Time to confess to the things which would get you deported from The Old Country.
Me: I've not watched The Simpsons in nearly 15 years, I tried to watch Deadwood three times and got bored each time, and I never got further than two episodes of Terriers.

I never got further than two episodes of Terriers. I'm not saying you'll necessarily like it, but I watched the first two episodes over the course of two weeks, and didn't understand the big deal, but when I watched the third, suddenly I was addicted and pretty much binge watched the rest.

I didn't watch beyond about two episodes of Arrested Development. One episode of Community.
I think Firefly is just OK.

I've not watched The Simpsons in nearly 15 years If we're talking current Simpsons, this is more or less true for me. My Simpsons heresies? I probably watched them mostly in reruns and syndication, I've never seen "Homer's Enemy," can't really tell which episodes are from which season, and my favorite episode's likely "The Computer Wore Menace Shoes" from the unfashionable (post-?) shark-jump Season 10. That would be the Prisoner homage, which was all the stranger as the really funny shit was the stuff that happened outside the Village (or "Island"). "Ahhn't there any evil movies on? Maybe something about an evil island?" "Y'know, Dad, there's something different about you." "Ah, yes, I am, uh, new tie-vearink." "Yeah, that must be it." Others... I don't follow podcasts, am not really familiar with standup in general, don't give a shit about the MCU (and probably even less about the DC version). I don't have cable, pay or otherwise, and thereby miss out on all the hot shows until much later. I can also be sluggish on catching up with Hulu (the only show I currently follow is Vikings). Also, the only AVC joke memes I find remotely funny are " The A.V. Club" and "wtf is starz lol." There've got to be more, but I think any other issues I have with the site or the culture are amply covered by existing and thorough commenter mockery.

While I understand the misogynistic tendencies and other problematic aspects of them, I enjoy Zack Snyder, Seth McFarlane and Daniel Tosh.

I also got tired of Deadwood. I watched a bunch of episodes, I think I made it through Season 2, but I don't know - maybe I didn't The inexplicable one for me is Joy Division. I have no idea why I have never liked them, they're pretty much the definition of the music I listened to at the time. I'm OK with Joy Division, but New Order is like nails down a blackboard for me, especially Blue Monday.

- I've only seen one episode of Simpsons. - I think there are 5-10 great episodes of Community and the rest will age very, very, very badly. - I don't like superhero movies. So far the only one I've seen that I liked was...none. There hasn't been one. The best, like Guardians of the Galaxy and Batman Begins, are "tolerable" but that's it. - I can't remember the last time I saw a Nicholas Cage movie. It was probably Adaptation two years ago. - I don't really listen to any popular music from after 1980.

I think Game of Thrones, Fargo, The Knick, and Better Call Saul are perfectly average shows. And I love The Leftovers.
(Edited to add The Knick)

I think Community is way too far up its own ass and I have no interest in it.
I've never seen an episode of Mad Men or Breaking Bad (I'm not opposed to them, just never watched... Breaking Bad is on the someday list).

It's almost like the community there and here is not a monolith of identical interests.

I've never seen The Wire, Game Of Thrones, Fringe, Arrow, or The Flash and I don't plan on it any time soon. I've never seen an episode of Community. I've also never seen House Of Cards. I didn't have Netflix until just this year.
I stopped watching Breaking Bad after the second season because I hated every single character on the show.
I don't like My Bloody Valentine, because I find them a chore to listen to. I think Radiohead is an ok band, but not a great one.
I feel like I haven't done enough drugs in my life (and that's really saying something) to appreciate Reggie Watts or the Tim and Eric Show.
Felt good to get that off my chest.

You are certainly not missing out on the US version of House of Cards. Hell, the British version is miles better and yet I wouldn't call it one of the best UK TV shows of the 90s.

My list of AV Club faux-pas:
I unironically like Nicolas Cage as an actor, and have very positive things to say about his work in the 'decline' of Cage's career.
I don't care for Amy Schumer.
I enjoy post-golden years episodes of the Simpsons.
I hate The Strokes.
Bruce Springsteen is alright.
I thought that Breaking Bad was alright.

–I've never watched Mad Men or Breaking Bad (although I plan to watch BB later this year)
–Watched an episode of Community. It was okay and I can see why it attracts a cult audience, but it wasn't for me.
–Steven Soderbergh and Paul Thomas Anderson I think are perfectly solid directors, but I don't really get their massive worship (I'll admit I haven't seen their entire filmographies, so maybe I'm just missing out on one great film).
–The Knick was overrated (it was fine).

–Watched an episode of Community. It was okay and I can see why it attracts a cult audience, but it wasn't for me. Can you please explain it to me, then? I liked the show quite a bit, but I cannot wrap my head around its cult of personality. What am I not seeing? I see it as a little bit like Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and Twin Peaks (although certainly not as good as those two) in how it just has a very specific, postmodern type of humor where you're either on the frequency or you're not. I'll also fully admit I don't like it, but I don't hate it, so I don't think about it too much. If others like it, good for them.

– I’ve never seen a full episode of any Star Trek series or movie.
– I don’t like Star Wars or superhero movies.
– I started watching one episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and shut it off because it didn't have Kristy Swanson or Luke Perry in it.
– I don’t like the Beatles. I recognize their importance and influence and blah blah blah, but I find both McCartney and Lennon completely unappealing as singers/frontmen.
Hey, is this just a stealth reboot of the Unpopular Opinions thread?

I think A.A. Dowd is a good and interesting writer who is generally fair.
The Big Bang Theory is fun. ABC sitcoms may not be revolutionary but they often make for good TV.
