I won't pay full price for it, but I am looking forward to playing High on Life eventually. This is the game from Rick & Morty creator Justin Roiland. I like Rick & Morty and Roiland's other shows and guest appearances, but that's not really what captured me. In fact, a full game of Roiland voice acting and humor sounds like it could be unbearable. But, I can't get over how the game looks. A colorful first-person shooter, with DOOM-esque world design (verticality, hidden areas). It has a Bioshock sheen to it that we simply don't see these days. Here's Giant Bomb's quick look.

Were you able to beat Persona V, liebkartoffel? Heh, is Yoshitsune's Hassou Tobi the best physical ability in the game?...(yes). I've actually only beaten it twice--well, OG once and Royal once. C's the true P5 fanatic in the family. I wouldn't be surprised if she's poured 500 or 600 hours into it.

Signalis: There is absolutely no reason to play this game. Fuck spoilers--this is Silent Hill 2 in space, so much so that if Konami gave a shit they could sue these people. Also I'm extra-pissy because I got softlocked on a puzzle 2 hours in and I fucking hate having my time wasted, and I'm not going to give a modern game a pass on shit like that just because "classic survival horror" did it 20+ years ago.

Death Stranding Directors Cut is free at the Epic Games Store. So weird. It showed as free when I brought it up, then a glitch happened where it logged me out and the launcher froze, and when I logged back on it's now showing it as discounted on the "free" page only. EDIT - Now it is only Death Stranding that is free instead of the director's cut. Grabbed it though!

Yeah I just checked my library and now I've got the regular version and a second entry called "Death Stranding Content". Whatever, I didn't pay for it.

Picked it up, too. Nice to preemptively save the 10 bucks I expected to one day pay for it.

PC GamePass is awesome.
Deathloop: I actually don't know, because the constant tutorials every time literally anything happens irritated me so badly I quit playing. I'm talking *get shot* *TUTORIAL: TAKING DAMAGE: When you take damage, it means you got hurt. Try to heal it with healing items* *pick up healing item**TUTORIAL: HEALING ITEMS: Healing items heal you when you take damage* Who was this made for? Did they expect a mindfuck sci-fi first person shooter to be the first videogame someone played in their whole life? Prodeus: FUCK YEAH SLAYERRRRRRR!!!!!

I thought nothing could dethrone Power Wash Simulator for GOTY, but Vampire Survivors might just do so.

More updates:
Chorus: This RULES. It's third-person Descent and it feels good as hell flying your ship around and using your psychic powers. Highly recommended. Serious Sam 4: This is the game Duke Nukem Forever should have been. It's more Serious Sam, if that sounds good to you, that's what you're getting. Vampire Survivors: I don't understand the hype at all. This is barely even a game--I've seen visual novels with more interactivity. I would say it's Cookie Clicker with a coat of Castlevania paint, but fuck, at least in Cookie Clicker you, y'know, click on cookies. This is really more of a slot machine than a videogame IMHO.

I commend the fact that you were somehow able to stomach playing The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV for 60+ hours Eh, on the one hand, I liked it. I was intrigued by the idea of a massive shared JRPG universe and the story is compelling-ish by JRPG standards. I enjoyed the combat system, which had something of a learning curve (...before becoming trivially easy once you figure out the exploits and have enough to craft the requisite materia quartz). On the other hand, I quit right before the final dungeon because I got distracted by Pokemon and now Tactics Ogre and I'm...not particularly motivated to jump back in.

There's a new source port called The Force Engine for Star Wars Dark Forces which is very easy to install and works like a charm--highly recommend link

According to my Steam Replay, I spent 56 hours on Subnautica this year and 42 hours on Dwarf Fortress, which is pretty good considering it just came out a few weeks ago.

ABz B👹anaz What are the best Warhammer 40K video games? Not exactly an expert on this, as the few that I've played I've only played a little bit. Space Marine is a pretty decent third-person shooter, and there's a sequel coming out in 2023. Mechanicus SEEMS like a good turn-based strategy game, but it's so fucking hard I haven't played more than a few levels.

The newish Daemonhunters? is supposed to be quite good for a warhammer xcom-ish game (and made by a friend of mine) but I'm ashamed to admit I haven't had time to play it yet.

Ha, my Steam Replay is three games (No Man's Sky 62%, Star Wars:The Old Republic 34%, and Talisman Digital Edition 2%) and then five other games. Haven't played anything on Steam for any length of time since June.

Finished The Last of Us last night. Oof. Joel and Ellie's final conversation fucking floored me. So, did you try to wait it out in the operating room, or did you get handy with the steel right away?

I'm really starting to think I might miss this console generation. Over two years into release, Demon's Souls and Ratchet are still the only PS5 exclusives I want to play. This is based on my assumption that both Ragnarok and FFXVI will eventually come to PC the way their predecessors did.

Took me a short while here to realise that whereas a man chooses, a slave obeys. (Really good choice though to make this one something that the player needs to do, rather than just have Joel do another murder in a cutscene).
Yeah, the writers must have known they were onto a winner with this one, because it's an exceptionally self-assured way to end the game. Not what I expected at all, though the signs were all there.
Although Nier (Gestalt) comes closest to it in video games, what it most reminds me of is the ending to Blade Runner (Director's Cut onwards). It's that same tone of brittleness and uncertainty - though unlike Joel, getting there requires Deckard to grow as a person. Obviously I haven't played it yet, but I expect that TLoU part II will probably occupy the same space as Blade Runner 2049 - very good on its own terms, but fundamentally unnecessary.
