Friends! Earlier this week, Tea Rex and I were shamed into watching Alien and Aliens. Aliens we ended up simultaneously watching and liveboxing along with jerm , who had seen the film prior, but decided to join in the fun. A good time was had by most and we decided to repeat the entire thing again this Saturday evening (or Sunday morning depending on where you live in the world) with the classic film, Escape From New York. Others were all like, "That sounds like fun mang, can we watch too?" and we were like, "The more the merrier!" and then got to thinking about making this a semi-regular thing as there are a lot of movies out there that we should have seen, but for whatever reason haven't, and watching movies with friends is generally more fun that watching them alone. For the time being we'll keep discussions in the shoutbox, but we apparently have a xat account available to us should the movie we're watching exist on the youtubes, but that's another matter for another day! Have you somehow made it 27 years without seeing a single Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Did you get diarrhea 20 minutes into the animated feature Ferngully thus forcing you to leave the theater and never see the end of the movie? Do you not know what "Rosebud" is? The Movie Club is for you! If there's a movie you feel like you should have seen and want to watch with the coolest people from all around the globe drop us a line here and we can watch it together. If you want to see what all the fuss is about join us in the box Saturday 8pm EST / 5pm PST for Escape From New York!

I like this idea as I actually have never seen any of the Alien movies, or Jaws or Poltergeist, or the Exorcist, Ferngully or any of the Texas Chain Saw Massacre flicks.
I have however seen not only Escape from NY, but also Escape From LA (the latter in an actual theater with my own money no less!)

For starters, I haven't seen anything directed by (caveats in parentheses): Allen Cameron (Titanic on broadcast TV as a small child, focusing mainly on Kate Winslet) Eastwood (American Sniper on a library computer for a school assignment as I caffeinated/looked at my phone) Fincher (Social Network on FX and 15 minutes of Gone Girl on HBO) Hitchcock Kubrick Scorsese (Wolf of Wall Street on YouTube and freakin' Hugo) Scott (Martian on a projection screen at my college's crappy theater) Spielberg (Lincoln, but c'mon) Tarantino (a third of Django and an eighth of Hateful, YouTube/screener quality)
I have seen Citizen Kane, though!

The only non-Pixar Disney cartoons that I've seen since The Great Mouse Detective are Fantasia 2000 and Wreck-It Ralph. I haven't seen any of the late 80s/early 90s ones or Frozen. No Little Mermaid, no Beauty and the Beast, no Lion King, no Aladdin.

Probably Robocop would be up there.
Also Sansho the Bailiff.

I've never seen any of the Godfather movies. Pretty sure that's #1 on the list of "inexcusable movie blindspots," but there ya go.

There's this Japanese fellow, Kurosawa or something, that I've heard good things about. I guess he ripped off Star Wars or something?

Also, I've never seen a Studio Ghibli movie and don't really have any interest in doing so. What's the reason for your lack of interest, if I might ask? If you have any interest in animation (which very well might be the sticking point, haha), I'd argue they are definitely worth checking out. The biggest lacuna in my cinematic education has got to be Die Hard. I really hope I'm not alone in that.

Also, I've never seen a Studio Ghibli movie and don't really have any interest in doing so. Princess Mononoke is my second favorite film of all time and one I can watch again and again. That said, if anime isn't particularly your thing, it could be a difficult sell. Still, I love any and all opportunities to recommend it.

I know I have a ton if I sat and thought about it long enough. Pulp Fiction is the one that's gotten me yelled at the most here.

I honestly just don't like anime. Everyone always yells "but it's not anime, it's Miyazaki!" at me and I'm still like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've seen way too many movies to find something big I haven't seen, but this still sounds like fun!
Though I will be out with Iffy for this one.

Minnie and I are thinking of going through some of the late studio-era epics. She hasn't seen any of them, I've only seen Spartacus and Exodus.

Escape From New York was fun. Well, not the movie itself, I didn't like the movie. But watching it with @gordonfrohman, Tea Rex, Nudeviking and Djse's witty November moniker was fun. 3/10 stars. I'm up for any future shoutbox movie viewings. I haven't seen any classic movies so I'm good for whatever.

Escape From New York was viewed. Good fun was had by all except for Isaac Hayes and pro-grappler Ox Baker... We marveled at Kurt Russell's biceps and learned all about sewer hands and discovered where Paul Heyman got the idea for ECW.
So now it's time to pick a new movie to view and arrange a viewing time. Among the stuff that others have already suggested above, I personally haven't seen any of the non-Pixar Disney movies that came out between Lion King and whatever the Rapunzel one was called (save for Mulan), Blade Runner, or Easy Rider, but I'm more than willing to watch something I've seen dozens of times if others are like "We wanna watch Robocop!" or "Die Hard, Friday at 9pm EST..."

I've never seen: Lawrence of Arabia Caddyshack The Party Ben Hur Chinatown anything in the LOTR trilogy after the first one Fast Times at Ridgemont High
There's tons more but those just occurred to me. Also (and this likely will be considered an even bigger outrage by some of our fellow AVC clubbers, I haven't watched any of the last several Marvel movies. Basically everything after Iron Man 2, and about 20 minutes of The Avenegers.

If you're having trouble finding a place to watch the movie, I may or may not be able to link you to a nice place that will let you download the movie.

There are plenty of movies I haven't seen, especially American cinema, almost nothing from the Golden Age of Hollywood era because I don't like the style at all and find it impossible to get enthusiastic about those movies.
Also I tried watching ET, The Godfather and some of the Indiana Jones movies and fell asleep. I managed to watch Jaws but I was bored out of my mind and don't remember a thing from it. Blasphemy I know. Maybe I'll give them another shot sometime.
