So this has nothing to do with the folks running the site, but considering it happens over there I thought it kinda fits in on this thread. Now, knowing that one of the community standards here is to not talk about others (with the exception of Fatman) I'm going to be very vague, and talk more about my response than the person. But if it's too obvious then feel free to let me know and I'll edit or delete. There's an individual who talks about having an imaginary...shall we say friend. Everytime they start up, it makes me feel really sad and lonely for some reason. I mean I guess if it works for you who am I to judge, but it bums me out. On the other hand occasionally other commenters will make joking comments about it, and I sometimes want to upvote and laugh and other times feel like this person has shared something that for whatever reason makes sense to them and other people are taunting them with it. Which just bums me out again. Am I the only one dealing with this everytime this comes up either sincerely or as a joke? Is it actually just a bit or an old joke that I'm not aware of the origins of? Can we get someone a pet or paperwork on how to adopt? I think it's just a bit. He's certainly aware that it's absurd; enough people have pointed it out to him, and he plays along.

Ok, I sometimes am overly sensitive to people being mocked, especially if there's some hint of dysfunction being mocked along with it. Thanks for putting my mind at ease. I don't doubt that his issues are real, but the imaginary daughter seems far more of a performance than the plethora of others.

Not reviewing Season 2 of Fortitude.

Not reviewing Season 2 of Fortitude. This has yet to air in the US or obtain a US broadcast partner! (The network that aired it here went out of business after helping fund S2. All of their other programs have found homes, but Fortitude hasn't yet. I suspect it will turn up on Hulu eventually.)

Apologies for the topic hijack, but I was wondering something the other day that I thought you might have an answer to. Though it could be a Disqus thing and maybe they don't share their methods with people outside of their organization. Anyway, when an obvious spam poster, i.e. "I made 94,000 dollars last week working for Google! I drive a Land Rover! You have to click this link!" is flagged, what's the process for getting that profile deleted? I notice when I go to flag them, they always have about 150 comments give or take, which I assume are all identical but hard to say since 100% of the time they are private profiles. Assuming they've been flagged at least a few times already I'm surprised they have so many comments. Do they only delete profiles a set time (like once a day) or is it ongoing? Does a certain number of flaggings have to happen before someone reviews it? Is there an actual person or is there any automation involved? Also has anyone ever considered making someone who signs up for a private account undergo a little more scrutiny before they are unleashed on the legit commenters? First world problems and all that, but the spam bots annoy the hell out of me, because I know their goal is to fool someone into giving up money to them, and in principle I don't like such people.

It was on Amazon Prime before, I hope it shows up there, I desperately want to see it but would rather not manage yet another streaming service. (by before I mean season 1.)

Not enough people are buying through amazon using the AV Club's links. The staff has resorted to other means of generating income.

It seems the Newswire link at the top of Newswires has been lost to another layout modification, which is annoying because after I read the main page I just stay on the Newswire page.
On the other hand, the "most read" section on the right is gone, so it looks like I will hardly ever read a Great Job, Internet! entry again.

There is no way they are paying attention to this little forum, though.

prediction for tomorrow:
1. newswire about Matthew McConnaughey's tone-deaf suggestion that Hollywood try to work with Trump's government for some greater bipartisan goal or some shit, I dunno, anyway it's clearly not something that will ever actually happen
2. the commentariat gets extremely angry about it without considering why they care so much about what Matthew McConnaughey thinks
3. there's at least one comment thread about how they'll never be able to watch him in movies or TV shows again
let me know if that's about right because I'm not going to bother reading it

Can we get someone a pet or paperwork on how to adopt? I don't think the regular commentors are taunting with malice, and I imagine the non-regulars are just amused. At least he acknowledges that it's imaginary, so it's not like he's lost the ability to tell the difference between reality and fantasy. I project a fantasy persona in the comments myself, so I won't judge. If it gets him through the day, more power to him.

That one dude commenting his ass off in the Kite-Surfing Barack post is really quite something. Somewhere in Montana there are plumes of smoke billowing out of a suburban basement as he blows through keyboard after keyboard desperately linking to the Mises Institute.
