Guys, this Giants/Pirates game right now is fucking absurd. ABSURD. on a scale of 1 to jose abreu, how absurd is it? - Nearly 5 and a half hours, 13 innings.
- In the 6th the Giants were down 8-2.
- The Giants won 11-10.
- There was a 13 or 14 pitch at bat.
- Madison Bumgarner was a pinch hitter.
- Gerrit Cole was a pinch hitter and got a hit.
- Jean Machi threw a ball to second but it hit the ump's arm instead.
- The Giants won the game because Jean Machi threw down a bunt.
- And he actually made it to first!
- Probably other stuff. I only got to see the 9th-13th.

Sorry to double post, but here are a couple amusing write ups of the game from the Giants perspective and the Pirates perspective.
As AVCers usually enjoy humor, and as those of you in this thread enjoy baseball, I think both articles should be relevant to your interests.

Hey everybody! Rafael Montero's getting called up to start against the Yankees tomorrow!
Let's see what some of the best prospects in baseball have to show, and hope that the rest of the Mets bullpen picks up.

To recap today's Tigers-Indians:
- Max Scherzer gave up 7 runs - He was in line for the win - The Indians tied the 9-7 game in the bottom of the ninth - The Tigers homered in the top of the thirteenth - Then the Indians won the game on a bases-loaded balk

The Rays appear to be intent on sending this season down the crapper, but at least they dealt with Heath Bell.
Today's game: over 9 innings, the Rays allowed 1 hit. They lost, 3-2.

So. We bring up two of our hot young prospects, in supposedly one of the best list of young prospective pitchers, and they lose all four of their starts thus far?
Can't wait to see how the Mets will get to 90 games this year, Sandy.
[Checks wallet] Oh, fuck, I already bought my ticket for the game with the post-game Huey Lewis and the News concert? God damn it...

I... what? Soon as I get bitter about the season, the Rays get consecutive walkoff wins.
I don't even.

So Little Emma when there is a possible no hitter and it is a dodgers pitcher, you rooting for or against? It's a struggle. Luckily I was shopping at the time so I was able to remain neutral. It also helps that the Giants are 5 games up! But jeez, over 200 pitches? And I thought Timmy's no hitter pitch count was a bit much.

Beckett only threw 128.

Boyfriend told me that from his phone and he's the Dodgers fan and I didn't care, so I didn't look it up. That makes much more sense though. I don't know if I could have taken it if Ryu had gotten a perfect game today though. Too much.

HOLY DAMN SHIT BEN REVERE HIT A HOME RUN
Ben Revere started his career with 1,565 plate appearances that were not home runs. On #1566 he finally got his first home run. Amazing!

The Red Sox honored the 2004 Sox tonight. I can't believe that it's been 10 years. My friend and I, watched the ALCS and World Series from the same spot in his living room. It was great to see guys like Curtis Leskanic, Trot Nixon, and my favorite, Jason Varitek out there. Hell, even though he's a cheating bastard, I was even glad to see Manny Ramirez. I can't believe it's been that long.

Did you hear the rumor that Alderson put Hudgens up to speaking out after his firing as a way to signal that the Wilpons are now meddling in baseball decisions even when it isn't a money issue?

I have not heard that. I wouldn't put it past them (just look at how they conducted themselves with the Knicks this year!), though Hudgens did go on Michael Kay the day after and implied that a lot of what's wrong with the Mets is the Wilpons' tight clutching of their purse strings. Well, hopefully June shows improve. Zach Wheeler's finally looking like he's coming into his potential, and Bartolo Colon has been a pleasant surprise. Can't wait for the bullpen to catch up with the amazing performances deGrom has given thus far.

It's kinda funny though that he, Familia and DiceK have the best batting averages on the team right now.

Completely off topic: I just saw Danny Tamborelli (Little Pete from "The Adventures of Pete and Pete") do sketch comedy in a bar in Brooklyn. He was wearing a Jenrry Mejía-as-Mr. Met shirt. That was kind of awesome.

I think it fell so steeply that by the time it reached the front of the plate, it was around the batter's head.

Well, at least the Mets can count on the Phillies to be beaten back on the way back up to .500.

The player TBD from the Ike Davis trade is likely to be Neil Kozikowski, 19-year old lefty pitcher.
Sup Mets? I herd u guys liek pitchers. So we're giving you a pitcher for your 1B, so you can not have an offense, while you don't have an offense.

As an impartial observer, I'm pulling for an A's/Giants World Series.
