Original comment got deleted but I like your comeback out of context. Yeah, he did seem troll-y... his comment re. mine about his woeful ignorance of the real UK political situation was "Shouldn't you be down the pub?" (Now wondering if he was a Fatman ID.) ( Edit: Confirmed.) |

I realize I just turned this thread into two old guys comparing their bloodwork. (well one old guy I guess). |

I painted both upstairs bathrooms today.
The minor accomplishment part was actually setting a date to do it and buying paint, though we picked out the color at more than six months ago.

I made it to work on time* today despite staying out late to go to the super secret midnight cabaret last night...
*for a value of on time that would require me to stay later than I actually plan to for it to be a 'full' work day but still technically within our business hours.

The place we found for trivia up in North Carolina had a 5 week contest where the highest cumulative score would win a brewery tour. We won 3 out of the 5 weeks, plus lost on a tiebreaker this week. So in addition to our food and drinks being free, we also won the brewery tour. (Mrs. Rumak and I with a little bit of an assist from the kids). I hope we're still here to use the tour.

I agreed to take over the website for my professional discussion group, which while updated with content regularly had not had Wordpress or plugins updated in six years. I updated everything (by which I mean did exactly what Wifemate told me to do while she watched) and am now able to fix things and make them pretty all by myself.

Circa 2013: Buy cute oxford-style "shooties" for fall/winter shoes. (I hate that term, but it's accurate.)
Fall 2015: shoes are super beat up. Buy new boots, toss shooties in back of closet.
Summer 2016: Decide I'd really like to wear shooties again if at all possible. Take them to nearby shoe repair place, where scuffs are mostly polished out, they are re-heeled and partly re-soled and generally polished up and improved for less than half what I originally paid for them. Feel like I have new shoes to wear for fall. Rejoice.

Despite putting it off until the last minute (i.e,. half-a-month before my coverage expired), I was able to successfully replace my student health insurance with real insurance through the healthcare.gov exchange (despite Missouri's attempts to cripple it here) so that I have coverage as of the first of this month. Thanks, Obama!

I'm by no means a neat freak but this week I've thoroughly cleaned out the vacuum cleaner and washed the filters (and replaced the HEPA filter), emptied the kitchen trash and recycling into the larger garage bins, went through the large pile of mail on the counter and sorted and recycled a ton of it, then washed all the extraneous dishes and actually cleaned the kitchen sink.
Ahhh. Very satisfying.

Our construction job is still probably several weeks away, but we've successfully managed to clean out the entire garage. And never had any melt-downs or freak-outs or crying recriminations in the doing! It's unheard-of!

Yesterday morning it was raining when I left for work, and I remembered to get all the little leaves and fallen pine needles out from under my windshield wipers before I started them!
