You people and your snow! I'm so jealous!!
I checked the ten-day forecast on Saturday night, and Weather Underground was saying that next Sunday we'd have accumulating snow continuing on into Monday. Not huge amounts, but enough for me to get incredibly excited. SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW! Sunday afternoon I said all gleefully to Boomer (who is also a "checking the weather forecasts" junkie), "Did you see what they're saying for next weekend? DID YOU??" And she pulled up Accuweather on her phone and said, "Next weekend? They're saying 50 degrees and rainy."
"YOUR SHITTY WEATHER APP SITS ON A THRONE OF LIES!" I shouted, and furiously opened the Weather Underground app on my phone, "AND I CAN PROVE IT!"
But Weather Underground failed me. The snow is gone. Now they, too, are predicting 50 degrees and rainy.
Everything is misery and woe.
I'm going now to study up on the Accuweather months-out super-extended forecast, to mark in pen on my calendar which days in February it's going to be snowing.

It's gotten pretty fricking cold the last 24 hours - windchill of 2 last night! And we may be getting 4-8 inches of snow Saturday night into Sunday. Sunday is usually my grocery-getting day so I'm gonna make sure Saturday that we at least have ~48 hours of food/milk/bread in case I can't go out...

Everybody I know (except for Mrs David Tennant, apparently) is getting snow! And I'm getting none! The moral of this story is I need to stop becoming friends with people who live in New England, the Midwest, and Canada. BUT WAIT! I just decided, before actually posting my whining, to double-check the weather predictions. I mean, how can there be so much snow everywhere but none here? HOW?? Well, now Weather Underground is saying a MASSIVE snowfall on Monday (and I quote: "~1 in"), then an even MASSIVER one next Wednesday ("1-3 in", with a mark-it-down-in-pen 40% chance). It's gonna be a winter wonderland, baby!

MASSIVE snowfall =/= one inch. That sounds like Dallas forecasters! I may have been editorializing on my report. I dunno, the greater Philadelphia area can be weird about snow. I have very strong memories of school being cancelled on threat of snow once when I was a kid, we were supposed to get like 6 inches by noon ... and then none ever materialized.

I have very strong memories of school being cancelled on threat of snow once when I was a kid, we were supposed to get like 6 inches by noon ... and then none ever materialized. We actually had that happen two years ago! Hugs and I both got pre-emptive snow days and we ended up getting, like, two inches. It was AWESOME. So, yeah, this part of the world is hardly winter-functional, but I like to think we're at least a bit better than Dallas...

I have kept a fire in the wood burning stove for enough days in a row now that it has enough ash built up to keep a nice bed of coals overnight.

Damn, the national forecast looks like a lot of you are really cold.
Feeling very happy to live here. Tomorrow is supposed to be "cold". It will be a chilly 61. Brrrrr! I may have to wear a hoodie in the morning! And closed-toed shoes!
That's right, you owe us, Mother Nature. It was damned hot for a really long time this year.

It's about 23 degrees here now, and it's supposed to get down to around 9 before morning with a wind chill of -15. We had freezing mist for a while, and everything, including the road, is covered in a thin layer of ice. There is almost no traffic, although every once in a while a car will crawl past the house. We have our feast food bought for the holidays, Christmas shopping is pretty much done, I brought in enough wood for several days, and I have a nice cozy fire going. Nice night to hunker in the bunker.

We finally got some winter here! There was a pretty pathetic amount of snow overnight into Saturday, which then turned to rain, so we had a nice inch or so of icy slush greet us on Saturday morning. Of course, it got up to 60 overnight into Sunday, so it didn't last long... (It's very cold apparently today, but I wouldn't know because I'm working from home. )

If I had known it was going to be this cold today I would have brought a jacket, or at least long sleeves, but it was warm enough when we left this morning it didn't seem necessary. But we went out at lunch and it's in the low 50s out there. That's about as cold as it gets at lunchtime here.

Y'all, I turned my head for a second and it is not only snowing, but it is snowing UP thanks to the wind, and the sun is also out. This is wild!
I wouldn't be so worried if this hadn't been such an apocalyptic year so far...

It was like 55 the day after Christmas (and on my brief jaunt to Pittsburgh we went out without a coat that night) and since then it's been mostly 30s to around 40. But tonight the temperature is going to plummet and we're in for single digits to teens the rest of the week.
My car is filthy, too. I feel like I should at least get this coat of salt off before it starts again?

46 and rainy is much more miserable than I was expecting. I mean, I don't know why I didn't realize it would be really cold and wet, but I was still surprised by how awful it was having to trudge all over the grounds of my office building this morning when it turned out the new construction at my wing wasn't done enough for us to have a functioning door.

We are supposed to get 3 or 4 inches of snow over the next 24 hours, with a little wind. Not much, really, but I don't have a call scheduled for tomorrow, so we're going to just settle in. I picked up a few groceries, and brought in a nice supply of firewood, so I think we are all set.

We finally got snow! An itty-bitty, teensy about of it, but hey, any snow is good snow in my book! (I was really hoping for a delayed opening, but alas, just one inch isn't enough to get an extra two hours of sleep.)

(I was really hoping for a delayed opening, but alas, just one inch isn't enough to get an extra two hours of sleep.) Our two local school districts have called a 2-hour early closing. We're supposed to get a storm at like 7 pm. We're not closing early yet though - they are just going to wait to see if the forecast changes.

It's snowing! And there's about 2" on the ground. I didn't stop at the grocery store yesterday after work b/c it was packed with crazy people thinking we'd be snowed in for a week with snow a couple of feet high, so I get to go out today. It's not supposed to get above freezing even during the day until Tuesday or Wednesday so I may have another 3-day weekend.
