Damn, you are just now getting around to this? Then again, I feel most OKC fans might be slow to coming to this end point. After the thunder lost to the heat in the finals, in the way they did, and then lost harden. That was when I felt their window was closed, if it had really been open all along. The way Brooks coaches the thunder it really is up to Durant and Westbrook to play as perfectly as they can. They can cruise to being one of the best teams in the regular season that way, but the fact of the matter is in the playoffs that isn't sustainable all the way. 4 series and westbrook and durant have to play their ass off because the rest of the team is kinda not that good and not coached well. This actually may be the best team overall, but I don't know. Even if they sneak into the playoffs all the games missed from durant and others, just don't think the team will know how to play together as good as they can. The best bet for the thunder is to not get memphis, I think they would have a punchers chance against GS because I don't know if their defense can hold up to playoff basketball, whereas the Grizz can. I also think the thunder would likely come out the victor if they somehow make it to the 6th seed and face either portland or houston, but lose the next round. Oh, and I think the Cavs are working now, they have been so much better in the 2nd half than the first. I really do think they are coming out of the east. Toronto and Washington are on the downturn, chicago even at full health is good but not great, and Atlanta is just not as talented as the Cavs. As far as thunder vs cavs? That would actually be really interesting. I think Lebron has the edge over Durant, but Westbrook would easily carve up Kyrie the way he is playing right now. While both Love and Ibaka have not had the best of seasons. While both Mozgov and Kanter are additions who seem to be doing very well for both teams. JR Smith and Dion Waiters also are very similar players. Everyone knew it was bad after the Heat loss and people are still furious about the Harden trade, but it is really sinking in now because we've realized that the ownership group is completely OK with this. They won't bail on Brooks until he pisses them off personally. They won't ever pay the luxury tax unless there is a season ticket holder walk out. They keep an extremely tight lid on their players in a PR sense (see how quickly Kevin Durant, a guy with an insane amount of leverage on a team, backed off his recent media comments) and seem to be more focused on building an asset that pays out a decent dividend in the form of annual profits than a winning basketball team. That is technically Presti's job but he's got one hand tied behind his back, and that just shows what a great/lucky GM he is. As far as a Thunder -Cavs match up, I think the Thunder have it in 6. Ever since Kanter showed up Ibaka has been completely rejuvenated. He can go back to playing the 4 instead of pretending to be a stretch 5. Dion Waiters is now the sixth man (and his extension is an acknowledgement that Jeremy Lamb isn't working), so he'd be going against the Cavs second unit mostly. Who knows, maybe it could still happen if everyone gets healthy and Memphis gets taken out by someone else. It gives me a headache thinking about what Rick Carlisle could do with this roster, but a coaching change probably won't happen unless Westbrook and Durant publicly turn on him. The great fear is that they stay loyal to Brooks and get sick of the owners, then bail when their contracts end. Like you said Chalmers, I think they just want to be profitable and it's become pretty clear that they don't need to splurge on role players to make a big championship push to keep up their season ticket sales and things like that. Now, what would bite them in the ass would be if they manage to piss off both KD and Westbrook enough that they leave for greener pastures. I have to think that would decimate the fan support and they won't luck into landing three transcendent talents just before moving the franchise to a new city again.

@supernintendochalmer They fired Brooks! It's possible that 2 out of the top 3 basketball teams in Oklahoma will have competent coaches next year.
If only OKC would make a real run at hiring Bill Self, that would be perfect.

If only OKC would make a real run at hiring Bill Self, that would be perfect. Pretty excited. Hope they snag that Spurs assistant that was big in Europe. From what I can gather, Presti fired him without consulting anyone but ownership because he knew there would be backlash internally and from the players (especially KD).

I would imagine Durant will get over whatever Stockholm syndrome he has pretty quickly, it's not like Brooks was implementing some genius system that really utilized him and Westbrook to their full ability at the same time.

54 points. Wow. Would be nice if the Bulls can play like this against the Cavs as well.

Has somebody checked on Bedroom Pastrami yet? I didn't think the Bucks would win that series, and they still have a hell of a fun young core of guys, but that couldn't have been fun to watch.

I was focusing more on the draft--I was expecting them to lose that game. They've been overachieving all year, but their lack of offense and perimeter D really killed them. Sucks to see them get blown out, but I can't be upset because I was thrilled to see them make the playoffs and ecstatic when they won even one game, so to see them get this far has been really a treat.
With that being said, Mike Dunleavy is a cheapshotting punk and I hate him so, so, so much.

I never gave Mathew Delladova a second thought before this series, but you know what? Now I hate him. I hate him more than any other person in basketball now. I can't quite explain why. There are Cavs players who hurt the Bulls more with their play, but something about that short hairy Australian bastard just stabs me in the brain. It might be his squinty, devil eyes. It might be his repugnant facial hair. It might just be the specific way he runs and shoots the basketball. I just hate him. When Kyrie Irving got hurt, I prayed for his speedy recovery, so that rat's face time on my TV screen would not be extended. I would have been fine with Kevin Love's shoulder miraculously healing if it meant getting that bloke out of the game. I want him to be eaten by a dingo. I want us to use the A-bomb on him. I want him to accidentally murder his whole family like Hercules. I wanted one of the Bulls players to start kissing and humping him on the court. I want to go back in time and kill grandfather so he will never be born. The "I hate Mathew Delladova or whatever his last name is" club will be meeting in Gym C of the PromisedPrince community center next Thursday. Pizza and refreshments will be served. The refreshments will be made from our tears. Those won't be from Dellavedova, they'll come after the pizza turns out to be from Pizza Hut. Those tears will lead into the Mathew Delivedova tears, however.

Hurts to see the season end this way. As a basketball fan in general, sucks to see so many injuries on both sides, as well as the disappointing finish to the series. This was THE (epic 7 game) series to watch coming into the playoffs, but the NBA's scheduling definitely hurt the quality of play out there.
See ya, Thibs. He did a lot for this team over the years, but putting Brooks and Hinrich out to start the fourth quarter in this game was his playoff coaching in a nutshell. Couldn't really make adjustments.

Damn, Cleveland could have very well pulled an LA last night. They played poorly enough to give the Bulls a chance to go on a run a la the Rockets, but the problem is that the Bulls pretty much gave up on the game halfway through.

So, this Deandre Jordan thing...great offseason entertainment, but wow. I think this is actually good in the long run for Dallas since I doubt Jordan actually had it in him to be a franchise cornerstone, but with Dirk on his last legs, Parsons being able to leave next summer, and Mathew's health being highly in doubt, this team might be Sixers bad soon. Jordan's perspective here is understandable, but his apparently avoiding the Mavs to not have to inform them in person....that's a bad look.

That whole thing has been hilarious, from the reasons he gave initially for wanting to leave LA to the details of he's now coming back. When do the Clips have their first game in Dallas next season? That's going to be great.
I think there's also a good chance now that Dallas and Portland are going to drop out as playoff teams in the west next season. The Thunder should be back in one of those slots, but it will be interesting who slides up into the 8th seed. Utah probably?
Also, can we start some sort of petition to get Nowitzki traded out of Dallas so he can play out his remaining seasons on an actually decent team? There is no way the Mavs aren't going into full-on scrap and rebuild mode now, is there?

I suppose the bright side is that we Mavs fans found out what an immature flake he was before he suited up. I really, really, really hope he enjoys being a Clipper, since, unless he turns out to be better than that other Jordan, I'm pretty sure the next time he's a free agent, no other team is going to get near him. Why would any other GM ever trust him at his word now?

Sad news about Flip Saunders today. I grew up watching those T-wolves teams he coached. Garnett and Marbury were what got me into basketball as a kid.

The MCW trade isn't one they're hanging their future on. Knight was going to command too large of a contract and he wasn't one of Kidd's guys, plus they got Ennis and Plumlee in the deal. Not quite "something for nothing," but it was pretty clear that they were going to let Knight walk. In preseason (I know I know) MCW looked quite a bit better now that he's been with the team for a while (turnovers notwithstanding), and while Monroe is going to hurt the team defensively a bit there's really nobody on the roster that could be counted on to be a post scorer. A lot of how the team performs will hang on Jabari, but it's the East, so they should probably still make the playoffs.

Totally was rooting for the Wolves against the Lakers in the 2004 playoffs. I always liked Flip. I was hoping against hope my Clippers would try to hire him around 2008. By all accounts a good dude.

Did not realize how much I wanted an undefeated warriors team facing off against a winless 76ers team until after the sixers won last night. Why do the Lakers have to suck that much?

I am actually outraged Aaron Gordon didn't win the dunk contest tonight, even though LaVine was solid. Still weird to see a really awesome dunk contest for once.

I watched highlights from the basketball game last night that the Internet is declaring the greatest game in NBA history which I missed. What found funny is ABC is trying out the NFL 1st Down tech for use on the three point line so that people can easily see if a shot was two points or three, but Steph Curry regularly shoots it from so far behind the line it's comical how pointless the line lighting up ends up looking.
