We were sitting out around a fire last night at around 10:30 when we noticed the proverbial cloud no bigger than a man’s hand coming up from the south. A giant SUV with California plates which was parked over two parking spaces. Like, they had tried to pull through to the opposing space so as to be parked facing outward, but they misjudged and ended up with the back half of the vehicle parked in one space and the front half in the opposing space.
On the window, under their windshield wiper, was placed a handwritten note: "Learn how to park and go back to California".

A work van with the sticker "Please be patient: student driver". These bumper stickers are pretty common around here, and I have often wondered if they really are new drivers, or why a regular driver would want one - these cars (and that work van) certainly aren't going slower than average, much less driving below the speed limit.

I didn't even know that was where we were going (to buy a used bathtub, don't ask). We had to pass through an actual checkpoint-style gate to enter this little settlement of houses, some very nice, some more shack-like, amid trucks up on blocks and/or jacks, and four door cars with four different colored doors. There was a lake involved, and plenty of bass boats, large and small. The very friendly gentleman we picked up the tub from had no teeth. You can't make this shit up. |
