Oh thank god, I'm not alone! You're in good company, sir.

I understand that "Hey QT" got a ton of love from music critics and blogs (hello Pitchfork!) but my god, anytime I play this song, I get death glares. And I agree-it's a stupid fucking pop song, it's super annoying fluff, and it's got a dumb tie-in gimmick too. Still, I love this song.

Late to this but I still unabashedly love '90s era Better Than Ezra (Deluxe was a great album), Barenaked Ladies and Boyz II Men and I do sing along to Taylor Swift, so sue me.

rainbowsherbert I think you could only love or hate those vocals. I listened to some of that PC Music Vol. 1 thing recently, which is all high-pitched dance-pop as well. Also received good reviews, but it's clearly not for everyone.

Damn if the songs my 9 year old are into aren't catchy as hell.
Even some my 4 year old loves:

This is still my favorite thing Tom Waits was ever involved in. I see no shame in this. From the moment I first saw this video, way back in the day, I was hooked as an instant Primus fan. My favourite Tom Waits thing remains Big Time however.

I'm surprised I stayed out of this thread for so long. Probably figured everyone already knows I'm shameless and I've been an outspoken ICP and 311 apologist. But I'm glad I popped in to (not for the first time) share the awesomeness of early-era Everclear. THIS is the Everclear I loved. 1993's World of Noise is a brilliant slab of raw, noisy garage-rock all the way through, that fit in perfectly with Superchunk and Sonic Youth loving Smacky in the summer of 1993. Go on Lord Lucan and Great Unwashed, dig in. Why oh why couldn't they stick with this sound? Aw man this album <3 <3

I like it, Smacks. That band has just never been on my radar. I'm a big Sonic Youth fan, but they come to mind for me less than, say, Archers of Loaf, who debuted that year. Familiar with them?

I know I've heard a song or two of theirs, didn't remember their sound really getting me excited. I highly recommend this whole Everclear album though.

I like Marilyn Manson. Far more than I can rationally justify to myself. I love every track on Antichrist Superster. Someone help me.

A Wizzard shock treatment? A King Diamond cleanse? And nothing's working? You might be stuck with that then. I mean, you could try a Boyd Rice/Radio Werewolf re-education program, but that hazards your very constitution.

I to I I'm less enamored with.

Also, Phil Collins. I kind of like him (and his-era Genesis). Lord Lucan, not only am I with you on Jessie J's song (although she really is over-singing in a bid to outdo Katy Perry), but I turn up the volume when this comes on the oldies station: No apologies, however, for throwing this on a mixtape:

moimoi I'd as soon listen to those as Peter Gabriel singing a ten minute paean to Hermaphroditus in a fox mask.

Concede my point or I shall have to Phil-bomb (Phil-roll?) you all over this forum! (That's until I get in touch with the people at WOMAD for phase II...)

Friends tell me that it's not good that I like Lana Del Rey. Thoughts? I liked Ultraviolence well enough. Late night music to trip out to. She's going to want to tap the breaks on her Barbara Hutton schtick at some point, though. It's like she's living in a Bret Easton Ellis novel.

Would have divulged this earlier, but I actually am ashamed. Still, I must admit a fondness for Maroon 5's singles, "Sunday Morning" and "Pay Phone". What is wrong with me..?

Might as well come clean about a few others I have the decency not to link to:
90s/00s MOR schlock that moimoi likes for some reason
Duncan Sheik - Barely Breathing Michelle Branch feat. Carlos Santana - Game of Love Vanessa Carlton - that one song she had

I have this stuck in my head, so I don't see why you shouldn't as well. There is absolutely nothing wrong with loving Sponge. Their newer stuff is actually pretty good too. I still try to see them live a couple times every year, which being in Detroit is actually harder to not do than it is to do.
