And to show I'm not biased in anyway towards the Kings, here is a Gif from that "other" game that came on tonight. If the Pens make it out of this series alive, MAF is going to propose to that crossbar.

@taxman That Quick save is some Hasek-level craziness.

I was arguing with someone on HFboards that Fleury's last 2 games don't make up for his prior 4 years of hilarious catastrophic failure. The guy said "Don't look at the stats from years ago, look at the stats RIGHT NOW. Germany used to burn all the Jews, but they're good people RIGHT NOW."
I think that's a new low (or high, more accurately) for Godwin's Law.

Must not have watched the Columbus series then, where Fleury wasn't all that good. Also, the Rangers have been in like 5 games in the past 7 days or something like that, and were already not that great of an offensive team. Not really a surprise they came out lethargic the first two games. Good on MAF for rebounding, but if the Pens had a decent backup like last year, he would have been benched after game 4 in the columbus series. Where these goals happened

Ron Hextall named GM in Philly and Peter Laviolette in at Head Coach in Nashville.

So, given the fact that the Blues have re-signed Elliot to a three year deal, and are letting Miller walk, I think the Blues' trade has turned into a decidedly bad deal on their part. And it looks like the Sabres at least know how to rip off stupid GMs in trades. Looks like you were totally right on this one, @taxman .

Now watch the flyers use most if not all of their cap space on miller.
Can't believe there are still people thinking miller will help their teams to the Stanley cup. From penguins to sharks to wild fans I've seen so far. Miller sunk the blues chances at a cup more than helping them.

Miller is still a good goalie; the main reason it was a stupid acquisition was because of what they paid for him in the trade, and because they were doing just fine with the tandem of Elliot and Halak. I'd take Miller over Fleury or Niemi any day, for instance, although Miller will probably go somewhere that will overpay $6mil a year for him, which, yeah, the Flyers are totally the kind of team that would sink $36mil over 6 years for Miller or something idiotic like that.

He's 33, so of course Philly would sign him until he's almost 40--but I get the feeling that they want to see what they really have with Mason before jumping ship. I could see him winding up with the Pens, I think they've had enough of post season MAF. I always kind of liked Miller too, that would come to an abrupt end should he end up there.

Miller isn't that good, he is an average goalie that had one great year and constantly gets overrated. Miller will only be a slight upgrade for the pens by not totally blowing it in the playoffs, they will just lose in a respectable manner. He isn't going to be what gets them back to a cup though.
As far as Niemi goes, that's a wash. I think they are on the same level, Miller just had that one good year so people are constantly touting that as if he will be able to reach it again when I think 4 to 5 years removed it was clearly a fluke. The blues went from a defensive juggernaut with Halak/Elliot to letting in everything with Miller.

The Blackhawks played 38 minutes of fantastic hockey.
Then, they stopped!

The Blackhawks played 38 minutes of fantastic hockey. Then, they stopped! I fell asleep on the couch in the second intermission, then woke up for the post-game. Imagine my surprise. I'm rooting for LA in this one, if the Rangers fall short of the cup I'd like to see Gabby get it.

Strategy for the Kings in the next game: Take as many penalties as possible. Hawks' power play is like their own penalty kill. That last goal by the Hawks just drove the knife in deeper. If not for Roszival's stupid penalty--something the Hawks are known for these days--we could be heading to OT. Who knows? Glad Sharp got one, though. Not TOO worried, though. Hawks are at their best when they're down in the series. Me on Monday--> Hawks win! Hawks win! (Hopes he isn't wrong)

Brian MacLellan named the Washington Capitals new GM, Barry Trotz the new coach. Fuck. I wanted the Canes to hire Trotz. *sighs*

I wanted the Canes to hire Trotz. *sighs* Canes just lost this round of Trotz or Tortz I think Kevin Dineen is a much more likely option than Tortz to be honest. Dineen took a shitty team to the playoffs and then struggled with them when the roster remained shitty; Tortz failed to bring a talented Canucks roster to the postseason, and his replacement in NYC is quite likely going to be playing in the Stanley Cup Finals next week. The Canes are a worse team than the Canucks, and I really don't think Trotz is going to take them to the playoffs. The Canes are certainly better than the Panthers though, and we don't know how Dineen will do with an actually decent team. Throw in the fact that Dineen was the first captain of the Carolina Hurricanes, and the organization seems to like bringing back former Hurricanes to join their coaching staff/front office, and I think Dineen's the most likely pick for the next head coach in Raleigh.

Maybe we can pull an LA and come back to win this series.

Well, this is one crazy game between the Rangers and Habs. Nice to be able to watch hockey like this without nearly having a heart attack every two minutes (although I would like to see the Kings and Hawks have at least one close/exciting game).

I knew we weren't going to win that game, but Jesus I didn't think it would be so bad that Lundqvist would get pulled. Hopefully we bounce back and pull it off at home tomorrow night.

HERE WE GO, BLACKHAWKS. If you don't come out in the third like you started and give it your all, you deserve to lose. Just can't seem to sustain that fire for more than one period this series, and it's a, uh, pretty good time to change that.
LET'S. GO.
THESE LAST 20 MINUTES ARE GOING TO MAKE ME A NERVOUS WRECK AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

5 MINUTES LEFT 4-4 THIS IS THE MOST NERVE-WRACKING GAME I'VE WATCHED SINCE LAST ROUND AND THE ROUND BEFORE THAT AND LAST YEAR.

Ideally I should watch elimination games from the sanctuary of a warm bath, where it's nearly impossible to be anxious. I'm a lifetime Habs fan, though I have an anxiety-reducing pessimism regarding their chances this year--the Rangers seem a bit smarter in terms of figuring out where the puck is likely to end up.

In a pool of water is exactly where a Habs fan belongs. BECAUSE OF DIVING! BURN!!!!!!!!!

Ouch! Hey, my psyche! (*calls for ambulance, though people stop listening to him once he insists that the sirens must be extra loud*)
Plekanec's dive was just terrible, I agree, and I'm glad they called him on it.
