SLOW, I've always maintained that Van Halen are one of the most underrated (yes, UNDERrated) bands of the 80s, but to me, the Hagar stuff just lacks the magic. I can see why you'd enjoy it, though. Van Hagar isn't the same, but I love that album. And I am ashamed.

No shame needed. Sting was always way, way better than his reputation suggests, and "Desert Rose" is frankly cool as hell. @scarlettletterowhora I like a bunch of Sting songs, 'Fields of Gold' not least of all, but I have a vague sense of unformulated shame about it too. This is the only one I feel sheepish about, because it's so cheesy, but I love everything of his up to "Fortress Around Your Heart," which I also listened to today. "Fortress Around Your Heart" is great. My personal favorite is "Mad About You"- I adore that weirdly ominous guitar riff.

I'm not really ashamed, but it's definitely not 'cool' to have this opinion... Green Day's modern output contains numerous tracks that are fun are hell, corny pseudo-political rhetoric and all.

Guys, Sting may be obnoxious, but he was in a pretty great band. I'm afraid my taste in blue-eyed soul is occasionally a little more disreputable:

Yeah, I'm with you there. Whatever else may be said about him, Macklemore has made some grade-A pop rap. I'm ashamed to say you're not alone there.

This is uber-schlock, but it's pleasant uber-schlock. And the video is fittingly cheesy.

Pleasant uber-schlock is about right - on the reputability scale, I'd place it between Bruce Hornsby & the Range (another personal shame) and something like Paul Young.

Will not post links for fear of getting the thread shut down or drummed out of the forum as an apostate, but I like the following Justin Bieber songs: 1. Somebody To Love (feat. Usher) 2. Beauty and the Beat 3. What Do You Mean? I'm also liking that little Shawn Mendes's song. I ask you, when was the last time the U.S. produced a twink of the caliber of our Northern neighbors?

My favorite Justin Bieber song is "Confident", which, for a song that I find very slinky and catchy, was definitely not a hit for Bieber (topping at #41 on Billboard 100). It's too bad, because Bieber really brought out the big ones on this one. Great production, enough groove to make dancing to it super easy, and best of all, a wonderful winger in the form of Chance the Rapper. I love this song, but Chance's line, "It's only legal with a doctor's note, real deep pockets like a doctor's coat" really cinches it for me.

Being a child of the 80s, I have a high tolerance for over-the-top, cocaine-addled production values and totally overwrought singing. When 'classic' artists succumbed to the style of the times, it was hard not to feel as ashamed for them as for myself. Thus I present:

TI bless me for I have sinned. It's been 3 weeks since my last confession:
The 12-year-old moimoi would have unabashedly loved this; the...older...moimoi sheepishly enjoys its resemblance to the early house music of her youth.

That song was on the ad reel one summer I worked at a movie theater, so I had to hear it about 10-15 times a day. I must admit, I was never sad.

Does the Timbaland production and Missy Elliot in the background make this any less skanky?
...No? I'll go read some Simone de Beauvoir, then. [hangs head in shame]

100% pure, uncut 80s schmaltz. THIS is the soundtrack to a childhood in the midwest.

Guys, I fucking LOVE Barbra Streisand. Especially her 70s pop and disco records. Her voice is amazing; she is a true master. And I don't care who knows it!

OK, I'm back to work through some more shame. And if liking smooth music is lame, then I guess I'm just a big lame. (rhyming posts are also lame)

moimoi Barbara Streisand, huh? I'm not ashamed to like this, but the positive associations it evokes, from a time when my critical judgment was poor, makes me suspect that maybe I should be.

I normally dislike the Bad Lip Reading stuff, but their new Star Wars song is just too catchy.

That's it Lord Lucan - you've gone too far! That song is THE WORST. But since this is a safe, non-judgmental space, I took a step back and wikipedia'd Ms. Lewis to determine the following: 1) the aforementioned abomination and a duet with Richard Marx (vomit) were her two biggest hits but 2) she's Welsh, which makes me predisposed to like her (since the Welsh are like English people with Indian accents), and 3) she guested on this rather intriguing release by The Art of Noise: That song is still THE WORST, though. And you ought to be ashamed.

I LOVE Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart. I can't even count the number of times I've sung along to that by myself when I was feeling some heartache. I REALLY NEED YOU TONIIIIIIGHT Forever's gonna start tonight Forever's gonna start tonight Once upon a time I was falling in love But now I'm only falling apart And there's nothing I can say A total eclipse of the heart

Most bands I listened to in high school I grew out of...... some I didn't.
I'm a sucker for big drums.
I like kanye's music, but this is sexist as fuck, like A LOT of rap.
You will never understand just how disappointed I was that this was left out of the deadpool trailer proper.

No shame in that. Panic at the Disco were always vastly better than the bands they got lumped in with.
