Today I discovered that since going to the gym in late January, I've dropped two pant sizes. Suck it, fattiness! As you've just discovered this today, I must assume you have spent the interim pantsless.

On Saturday I went to the opticians to get my eyes checked out for the first time as an adult because I'm 31 and had been told numerous times that I probably should since it's not always obvious when your vision ain't what it used to be. I'm glad I went because the optometrist informed me that I had the best eyesight of anyone she'd seen. I have no reason to be as proud of that as I am.

I didn't laugh at the girl in the hallway who just walked by even though both her shoes squeaked like farts.

I'm hugely happy about how much butthurt my comment on the 'masterful' Patton Oswalt tweets is getting (because, for the record, I was just commenting on how 53 tweets where a bunch of them are one word repeated being called masterful is kind of Peak AVC Patton Crush and everyone thinks I was making some comment on either him or the original Trevor Noah furore). EDIT: After a day, 359 upvotes on that! Guess there's a lot of HHGG fans around...

I managed to save up $2.90 in fuel perks from the grocery store, which means a free tank of gas. The needle is on E now, but I feel like driving around and around the gas station until the engine stalls out and then coast up to the pump.

Your vehicle has a 1.2 gallon tank? $2.90 off per gallon, silly! Wonder if they'll notice me filling a trashcan too.

It's been bouncing up and down for months.

I did some conversion maths and it turns out I pay close to $8 a gallon and it was hovering at about $10 for a large part of last year. Screw you guys.

When I fill up on gas and fill it to a round dollar amount. It doesn't even matter, because typically I pay by debit, so I don't need exact change, and I use a discount card so the amount ends up being slightly cheaper anyway. BUT STILL.

I was down a minor piece with a pawn disadvantage, Black's Queen and Rook were swarming around my King. With a villainous sneer (It was an Internet game so I can't be sure they were sneering, but come on they were totally sneering) my opponent unveiled the move he believed would eliminate the last of my valiant defenders and ensure my defeat. But then, a twist! I sprung a trap cunningly laid several turns ago, ordering my Queen to the enemies back rank and setting up an inescapable back rank checkmate! Gripped by despair, my foe saw no recourse but to leave the game in a cowardly and despicable fashion with nary a 'good game' or 'you are the greatest Chess player I have ever encountered'.
Translation: I was losing a Chess game, but then turned it around and totally pwned that jerkface.

A week after upgrading my phone to the latest version of Android, and having to do a factory reset in order to be able to charge the thing, I finally got it to sync with my computer and get my music back on to it.

I found and removed the piece of paper which had been jammed in my home printer for the last two weeks or so, and now I can print again without having to go to the library.

Earlier today I was able to write, publish and share 2 breaking news stories all over our social media platforms faster than usual, one of which managed to get published and shared before the local TV station did it. They usually beat us to stuff like that.

Braced myself and checked my bank balance for the first time since October. It was as I expected - if I was being realistic rather than optimistic. I should get through the long, erratically paid summer, anyway. Then I'll think about buying the new turntable.

So, good on you for biting the bullet. Glad to hear it's in solid shape.

For me, getting through a day without looking at my bank balance and credit card balances would be an accomplishment. (Have I mentioned I'm a little obsessed with my personal finances?)

I loaned an old sculpture of mine to the Lawrenceville free "Art All Night" show this past weekend. Which means that hundreds of people saw my art in person. And I survived!

I just wasted several days arguing about religion with this jerkface. And I survived! LIES How can you accuse this man of intolerance? HE HAS BEEN TO OVER 70 GAY PRIDE MARCHES. That's my new favourite bigotry dodge. How dare you call me a racist! I'll have you know I have been to the homes of every black family that has moved into this neighbourhood, and the very evening they arrive in fact. THE FRONT LAWN IS PART OF THE HOME.

I've had some psoriasis on the back of my neck along my hairline for over a year now. The dermatologist wanted to give me a $70 prescription and I thought "surely I can try some home remedy myself first." It's a bit itchy and flaky sometimes, but not horrible (though I have no idea what it looks like).
I've been using T-Gel shampoo and it helps some, but last week I finally had the lightbulb moment: why not try some hydrocortisone? I've been slathering some on before bed and lo and behold ... about 90% less itchy and flaky. I'm both a little proud of this and embarrassed I didn't try it sooner.

Did 5 pull-ups at the gym today.
Of course it helps that this guy who's more than twice my size helped me by letting me use his knee as a base for me to pull myself up, but it counts dammit!
