Well, looks like Last Jedi is being undone. Hope I'm wrong, but color me disappointed.

Looks like we may be getting some good force ghost on bad force ghost action.

I started crying as soon as Leia's theme cued up. I am not emotionally ready for this.

You can never tell shit from these teasers though. Luke still being around as a ghost isn't exactly surprising. The one action shot we got was helmetless. I don't know, JJ isn't my favorite director, but I'll be optimistic.

Well, looks like Last Jedi is being undone. Hope I'm wrong, but color me disappointed. I mean I have a LOT of issues with Last Jedi, so I would theoretically be okay with that. However, in practicality, some consistency in the storyline would be nice. Then again, Rian Johnson didn't feel the need to keep the characters consistent with TFA, so I wouldn't be too upset about Abrams getting rid of some of Johnson's garbage ideas.

I outright loved Last Jedi, it really is what I think is the best Star Wars film because Johnson went in such a drastic change of direction. Mostly in how he dealt with the characters of Rey and Kylo Ren. If they do walk back Rey's parents or Kylo, this movie is just a waste of time to me. I hope I'm wrong, but everything seems to be pointing to retcon city.

Honestly, the only way to have it make sense is to have the Skywalker name as a symbol rather than an actual person. Jedis are dead, we are Skywalkers now.

At the Celebration, after they played the trailer for the first time...Ian McDiarmid shows up on stage. After the cheers die down enough for him to be heard, he says, in Palpatine's voice, "ROLL IT AGAIN!" and they play the trailer a second time. I've already watched this thing about 8 times today. Yeah, whatever.

But I cannot stress how strongly I'm against a Kylo Ren redemption arc*, I found most of the interactions between Rey and Kylo borderline repulsive, and Johnson pretty much just straight-up assassinated Poe Dameron's character. That's not even including how the whole casino part threw off the pacing, and how ridiculously over-the-top Hux was, I was kinda fearful that Gleeson was going to pop a blood vessel in his eye. And I could roll my eyes and more or less ignore those bits, if not for the Dameron issue, and Johnson clearly shipping Rey and Kylo. Just - gross. No. *Kylo Ren redemption would not be earned in any way, shape, or form, unless he spends the entire movie striving towards that goal & even then I would be a hard sell. I also never bought Vader's "redemption", just btw.

I don’t care what else happens in this movie because motherfucking Lando Calrissian is in it screaming, “Wahooo!!!!” and flying around in a spaceship.

I thought Last Jedi did a good job of making Kylo three dimensional, but also because at the end of the movie he was straight up THE villain. He took Snoke's place by killing him, not because he wanted to be better. With Palpatine's laugh at the end of this trailer I fear JJ Abrams will just do his own return of the Jedi, since Force Awakens was just his own New Hope. I also loved Hux, can kinda see where people would be against Poe and the Casino stuff, but there was so much other things I loved about Last Jedi.

Yes, I would LOVE to see Kylo just turn into the new Emperor, that 100% should be where they're going with it, but I don't actually think they have the balls. And I won't lay that at Abrams' feet, because there's no way Disney isn't micro-managing the fuck out of where the characters end up (even if they're clearly not terribly concerned about how they get there). And I do like Hux, there was just no reason for him to be so overblown when everyone else was relatively restrained. My Poe issues are largely "um he's been around the goddamn Rebellion since he was a kid, he's now a commander, there's literally no fucking way he's going to react like a spoiled child because Holdo refused to confide the top secret plan in him, and no way he's going to go ahead and commit what would be court-martial-able actions if they had a court because he got his feelers hurt." Presenting the Rebel Alliance like it isn't a military structure and that someone of that rank would act like Andrea on The Walking Dead is idiotic.

Speaking of old-timey Star Wars characters, what would your reaction be if in the next trailer for Episode IX, Salacious Crumb showed up screaming "Una!!!!" at the top of his lungs?

Salacious Crumb also appears to say multiple words in whatever language it is that he speaks after R2D2 electrocutes him to save C3PO from having his eye eaten.

I really take exception to calling Rey a Mary Sue. By that logic, Luke Skywalker was the OG Mary Sue.

With the whole Skywalker title and Emperor's laugh, I'm afraid we're going to see some Luuke-level crap in this one. I really take exception to calling Rey a Mary Sue. By that logic, Luke Skywalker was the OG Mary Sue.

Unfortunately I agree with everything matt has said about what appears to be the total undoing of the bold new direction Last Jedi seemed like

Ehhh, he didn't. Unless the time inbetween Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi was less than I thought. He did get thrashed by Vader in Empire and Yoda did say he wasn't fully trained when he left for Cloud City. He wasn't a full Jedi till Return, hence the Green lightsaber.

Would've made more sense for Luke to go back to Dagobah, humbled by Vader, to train in-between films before he goes to Jabba's Palace having leveled-up.

So I've been rewatching The Last Jedi today, and a very important point to add toward Ep9:
In Luke's story about how he failed Ben/Kylo, he specifically referred to him as having "that strong Skywalker blood". Just confirmation of that.
(Also, the parts of this movie I -and others- thought were a bit too long upon first viewing, such as Canto Bight, really don't take up a lot of screen time. I think I love this one even more now.)
