As an impartial observer, I'm pulling for an A's/Giants World Series. As long as there's not another earthquake, I would enjoy that. Even if we lost again. Although let's be honest, it's an even number year, so obviously the Giants shall win it all!

Matt Harvey has been told by the Mets front office that they don't want him pitching this year. Doctors have told him he's close to ready, and he's clearly eager to get on the mound, but the Mets have already shut him down for the year and say he won't be pitching until 2015.
He's going to leave this team. I can feel it in my bones. The first chance he gets.

Anyone who hates Yasiel Puig are just big mean jerks. I thought you would enjoy this selection from Grant Brisbee, the Giants' awesome SB Nation writer.

Hey, the Yankees are actually playing pretty good baseball again. Only a game and a half back from Toronto after sweeping a series against them. And Kuroda's pitching pretty well again, Tanaka is still playing fantastic, and we're currently holding onto one of the AL Wild Card spots. We are losing 3-0 to the Orioles at the moment I'm writing this (stupid Vidal Nuno and stupid injuries to our competent starting pitchers), but things are looking pretty good recently for the Yankees. Yay!

He kept this one at 113 pitches! Maybe his arm won't fall off in the next start!

And I thought of Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr first. I was actually able to watch the last 2 innings since MLB.com had it as their game of the day and everyone had left the office. I was basically yelling after every strike thrown in the 9th. Twitter was the 1st place I went (btw @spielbergoavc everyone - I'm mildly amusing!) but after that I came to realization that none of my IRL friends cared, so TI forum it was. Also did you notice I used a bigger font than the comment about Kershaw's no-hitter?

It was mid afternoon for me, but the woman I share an office with likes baseball and I was doing tedious work, so she let me listen on my headphones. I have MLB.tv so I plan to watch the whole game soon. I wanted to tonight, but it keeps not loading!

After a five-game losing streak the Yankees finally remembered what offense is and won another game! And Tanaka didn't even have to be excellent to get the win.

Well, you're welcome, A's, for our help in making your team even better.
There goes the pitching yet again for us, but Hammel and Samardzija had no future with the team anyway and I'm happy about getting Russell. I feel great about our farm system, and I'm now more confident about 100 losses this year.

My apologies to Little Emma you may not want to read this post. The giants once had a 9 and a 1/2 game lead over the dodgers, now they are one game back. I guess that is what happens when a team loses 18 of 23. Guess I'm going to have to start pulling for an A's vs Dodgers or Brewers series. Really as long as it isn't the braves, nationals(only because of Bryce harper), Pittsburgh(residual penguins/steelers disdain), or the cardinals.... especially the cardinals, loathe as much as I could any sports team. Now for MVP picks/predictions NL MVP: if voted now I think Tulo would win, but the rockies are pretty much out of the race so I think someone else can garner support for it on a winning team. I would choose Kershaw, the guy is just that good. I think he should have won it last year, but he only finished 7th in voting, eveb tgough he had as good a year as the one verlander did when verlander won mvp. But I'm just a fan so what do I know? AL MVP: a lot tighter and no one is having gaudy numbers like Cabrera did the last two years, so I think this will be the year Trout gets it. Since he is as stellar as his past two years and Cabrera could be aruged as not even the best hitter on his team right now. I don't think Cruz or Encarnacion will outshine Trout like Cabrera did in HRs and RBIs like the past two years, so I don't see them winning either. The fact that the angels are poised to make the playoffs helps trout big time, since that was the main criticism against picking him the past two years. I'm just glad that the actual best player(non pitcher that is) looks like he will win! NL cy young: If it isn't Kershaw 1 of 2 things will have happened. 1. He got injured for a long time. 2. Voters will have marked their ballots wrong. AL Cy Young: pretty much wide open. King Felix, Tanaka, sale, darvish. All could make a push for it. If I had to bet would probably go Felix. On the team with the best record of the 4, has been this good consistently for years, and has the best looking numbers, albeit slightly.

The reason why I cut puig slack and not harper is because Puig grew up in Cuba where life was hell for him. Harper should know better, also puig doesn't seem like a dick off field. Harper does. Also puig is the better player.

The Yankees have traded the utterly useless Vidal Nuno to the Diamondbacks for the not-useless Brandon McCarthy. As someone who isn't super-knowledgeable about baseball, can anyone explain to me why the Diamondbacks organization would think this is an acceptable trade. I get that with an ERA of just over 5 this season, McCarthy isn't exactly a great pitcher, but he's much, much, much, much, much, much, much better than Nuno. Nuno is a really, really, really bad pitcher who's greatest accomplishment was ever getting to start games in the majors in the first place after being a former indy ball player. So, what are the Diamondbacks getting out of this trade? I've heard they're even paying for a good chunk of McCarthy's contract. And, in case I didn't make this abundantly clear earlier, Nuno is terrible, just terrible.

Plus, McCarthy has an excellent social media brand, you can't put a price on that.

I wish McCarthy would stop ending up on teams I don't like. He's a cool dude.

Although I saw this gif on Grantland and it made me feel a little better: I know a lot of people are blaming Wash and/or JD for the epic collaspe, but given just how many injuries this team has suffered, I'm willing to write off this season and give them another chance in 2015. Put Choo and his bum ankle on the DL, limp along through the rest of July and August, then let the starting lineup of Round Rock (and Joey Gallo) start in September. Unless, of course, we get swept at home by the Astros again. If that happens, fire everybody.

Plus, don't forget, the deal for McCarthy also involved the Yankees forking over some cash, so clearly the two players aren't exactly equal.

As a White Sox fan the two best things about this season have been Jose Abreu and this article about Mark Buehrle. Love that guy.
