Maybe the sportscasters should shut up about Gurley's leadership and responsibility in the immediate aftermath of him spiking the ball, incurring a 15 yd. penalty on kickoff that sets up midfield position, touchdown, and conversion to make it a 3-point game.
Course, Gurley friggin' hurdled a guy in the time it took me to type this.

If it felt like a slow week, it was because Alabama, Oregon and Oklahoma were all idle.
As usual, I'm going to start with Florida State, which is still leaking number one votes, and can you blame them? That was the worst first quater I've seen from the Noles... ever. Our defense looked terrible, I can't count how many missed tackles I saw, and our rushing game was non-existant. And we turned the ball over four times. You can't turn the ball over four times and still expect to win. Yet, that's what happened. Somehow, Winston and company had four touchdown drives in the second half- and figured out the running game. And NC State played tough, as we knew they would and their QB Jacoby Brissett looks really good and is a dynamic player.
Boy, they are really calling for Brady Hoke's head in Michigan after their loss to Minnesota. Belle and I tried to think of different jobs he might be more qualified for other than head coach. We came up with manager at a Denny's. He may not be able to deal with a Big Ten offense, but if there's a problem with your eggs, he's all over that.
Georgia is always going to be a threat when Tood Gurley is playing. He rushed for 208 yeards. Beofe the game ESPN interviewed Tennessee coach Butch Jones. Belle though he looks like looks like Sgt. Carter from Gomer Pyle, while I think when you close your eyes he sounds like Kevin from The Office.
I really thought that the UCLA/Arizona State would be a closer game, but I was wrong. Unlike Texas A&M over Arkansas in a late overtime win.
I can only imagine that South Carolina would like those last seven minutes back in their game over Missouri
Notre Dame beat Syracuse and Everett Golson looked either great or terrible. Never in between. I think he'll be good when he calms down and stops turning over the ball. USC beat Oregon state, who kept up with them for a good first quater. I wish Duke would have beat Miami, and Penn State got crushed by Northwestern (a sentence I never thought that I would write).
Kansas coach and Chris Penn look alike Charlie Weis did what he does best: got fired.
Okay starting this week I'm going to give my picks for the playoff and they are:
Well, it's the top four: FSU, Oregon, Alabama and Oklahoma. I don't think this is going to change until one of these teams loses.
So next week... Texas A&M playes Mississippi State, Stanford plays Notre Dame, Alabama plays Ole Miss, LSU plays Auburn (a lot of big SEC games) Oregon plays Arizona on Thursday, Oklahoma plays TCU, Baylor plays Texas, FSU plays Wake Forest, and Michigan State dkes it out with Nebraska. We're deep in conference play, people!

How about that for a surprise? Oregon is not technically out of the playoffs, but it's going to be tougher for them to do so

How about that for a surprise? Oregon is not technically out of the playoffs, but it's going to be tougher for them to do so I don't necessarily know about that. As much as I'm sure ESPN/Fox/whoever actually holds the rights to the damn games would love an All-SEC playoff, I think it would be hard for the committee to not include a Pac-12 representative this year. Oregon will need to beat Stanford, win the north, and win the Pac-12 title game to get in, same as they did on Wednesday. I think that win actually means more for Arizona (suddenly now 5-0!) than it does for Oregon.

When the polls come out later this morning, I'm guessing that FSU will be #1, Auburn will be #2, and #3-6 will be Baylor, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State in some order. I also don't think it's much of a stretch to think TCU could leapfrog all the way to the Top 10 from #24, or Arizona into the Top 10 from unranked.

Now I want Ga Tech to go undefeated before we meet them on Rivalry Week. Same for a Mississippi before the SEC championship.

Tech has the potential to go undefeated with that schedule, but I don't think they're nearly good enough to do so. Georgia Southern is a good team, no question, but they're not exactly Boise State 2006, so a Power 5 team that wants to make the playoffs should be beating them by more than 4 points.
BTW, congrats on being ranked #13. That just happens to be what South Carolina was ranked two weeks ago...right before they played Missouri...

10 to 15 is my preferred ranking in any given year. Even if we are legitimately better than that, I don't want to be in the top nine because it will just go to the head like it did when we were briefly #1 a few years ago. This is the SEC. Even with a comparatively weak schedule like UGA's this year, they need to just concentrate on the games. On those rare trick plays we try, I always yell at the TV "But we're too dumb to run that play!"

So last week I said: "FSU, Oregon, Alabama and Oklahoma. I don't think this is going to change until one of these teams loses."
And then it happened, starting Thursday night. Oregon is upset at home by an unranked Arizona. Normally I don't stay up late to watch the Thursday night game, but I did this week. mostly because the lead kept bouncing back and forth. There was a lot of dumb plays, but that excessive celebration penalty by Oregon just handed a touchdown to Arizona. You just can't do that and expect to win, especially when they're playing you so hard. This brings me to Marcus Mariotta. He's like the Tony Romo of college football. You can't deny his talent, but he always seems to choke at least once a year. That fumble with two minutes to go killed them. Think about it, had they scored on that drive and sent it to overtime, we'd be hailing him as a hero today. This does not mean Oregon is out of the hunt, but they're not a shoo in, which they would have been had they remained undefeated.
Then Alabama drops to Ole Miss 23-17. In this case it was turnover, specifically when they happen in the fourth quarter. They fumbled on the kickoff, and then that interception in the end zone.
But then we had Oklahoma playing TCU neck and neck. Look at the numbers: 461 to 469 total yards. 309 to 318 passing yards, 152 to 151 rushing yards. Then Paul Dawson had a pick.
But then we had Mississippi State and the Dak Prescott show against Texas A&M and the Nick Marshall show in Auburn's defeat of LSU. And then we had UCLA falling to Utah. I couldn't even stay up that late for that.
Everyone says the Noles played weak on the offense. I don't think the numbers agree, but I think that maybe we rely a lot on our field goal kicker Roberto Aguayo, who is damn perfect.
Florida finally realized what the rest of already knew: Jeff Driskol sucks. Treon Harris got it done.
Michigan AD Dave Brandon said that he will not resign or fire Brady Hoke. If they keep losing like they did against Rutgers, it might not be up to him. For this weeks Brady Hoke employment search: They guy at Home Depot who loads your fertilizer.
Norte Dame's Everett Golson looks good, winning their game with Stanford with a touchdown with 61 seconds left. The Irish (dammit!) may be for real this year.
Let's see, Baylor beat Texas, Arizona State beat USC, and Kentucky beat South Carolina.
Oh, and once again, Miami lost.
So what does this mean for the final four prediction: Well I have FSU, Auburn, Baylor and Notre Dame. I didn't put Ole Miss or Mississippi State up there, because they both have to play Auburn, and let's face it, they can't all go.
Wow, what a crazy week. This is like Block and Tackle length here, which brings me to:
Next week: Ole Miss vs Texas A&M, Mississippi State vs Auburn (see?), Georgia vs Missouri, Florida State vs Syracuse, The Red River Showdown (oh, excuse me, the AT&T Red River Showdown) Texas vs Oklahoma, Baylor vs TCU, Louisville vs Clemson, Oregon vs UCLA, Penn State vs Michigan, and USC vs Arizona. It's going to be crazy!

Is this their "Power rankings" bullshit? Don't they realize that Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State have to play each other? They just want an SEC championship again. This is why they hate FSU so much and says our offense is weak when we've done nothing but win. It's because we pissed in their cornflakes last year and spoiled their story.

If anything, before Winston's legal drama came out, it seemed like the media was openly rooting for FSU to go undefeated and play for the title.
