I need an external hard drive for my gaming PC. Discovered this when trying to install Red Dead 2 and not having enough space: I've got 117 GB of space, but there's really nothing I can uninstall.
Anyway, anyone have any good external hard drive recommendations for under $200?

As a kid I played the hell out of Lego Racers, a Lego-themed kart racer for N64. It was awesome--you could literally build your own kart! Now it looks like they're finally coming out with a spiritual successor of sorts, except it's also apparently a Forza Horizon-style open world game. I am irrationally excited for this.

No surprise here, but the REm4k3 completely owns. It's excellent. It's better than Dead Space. It feels wonderful in the hands, and the changes are universally good, I think. I'm 4-5 hours in. Just rescued Ashley and was headed back through the village when I had to stop. I can think of some sections that are missing, but I find so far that I haven't minded it, as plenty of new rooms and challenges have been added as well. I like how after the Del Lago fight you can get a boat and explore the lake for secrets, in a section similar to RE8's boat. Mouse and keyboard controls trivialized the Del Lago fight, but that's fine. It's a spectacle. It's not about being hard so much as that it happens at all.
Loving every bit so far.
Apparently if you're a crack shot with a pistol, or have a rifle carried over from a previous game, you can shoot the far off bell tower from the village to stop that big first mob attack early. Love stuff like that.

For the first time in my life I have just played Portal all the way through and am now working my way through Portal 2.
Turns out, surprisingly exactly and precisely nobody, that they are in fact really good!

Breakable weapons confirmed for Tears of the Kingdom My overall issues with BotW have been mentioned a few times in here but I would have probably still picked this up if they'd changed that. Guess I'll wait until I see someone selling a used copy next year.

I got bored last fall with Subnautica after losing a couple of Cyclops. Decided to log back in last night and they added an update that lets you pin the items you want to craft onto your HUD with their ingredients. This means no more flipping back and forth from the crafting menu. It was a huge help and might just motivate me to finally finish the game.
Of course the first thing I did was accidentally jump off a cliff in my Prawn suit and fell about 2,500 meters before imploding.

Of course it's completely in character for Nintendo to stick to their convictions - I expected no less - but bring weapon durability to TofK is so disappointing. Honestly this game's not really on my radar, is not at ALL a day one purchase the way an Odyssey 2 would be.

No surprise here, but the REm4k3 completely owns... I'm a little bit into the castle now, just past the infamous Water Hall (still a clincher but didn't feel as bad as the original), and I'm maybe sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiightly less enthused now. It's fabulously fun, but as a RE4 superfan, I find myself getting more and more irked by the level redesigns as I go. The further I get in, the more the balance seems to tip toward original room layouts, and only occasionally do they "play the hits." But I dunno, could just be how it felt in the last section I completed. I can tell on the map that I've got the hedge maze coming up.
Edit: I decided to put this behind a spoiler since it (very briefly) discusses rooms or moments that are not in the remake, and maybe you're trying to avoid knowing this going in. I mention a few things from the village section of the game that are not in the remake.
Even though there are still equivalent rooms like the Water Hall, so far the remake castle doesn't feel like the original castle the way the remake village felt like the original village. And even the back half of the village had some irksome absences (no cable car! no truck driving at you! no second gigante!). It also commits the sin of not letting me collect my spoils after the cabin fight with Luis. You can collect as you go, but the fight ends with a cut scene of the gang running away. All those pesetas and dropped handgun ammo waiting to be nabbed ... just .... gone.

Yeah, pretty much my reaction too. In other news, I decided to try my free copy of Final Fantasy XV. Does this game get fun at some point? I know I'm early but thus far it's long stretches of being driven around in the car, lots of running when I'm not in the car and really not particularly engaging combat that seems like a less fun version of playing a Tales game. I know I'm a grumpy old school FF fan but heh, I'm just not connecting with this.

Watching review videos of dark games like Resident Evil 4 Remake, Dead Space, or even Elden Ring are so confusing to me. I can barely see a damn thing. Is that really how they like to play? Do people really not MAX the brightness immediately? Why would you not want to be able to see? It's not fun. It's not atmospheric. It's shit!

Put the Xbox Showcase stream on for background listening while I work, and the chat is just getting absolutely bombed by Silksong fans.

I played Vampire Survivors.
Two minutes in I absolutely hated it. Something I hadn't realized from watching videos of it is that you can't control the timing of your attack. That everything is on a timer. And this was additionally frustrated by my choice of the whip guy, who by default can't attack up or down.
And then I played it again ... and then I played it again .... and now I can't stop thinking about it.

Is it the best game you’ve ever played?

Is it the best game you’ve ever played? It is decidedly not. And honestly, after playing again later in the evening and finishing my first level, which entails surviving the endless hordes for at least 30 minutes, I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I'm happy I did it, but it was 30 real-time minutes of pretty much the same thing over and over, just steadily more intense, and the last 3 minutes were absolute hell. I'm gonna play more for sure though.

Seeing that they removed the brief truck-barreling-towards-you-while-you-have-mere-seconds-to-react section has honestly put me off completely. That's such a memorable encounter!

Also removed the inexplicable, fully enclosed hallway in the castle where the two monks try to run you down with a drill.

So yeah, anyway, I beat Resident Evil 4 Remake. It's an excellent remake of an excellent game. I highly recommend it if you like RE4 or if you liked the RE2 and RE3 remakes. It's the best of the three. Even if it's missing some of the original game's kookiest bits.

A frequent comment you'll see about Resident Evil 4 Remake is how much better Ashley is, and I agree with this. She's more engaged in the moment to moment action, she's funnier (she makes a cute RE1 quip, for example), and she actually has a little bit of a character arc. She still ends up horny for Leon, but who doesn't?
Anyway, my favorite Ashley moment is an in-gameplay moment during her section when you're attacked by plagas in suits of armor, and she just screams out, "This sucks!"

the designs in AC 6 look sick but it still kind of feels visually underwhelming and PS 4-ish.
