Kind of random, but has anyone else noticed that Maximum Fun's podcast are really finicky about downloading on the iPhone podcasts app?

I've been having a lot of problems with all podcasts in the podcast app. This is only with my iPhone 4, as podcasts will take hours to download. With an iPhone 5 on the same network, they download just fine in a few seconds.

With an iPhone 5 on the same network, they download just fine in a few seconds. I have a 5. Honestly pretty much every show downloads pretty zippily on Wi-Fi. And most download fine on data too, if I happen to be out and about when new shows drop. All except JJHo and MBMBAM, that is, which refuses to download if I'm not on Wi-Fi. I guess it's not really a problem, just an annoyance when I'll be sitting at my desk and see, "oh cool, new podcast! I'll download that now so I can take a walk at lunch and listen to it", but it won't download until I get home.

Haven't listend yet, but last episode of Professor Blastoff dropped today, apparently. Not terribly surprising given how busy the three of them have gotten, especially Tig, and they've clearly been running out of steam for the last year or so, but still sad.

PODCASTS. I started listening to a couple again. These are they: That's Not Metal - 2 guys who have worked in music journalism talking passionately about music. There's a UK bias to it since they're both British but it covers punk and metal from wherever it comes from. Recommended if you miss the LOUD/Metal Box columns on TOC. Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast - Another comedian interviews actors/comedians based podcast. I'm predisposed to like it having been a big fan of Richard Herring going back to his double act with Stewart Lee in The 90s but I think it's good even if you're not familiar with your work. It's always filmed in front of a live audience (hence the Leicester Square Theatre) which is a nice way of separating it out from the rest of the podcast scene.

I decided to start doing a Podmass thread over on the AV Club After Dark and am totally covering this. I'll link you when it goes up, if you like!

'The Edge Of Town': new 'cast from writer Joshua Ellis (one of the smartest & bravest people I know), monologues on what matters to him. Hell of a raconteur - think Lake Wobegon from a cynical potty-mouthed bastard. First one's about Apocalypses.

So of all the McElroy Clan's new podcasts, I'm really enjoying Still Buffering with Sydnee McElroy (Justin's wife) and her little sister Riley. The latest episode How to Memory just shows how crazy kids these days are on social media (but not Facebook which is for old people and businesses). Like you're only supposed to post stuff on Instagram once per day, and you're expected to Like your friends' posts pretty much immediately after its posted, otherwise it means you have a problem with them. And Snapchat Stories? What is this? I don't even.
The valentine's episode was also pretty interesting as it seems that, at Riley's school at least, LBGT relationships are just treated as no big thing. While I don't want to disparage Huntington, which I'm sure is a wonderful city, I've always considered WV as one of those back-water less progressive type states, having had to visit there a few hours one time on work, which I'm sure was enough time to form an accurate assessment.

I LOVE Still Buffering, and the Facebook group for it is tons of fun too. Rileigh is way funnier than she should be at her age.

The latest episode of my podcast, Obscurity Knocks, is now live. This time, my guest is Kurt Fuller, and I'm just going to put this out there: at a certain point, I just decided there was no point in trying to edit out my laughter, because no one was going to hear it over their own, anyway. Check it out, and share it if you like it... obscurityknocks.podbean.com/e/obscurity-knocks-episode-3-kurt-fuller/

Okay, here's a question for the podcast-listening TI masses: who are some actors who you think would be good for Obscurity Knocks?
Here's the criteria I'm trying to use: it's got to either be someone with whom I've already done a Random Roles interview or someone whose profile is not necessarily high enough that you could immediately imagine them doing a Random Roles. This, of course, is because I obviously love doing Random Roles interviews and I don't want this to get in the way of those or be in any way perceived as trying to impede on them.
To give you an example, I'm currently in talks with Barry Primus to do the podcast. He's a guy who, between 1962 and 2016, has been in more than 50 films and made more than 50 TV appearances, and yet he's definitely not what you'd call a high-profile actor.
So have at it: give me all your suggestions! :-)

willharrisinva Jeffrey Combs? I mean I can think of other people, but I'd be lying if I didn't put Jeffrey Combs first. (Nathan Rabin did his Random Roles, also.)

I'm seconding the voice actors, especially Billy West, Maurice La Marche, Tress MacNeille, add in Gray DeLisle.
Others, some you've done Random Roles with, some you haven't: Ian McShane Paget Brewster Jim Beaver Margo Martindale Brad Dourif Brian Cox Joe Morton Gabriel Bryne Jennifer Coolidge Frances Conroy Allison Janney Robin Weigert Sarah Paulson

Your add-in reminded me of this interview, which I did about six months before I started writing for the A.V. Club, but the feature was so unabashedly derivative of Random Roles that I felt guilty continuing it once I started being able to do the real thing: popdose.com/youre-the-voice-grey-delisle/(I also talked to Tom Kenny and Rob Paulsen for the feature, and - to my chagrin - I also interview Gregg Berger, but my recorder malfunctioned and didn't record it! D'oh...)

So have at it: give me all your suggestions! :-) -Ted Levine -Marc Evan Jackson -Jay Jackson, that guy who played Perd Hapley on Parks and Rec, and takes a bunch of other news anchor roles -Inventing a time machine, traveling back to the 1850s, interviewing world-famous Shakespearean actor Edwin Booth, then traveling forward in time to the late 1860s after Booth has left the theater scene in disgrace in the aftermath of his brother's assassinating Abraham Lincoln so that you can explain to him that his entire legacy has been distilled to his relationship to one of history's most infamous assassins, and to the fact that ironically he also once saved Lincoln's son, so you can get his take on his new-found obscurity/trivial nature of his ultimate legacy. I'm not sure if any of the the actually-alive people on this list are too obscure/too famous to interview. So yeah, sorry, I probably shouldn't have even made any suggestions at all. But Jay Jackson seems like the kind of actor who could make for a really cool interview, maybe?
