What's this?TV Reviews are just a new set of boards I've tacked onto the TI where people can write reviews of TV series (or webseries, and hey, who knows what else we'd branch out into). Why is this?TV Club Classic on the AV Club is going to end. Many beloved series will never be covered, others will never have their coverage finished (like Cheers and likely Babylon 5 and not to be alarmist but maybe also Gilmore Girls. This was started as a reaction to that, sometimes if you just want a beloved TV series to be given an in-depth look you gotta do it yourself. How do I sign up?Really, all you need to do is to tell me you want to write a review... but more specifically, that you plan to do it soon. Specify you want to write your first review sometime in the next week (not that you'll be kept on any timetable after that, you understand) and I'll set you up your own board where you can write your posts. What if I don't want to start within a week? You can indicate here you want to review a show anyway. Here is my provisional list of forumless future potential reviews: Band of Brothers. PearBlackadder. Lone Locust of the ApocalypseCharlie Jade. Douay-Rheims-ChallonerCheers. Douay-Rheims-ChallonerColumbo. Ron Howard VoiceDead Like Me. MissBeaHavenDr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. Liz n DicksgivingEZ Streets. clytieFinal Fantasy VI. @pugsmalone, SensitiveSethPutnamFrasier. Douay-Rheims-ChallonerKing Of The Hill. El SidLife on Mars (U.K.). CaradeMurder She Wrote. Liz n DicksgivingPhineas and Ferb. @otherguy Quantum Leap. E.Buzz MillerThe Rockford Files. Liz n DicksgivingWalker, Texas Ranger. Liz n DicksgivingStargate (various). Douay-Rheims-ChallonerSpiral. Douay-Rheims-ChallonerThe Wire. @hairdresser ThunderCats (1980). William T. Goat, Esq.What kinds of shows can be reviewed?I have a preference, for obvious reasons, for series that have not been covered by the AV Club or will not be covered (The Wire is a certainty.) Series that will not be fully covered by the AV Club also qualify here. The shows are not exclusively the kinds of shows that would be covered on TV Club Classic, mind, as there are regular TV shows that don't get covered either - whether you're a fan of K-dramas or Continuum, there is a case to be made for covering some current shows too. Can more than one person review a show?Yes. You may collaborate on the reviews or write your own, separate reviews, either way you share a board so play nice. If @hairdresser is not up for The Wire, I can jump in. I may not write much for each episode, but I just finished the second episode and it would be interesting to have some commentary as I go along. I plan on watching about 2 episodes a week. Thanks.

Hello, Hello. I've been dying to find some comprehensive reviews of some cult classic cartoons of the late 90s early 2000s, and I've come up a little short. SO I figure I wouldn't mind creating my own reviews if people are interested in reading them. I'd like to start with Samurai Jack. What say you, @douay-Rheims-Challoner? You should do Courage the Cowardly Dog next.

I'm thinking of doing Zim next, and then Courage. By the way, I skipped last week as I was reveling in Christmas spirit. But there will be a new review up tomorrow evening.

I am beyond excited at "Frasier" being on this list. Can't wait for those reviews to start .
I'd love to do this as well, but most of the shows I own on DVD have already been reviewed on AV Club, so I don't know if people would be up for reading that stuff all over again. There is one show I wouldn't mind doing reviews of...but practically nobody else here watches/likes it ("Criminal Minds", for those who are wondering).

Already breaking my promise. Samurai Jack's gonna be up on Sunday this week, because I'm taking an impromptu trip over the weekend. It's an interesting two episodes! Anyone following along should watch them!

Yeah, if it hadn't been for Zack's DS9 reviews, I probably never would have started visiting AVC. This is just a ploy by Zack to get out of doing Voyager. Is Zack going to do Voyager (I'm out of the DS9 reviews for the now so I don't know if it's been mentioned/covered)? If not I'm officially voulteering to do Voyager (yes, all seven seasons!) here, either starting now or when Zack finishes up his DS9 reviews, whatever people prefer.

Prole Hole There has been no mention of Zack doing Voyager. A lot of people thought that Brandon Nowalk's 100 Episodes post about Voyager is as close as the AV intends to get. Also, duly noted.

That was my assumption as well, that the 100 Episodes was as close as we would get, especially given the demise of TV Club Classic... *sobs* So... I'm up for it!

Quick note: am on deadline for paid written work, so there's a longer-than-planned hiatus on Ultraviolet reviews until the end of the month. They shall return!

I know they did reviews for it over on the Old Country, but would anyone be interested in Rectify reviews? I need more things to waste my free time on, after all!

You can go ahead and create one whenever you have a chance! Watching the first episode now! For the 7th time ever. I may love this show a bit too much.

I just wrote up some thoughts on the BSG miniseries. I'd be ready for a forum, and I'd expect you to know better than me what the tagline should be.

I'm actually a big Steven Universe fan - AV Club coverage has been spotty at best. The fact that they didn't review Rose's Room yet is friggin' criminal. Anyway, I'd be happy to do a once-a-week (or maybe more - I spend a lot of time watching cartoons by myself) review, starting from the first episode. I could post the first one early Tuesday morning... if that's interesting to anybody. I'm not the world's greatest writer but I'd be honored to get notes from and have discussions with so many SMRT people.

I've posted my first Steven Universe review. It was a lot tougher to write than I'd imagined when I volunteered, but I look forward to improving my technique and hopefully introducing the show to some new viewers!

I'm going to throw out three shows that I'm interested in doing, in (respectively) the short (i.e. this summer), medium (this fall/winter), and long term (next year).
Short term: The Good Wife. I know it gets regular coverage at TV Club, but not until the beginning of the second season. That's OK, since I didn't start watching regularly until the second season. This summer, I plan to go back and watch Season 1, and wouldn't mind reviewing it along the way.
Medium term: Friends. It looks pretty obvious that the Classic reviews aren't coming back, so I'd like to write up the remaining nine seasons. Actually, I'd like to write about all ten seasons, but I can start with season two if we're avoiding seasons already covered by TV Club.
Long term: All in the Family. I plan on starting that show relatively soon, and since I know it won't ever be covered by Classic, I'd love to write about the contrast about what's timeless in each episode vs. what's hopelessly dated (which, from the episodes I've seen--maybe a quarter of the series total--is surprisingly not much, given that plots often revolved around the hot button issues of the day).
Anyway, if anyone has any objections (or encouragement), let me know! If anyone wants to claim these series for themselves first, I'm OK with that, as well (well, I'm OK with Friends and Good Wife. I really want to do All in the Family, though).

MarkInTexas I can put up your Good Wife forum now if you got a quote to be used as a tag.
