Last year's autumn was the most colorful I think I've ever seen in New Jersey, and now I'm all spoiled and expect it to be that way again. I suspect last year's very cool summer had a lot to do with it, though, and since this past summer was decidedly not cool, it might be time for me to adjust my expectations.

First fall-like day here, too, in that the highs are only in the lower 80s (though that's only for a few days) and lows actually hit the mid-50s tonight. I'm actually wearing a non-seersucker shirt.

Yeah, it's supposed to be mid-70s in the day and down to the 50s at night. I guess all that rain and wind we got Saturday blew the last remains of summer away, thankfully. It got warm enough today that I drove the convertible with the top down to run errands, although it was getting pretty chilly by the time I got home. At this point, every time I get to do that is just gravy.
