I'm trying to get through Skyward Sword because I am making myself do so before I get Tears Of The Kingdom and even in the HD remake I fucking hate the controls, especially the fighting. I couldn't get into it the first time because of the controls, and, rebuying it on Switch, I got bored around the first boss on the second playthrough because it was so linear after playing BotW.

I want this.
And Super Mario Wonder looked cool, too, I guess, because 2D Mario games are fun. Super Mario RPG has been at the top of my list of games I want to play with my kids, with Thousand Year Door right behind it, so I can't wait to have access to one of them.

Yeah, this was a good direct. It sealed me going ahead and pre-ordering Pikmin 4 (I had a voucher I needed to use anyway), and I'm definitely planning on getting the two Mario games. I never played RPG (never had a SNES) and I've been wanting to play it on handheld for a while.

I have played Pikmin on GameCube ca. 2020. It was fun. We still have a working GameCube; however, the most recent era of TVs no longer have RGB connectors and we haven't bought an adapter.

The latest title in my "just play whatever I want and the kids can watch if they want to" series is Bioshock Remastered. They're enjoying it well enough. They love the world design and general look, though my son is mostly only interested in the Big Daddy fights. I'm a little worried, because I know that after Fort Frolic the level design gets waaaaaaaay more boring, and that's still almost half a game to go. If they want more of this kind of thing after this one, I'll probably skip Bioshock 2 and go straight to Infinite. More of a crowd pleaser, with way less time spent scrounging around maze-like levels and backtracking. And oh my god the only thing worse than Bioshock 1's Pipe Dreams-esque hacking mini-game is Bioshock 1's Pipe Dreams-esque hacking mini-game played for an audience.
One hiccup is that so far I've been able to play anything that was already on my PC. I'm playing games on the big TV in the living room with my old PC hooked up. That works fine. But we don't have a hard line in the living room, and the PC isn't wi-fi enabled, so we've been limited to whatever I happened to have installed at the time I replaced the machine in my office. Bioshock Infinite is not on that list. I'm finally going to have to plug this thing in and reintroduce it to the internet. After two years. I'm a little worried.

There is/was a 'buy two get one free' sale at Gamestop of all places, so I ordered Tears Of The Kingdom, Metroid Prime Remastered, and Pokemon Legends: Arceus and they should be here sometime this week. In the meantime, I downloaded We ♥️ Katamari REROLL and while I suck from being out of practice (and I used to actually be good at the fire levels!) it quickly reminded me why it's my favorite game ever. It's just so much fun. I'm going to grab a physical copy soon as well and maybe a copy for the Xbone and/or PC too.

It's such raw fun.

Definitely became less enthused when I learned this was going to be a full $60. I mean I'm not surprised by that, but it's still way more than I'm ever looking to spend on one game.

Wrapped up all the dungeons and story quests in Tears of the Kingdom, and now all I need to do is beat Gannon(dorf). Before doing I'm so, I'm currently trying to wrap up all the shrines in the 45 minutes every other day of me-time my newborn is gracious enough to grant me. I can unreservedly say that TotK is better than Breath of the Wild in every conceivable way...except for the sage powers, which suuuuuuuck. Want to use a that cool lightning arrow thingy? Hope you enjoy chasing around an uncooperative NPC for 5 precious seconds while being mobbed by gloom hands and...whoops you've just blown yourself up because you accidentally launched that Goron dude into a bomb flower.

Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire has entered my top ten video games of all time, officially. Just an incredibly detailed, interesting plot. Plus you get to collect stray animals.

I was really enjoying the first game, until I reached the part where your home base gets attacked and there's virtually no way to have your entire party survive the battle, and I quit playing.

New Ratchet, which is to say two year-old Ratchet, completely owns so far. Gosh what a pretty game.
Picked up the new PC release of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. This is the first PS5 "exclusive" I've played. Performance is solid, and it looks great, but there have been some issues with object clipping or walls not loading. A quick death and reset resolves the issue, but it's still annoying. Only happened a couple times in 3 hours though.
Edit: 14 hours and 82% into the game, it has crashed on me maybe 10 times. So it's got some stability issues, but it's still a great game.

Completed Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on PC. Really terrific game. Tons of fun weapons, though maybe one too many "minion" type weapons, and a good variety of planet designs. A decently long campaign as well, took me something like 16 hours for first completion, with NG+ mode adding a couple new weapons and allowing you to further upgrade all the others. Plenty of meat on these single-player bones.
Downsides would be the aforementioned stability issues, though those smoothed out in my later play sessions. Maybe it's already been patched into a better place. I still encountered some frustrating loads when shifting dimensions - that does screw with the game's intended visual pace where quickly shifting between two versions of a world should always be seamless - but I don't think the game has crashed even once since my last report. The requisite arena is kind of bland, and there aren't enough rounds. ("The food is terrible, and the portions?! So small.") I guess they will never match the arena from Up Your Arsenal, but at least they didn't pull that Tool of Destruction bullshit and prohibit weapon XP at the arena. And a final downside is that really none of the weapons feel like they evolve very much as they level, even when maxed. They get more powerful, but the attacks don't look appreciably different, and it never feels like they've added all new mechanics. Could be memory playing with me, but I feel like in UYA and ToD, the weapons all go bonkers when maxed out.
I've only maxed them to 5 though. I've only just started an NG+ playthrough. We'll see.

I'm near the end of Pillars of Eternity, I'm one level away from max (pre-DLC), and every fight I try to do before heading to the game's finale is utterly kicking my ass, and I'm getting REALLY sick of it. Sky Dragon? NOPE! Guardian of Od Nua? HAHAHAHA DIE! The uptick in difficulty is frankly stupid, and I'm playing on the easiest goddamn difficulty.

I got Baldur's Gate III this week-end and played the shit out of it. I'd forgotten how much I love the Fantasy RPG/Half-Elf Dating Sim sub-genre of video game since the last one I played was probably Dragon Age: Inquisition all those years ago. Game's an absolute blast and also waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay hornier than any of the Dragon Ages ever were (I mean there's a dick/vagina menu in the character creation suite and within like two or three hours of playing half the party wanted to fuck my PC). It's also kind of funny how over the top the backstories for every party member / companion is. Makes it feel more like an actual D&D game than these things generally do.

I bought the full Mega Man bundle on Steam. I'm not a huge Mega Man fan or anything, though I do like them, but anyway that's hardly the point. Ten minutes ago I had zero Mega Man games on my PC, and now I have twenty-four.

Frame Fatales going on right now. GDQ's all women charity speedrunning marathon. I haven't watched anything yet, but several VODs are up already on YouTube. I'm looking forward to the Lone Fungus run. Really good Metroidvania that I never beat, because I wanted to complete all the challenge rooms first, and they were too hard for me.

Dang, Blasphemous 2 hitting next week looks so good, but I'm budget-limited at the moment, and Sea of Stars comes out the week after. Gotta make a choice.
Leaning toward Sea of Stars. I play Metroidvanias all the time, but I haven't seen a new turn-based RPG in a long time that really spoke to me the way Sea of Stars does.
