10 Reasons Why This Generation Is Losing The Ability To Be In Love
Really? I think there are quite a few people in my generation who are: 1) Still falling in love (particularly queer people, who now have the privilege of equal marriage). 2) Realizing that there are other avenues to happiness that are not all about finding 'the one' and starting a family 3) Feeling more freedom in their sexual choices. Maybe it's just me, but I think it's rather telling the article was written by a guy. I love how these articles always define Generation Y with traits that only apply to upscale white yuppies in NYC. I'm also pretty sure that alcohol use is down with the current generation, but I don't care enough to actually look up statistics there. But taboola is telling me that millennials are ditching wine delivery for this one cool hack - and you won't believe how Obama is involved.

So Kevin Drum, the very even-headed, hard-to-unsettle-or-excite fifty-something liberal blogger at Mother Jones is battling cancer, so they’re having a bunch of the junior writers sub in to make up for his reduced output, which makes the following headline even funnier in context of his regular writing: 71 Years Ago FDR Dropped a Truthbomb That Still Resonates TodayIt’s also a bit odd in that the author claims modern Democrats never mention FDR, seems kind of wrong (per americanrhetoric.com Obama last mentioned him in a formal speech in January , which doesn’t seem that long ago to me).

Ugh. Despite being named for the salons, it's the place where thinking goes to die. Jean-Luc Lemur Shame that he replaced Wallace with Truman a year later, though.

I'm also pretty sure that alcohol use is down with the current generation, but I don't care enough to actually look up statistics there. Apropos of nothing, but, speaking as a dead-center Gen-Xer, I'm so fucking sick of millennial-bashing. It looks as if it's largely replaced boomer-bashing, which made a lot more sense on a class warfare basis. Not least as it seems to crop up every time there's an open-ended discussion on society at the Old Country. Jean-Luc Lemur That sucks about Drum; I hadn't heard about that. I think there was definitely a reorientation among Dem pols towards referring to the 90s as a kind of golden age (something on which I have very mixed feelings, and which I did at the time, to boot), and often without referring directly to Clinton (which I expect to see change more than a little in the next few months) but I seriously doubt it's displaced FDR in party affections.

It's like someone just discovered The Devil in Miss Jones and Behind the Green Door! 70s nostalgia is back in full force.

16 Red Pandas Who Are Living Their Best Life How is that even grammatical? For realz, though. Is "their best life" some recent hipster locution I'm unaware of or did TWO people write a simple headline that defies English syntax? Holy guacamole, man. Humanity's failed. Planned extinction. It's time to end the experiment.

From Salon:
"This little girl just learned about death for the first time watching “The Lion King.” Her reaction is everything."
I am starting to get pretty fucking allergic to the use of the word "everything" in these headlines.

I admit to being somewhat curious as to what his initial expectations were, vis a vis pouring hot aluminum into a watermelon. But I resisted on principle.

I was going to post that headline with pretty much the same exact thought this morning, FIH. And there was one next to it that read along the lines of "It's Headed For Earth And There's Nothing We Can Do To Stop It" but it isn't there anymore. Maybe it already hit and so it's yesterday's news now. I dunno. I didn't feel anything. Did you guys?
