Put together the stand I bought for my new record player yesterday! It was significantly more difficult than the plant stand, but significantly less difficult than the new desk my father helped me put together last weekend. I am very proud of myself for this. It looks really good, and I got to spin some Van Halen tunes last night while prepping dinner.

And yesterday I replaced our bedroom curtains! I don't know why it took me so long, but it's a big improvement and wasn't terribly expensive for the whole lot.

I installed eight sets of blinds in our new house, about half of what we need total, never having done it before, and went from it taking about 45 minutes for the first set to about 10-15 for the last. Once we get some more sets cut, those should go up quickly.

I did tarot card readings for all my friends at a party last night and they all got something from it and were entertained.
(Note: I do not think tarot cards are telling me anything from beyond or predict anything. I tell people I think of them as a way to meditate on a problem, basically)

We're trying to muck out the barn and secure pen today, and so far I've made three emergency field repairs to the skid steer. The drive belt for the hydraulics broke, and I found one that fit , on an unrelated piece of equipment, and I've spliced two broken wires.

The drive belt for the hydraulics broke, and I found one that fit , on an unrelated piece of equipment, and I've spliced two broken wires. Before the day was over, the cable from the relay to the starter also broke off, right at a connector. I couldn't find a replacement connector, so I stole the starter cable off our old, non-working riding mower, and finally got the thing up and running again. It took maybe a couple of hours to clean out the barn and pen, and the rest of the day scrounging up parts and making repairs.

Our garbage disposal failed in spectacular fashion this weekend, spraying water under the sink. It may have been all those coffee grounds I have been pouring in there. I did not really like it much anyway so I pulled it out, got a new strainer and re-plumbed the sink without a disposal. It took maybe 10 PVC cuts as I tried to be careful not to trim too much. The proud comes in as I did it all with just one trip to the hardware store.

I realized my dresser was a big ole dusty pile of ... stuff. I had a large nail polish display (none of which I've worn in years), framed photos, several jewelry boxes and an organizer with things hanging on it, random photos, jewelry also just lying on the dresser itself, lotion bottles... a cluttered mess.
I took everything off, tossed all the old nail polish, cleaned the display, put some things aside that I can donate, dusted everything, cleaned the surface and ordered a second jewelry organizer which will arrive today. Very satisfying.

Repaired my Epiphone Les Paul guitar all by myself* without requiring any assistance. A couple of the electric contacts needed cleaned, the selector switch needed to be removed and re-mounted to be solid and not sit at an alarmingly-easy-to-knock 45 degrees and I adjusted the action on it. It plays rather lovely now!
* OK one tuning peg needs to be replaced and I'm getting that done professionally because I don't want to fuck up the head of the guitar. But other than that!

If I get a new guitar, it would be an Epiphone Les Paul - unless the gods smile on me and I come into enough money for a Gibson Les Paul, of course.

You have to be careful with Epi Les Pauls -- I have two, but the quality control is kind of lax in my experience, so you have to play them in the store; some play amazingly and some are just terrible.

I bought this one in 1993, and though it needed some TLC it's still going strong.

Looks fine. I can almost hear myself fumbling through the Day Tripper riff on one.

I finished and submitted my final paper for this class before dark on the day it's due, without either overthinking or half-assing it, while in the middle of a very firm work deadline and after having hosted ten people for Friendsgiving this weekend!

Ordered a small carry-on suitcase which is actually the right size for the airlines I regularly fly with and which also has enough room for me to get all my few-days-away stuff in. Managed to get it in a 20% off sale and it's spectacularly light.
In unrelated news, I'm going away for a few days (Big Birthday looms).

I installed a ceiling fan by myself! (there was already a fan in place, and it was the same brand, so the mounting pieces matched. So not that big a deal).

Today I took the door apart on Old Blue, my 82 S10 truck, and got the window back up after it fell down the last time I rolled it down. I need to find some parts to fix the window, but now I can drive it without freezing. I also fixed the headlights on the tractor.

Once upon a time Wifemate wanted to make vodka infusions. It was fine. What's important is, one of the infusions was chocolate, and after filtering out the solids I had this small bowl of, essentially, alcoholic chocolate icing. That would probably be good for something! so I sealed it and put it in the fridge.
Fast forward ten years, the most recent 7+ of which were in our house, and I finally got around to using this icing on my chocolate birthday cake. It is still very alcoholic, so nothing grew on it. And it was really good on the cake!
