Did you see the pic Montypark posted of himself? Him complaining about not being able to get laid is like.... Someone who should have no problem getting laid if they weren't deliberately sabotaging themselves complaining about not being able to get laid. And something bad happens!

The Savage Love comments are quickly becoming one of my favorite reads on the A.V Club at least for idiotking's oversharing and NudeViking letters.
Side note :
One day, one of my comments will make it to the Commies thread. And you'll finally be proud of me mommy !

The fact that you have complimented Montypark meant I thought that you were someone who sees all guys' good traits more than anything else. Which would ordinarily make me happy... But like you said...I'm a needy little bitch. (This may come off as unclear or obtuse, and just so you know, this is something I would feel weird saying here and ordinarily I'd PM you, but then you wouldn't respond, so I'm forced to say something vague here.) And you're right, though, with what you said on the AVC. Misery can be addictive and a hard habit to break. It can be very difficult. But I'm all for people overcoming it, cause I know how shitty it is. That being said, idiotking, I may need some advice tomorrow

And if we put together Karaoke this weekend, you're definitely invited.

If that guy isn't getting laid, there is something seriously wrong with him. Was that insensitive? I don't really care.

Indeed. I spent an hour the other night just reading recent letters that I had missed. It's great stuff.

I've met him in person (and lived to tell the tale!) and yeah, he's certainly not unattractive. He wasn't even the creepiest guy there! But he was definitely awkward, and judging from posts on AVC, he has some weird standards. Because seriously, he could just hang out in Echo Park for a while and be fine as long as he didn't say anything.

Slightly changing the subject a bit, but that photo heightens my suspicion that everyone in LA has a headshot at the ready at all times. True or am I just making Hilarious Observations about HollyWeird?

True or am I just making Hilarious Observations about HollyWeird? Well, I don't have a head shot. Neither do most of my friends, because we're all nerds who want to be behind the scenes. A lot of people do, but I wouldn't say it's even a majority. LA is really big, and only like 2% even work in the entertainment industry.

But at the same time, taking professional pictures for an online dating profile is something everybody should be doing. Nobody wants to see dirty bathroom mirror selfies!

Montypark's a writer/director/actor, he needs a headshot.
I had a friend who had professional pictures taken for dating sites. He was shirtless on a lawn chair. We're not friends anymore.

Professional pics for dating sites can be weird. If they're taken specifically for a dating site I usually find that kind of offputting. But happening to have professional shots around for a decent reason and using them makes sense.
My most recent ex had one for his OK Cupid profile (he works in theater) and it definitely helped draw my initial attention.

Man, you guys are putting me off from getting a professional pic done for dating sites. I refuse to put up any of my actual pics for sites because I hate how I look in photographs. It's possible I'm just really unattractive and cameras don't lie, but still, any advantage you can get right? Meeting people is hard .

Is it just photos you pose for that you hate, or do you hate candids as well? I've found that often if I let someone catch me unawares in a picture just looking and acting natural I like that better than ones I pose for, so if you haven't maybe you could try that.

I've considered that before, but I'm rarely unaware of the camera, so I try to avoid it. There are just way too few pictures of me in general because most of my friends don't take pictures, and when people do I avoid them. I realize I'm the problem in this situation...

I do not trust anyone who has a professional picture as their main/primary/only photo on a dating website or app. I insist on seeing un-retouched, casual, non-professional photos for verification. I got burned one too many times by guys who looked gorgeous... After spending $500 on someone who knows how to use Photoshop. The closest I had were some photos that a friend took with a professional camera. I still hated the way I looked in almost all of them. Right now though, I'm trying to get in shape and svelte enough that I can get another beach photo taken and look decent in it, because my beach photo is my favorite, and everyone likes it, and it's about six years old and getting increasingly implausible. Also, Inamine: yes. So much yes.

This really is one of the best things to happen on the Old Country. Good show, Nudeviking. Good show. The more I do this, the more I find certain words and phrases of the Gilded Age creeping into real life. Yesterday I nearly sent a work related email that included the line, "The updated prices will become valid in a fortnight's time." I have a new found, hither unknown level of respect for noted gimmick poster Cookie Monster since his gimmick is more likely to attract looks of dismay if executed outside of the internet. Mine just gets "why did you use the word 'fastidious' instead of 'detail oriented' in this report?"

So, I get a passing mention in an un-official pre-nomination process for a virtual price made up by a group of people who where displeased with the comment system on a website, because they felt it hindered their off-topic banter on a weekly article? THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY OF MY LIFE!
