As a former mathlete, from time to time I like to download some problems from recent math competitions and try to solve them in my spare time. There's an educational summer camp for high school students called MathPath; students need to pass a "qualifying test" of between 5 and 10 problems in order to get in. I can solve most of them, and I've been typing up the solutions for my own amusement. I'M 44 YEARS OLD AND I'M STILL GOOD AT HIGH SCHOOL MATH. WOOHOO!

I called and cancelled service for my Mi-fi device, saving me roughly $20 a month for something that I was rarely using.

My editor texted me a few minutes ago saying my writing's improved a lot since I joined. Yay.

I've been working here (a large workplace supply wholesaler) for 7 years and I just learned how to order merchandise for myself (at cost!) and how to see what's in stock at our local warehouse. Cases of printer paper and 36-packs of animal crackers, here I come.

I PROPERLY POSTED A WIKIPEDIA CITATION WITHOUT MAKING A SINGLE ERROR OR MISTAKE! With the proper formatting, too. I think that's the first time this has happened!

My proudest achievement: I can type 70-80 words a minute, using only my right hand. I never bothered learning to type properly. I typed an entire 90000 word novel this way.

Only recently learned that Comedy Bang Bang used my "Would You Rather?" scenario on an episode with Bob Odenkirk and the Birthday Boys. It resulted in Bob Odenkirk admitting "I'm starting to see the attraction of giving birth to a burrito."
Super proud.

I'm getting a casual to manage (see: boss around) for a couple of days as we do a very important (see: not actually that important) project. I'm moving up in the world.

I went to the hardware store, bought a mini screwdriver, opened up my pocket radio, and hot-glued the bits that were rattling around inside it. It still works, mostly!

I finally mended my moccasin, a month after it came unlaced. Also two bras whose underwires have been poking out.

My lifetime total of poopy diapers changed has now reached the double digits. Don't even hesitate anymore.
Also, apparently baby girls menstruate occasionally in the first few months. Which is weird.

I don't really consider this minor but I finally got all of the border off our bathroom wall. Took me two days. Now I can clean it up a bit and tape and paint. We've only lived here four years.

Oh my god, I deserve a medal.
I thought all I needed was some painter's tape.
The old tray we had was caked with paint and has a roller stuck to it. The first roll of tape I got was awful. I finally got everything clean and taped and ready and the leftover paint was bad! So I made two extra trips, stood there getting my paint matched at Home Depot in my sweaty workout clothes, and ... Ugh. Remind me never to do that again.

I had to do that fairly often given my philosophy of "measure once, cut once, return to Home Depot for more lumber, measure again, cut again."

I drank spectacularly heavily at the weekend with no ill-effects. At least, no ill-effects that are apparent yet.

I finished all my work for the week, leaving me roughly 2 hours to stare blankly into space waiting for something else to happen. Has Ultraman shrunk to human size, or is that a gigantic martini?

As minor as could be: I had 25 notifications in a 5-hour space here at the end of last week, more than I've ever seen at one time.

Ahem, on a 90 degree day, I can consume a soft-serve ice cream cone in its entirety without a single drip and without the aid of napkin. Yaaay!

After numerous tedious delays, I finally got in the online portion of my visa application the other day. All that's left is a biometrics appointment and mailing my passport to the British Consulate. So close, so close…

There was a fly in the house and when it flew past me one time I just reached out and grabbed it. I tried to act like it was no big thing, but inside I was like "holy fuck, I can't believe I caught that fly!"
