Late to the hat discussion but I'm a fan of the paperboy style hats. I have a couple right now and I've worn that style hat for probably 15+ years. The problem now, is with with my current hair length (shoulder length) and facial hair configuration (a rakish goatee), I keep thinking I look Gallagher. Really at this point I've been avoiding hats. They all kind of look stupid with my long hair. That rain on the glasses is a pain in the ass though, so usually I just suck it up and put on a baseball hat if it's raining. It looks...fine. (Side note: This could be a be a good potential Halloween costume. I do already own a large mallet...)

I vote yes to the shoe dress combo. Turns out, my ankle was bothering me enough that I ended up borrowing totally flat shoes from my mom, because I wasn't sure it could handle two+ hours in wedges. But I did take them with me, so I was planning on it!

For a while in college people thought I looked like Noel Gallagher.

I watched All The President's Men last night and I swear I am having to physically restrain myself from going out and buying a crapload of corduroy today.

The Incroyables and Merveilleuses of the Thermidorian Reaction are always serving you up some lewks that are full of panache and aplomb mixed with the interspersing and intersection of grief and wild abandonment at having known those who were beheaded during the Reign of Terror in the previous regime. The fashion often included neoclassical elements combined with a certain French flair that is all their own.

This years long trend of men wearing shoes without socks continues unabated. Loafers, tennis shoes, god-damned stiff leather oxfords that gouge a trench in the skin of your heal with every steps. Why are men still doing this? Were we concerned that our shoes didn't smell bad enough? Were we jealous that only women got to complain that their poor, battered feet couldn't walk another squishy step in their sweaty, bloody shoes? I demand action now! I demand Calvin Klein and Tom Ford stand up, take off their shoes, and put on some damn socks.

chalkdevil 😈 those sock council creeps got to you too, huh? I did not buy any corduroy (yet......) but I did buy a beautiful new sport coat off of eBay. It gets here Saturday and I am stoked. It's my first Hickey Freeman! A close-up of that sexy, sexy birds-eye fabric, woven out of silk, linen, and wool:

I own this dress: www.shopdisney.com/minnie-mouse-sweetheart-dress-for-women-1448840It is absolutely adorable and I love the styling. I wore it on our cruise with peep-toe black and tan heels, and it was cute, but they aren't the most comfy shoes. So I'm wondering if anyone has ideas for fun flats I could wear with it. White? (Maybe a bad idea, easy to stain) Red? Yellow? Specifics? Nothing too $$.

The only problem with yellow flats (which I would otherwise totally go for) is that I would never wear them with anything else, ever. But if they were inexpensive enough, that might not matter.

If you don't care for quality, you may want to check Five and below or Old Navy for yellow or gold flats, or DSW.

Or just go full-on saddleshoes

I don't have an event to wear it to until August, so I have some time.

I wholeheartedly endorse yellow flats, particularly die-cut flats for $30 (with shoes, you get what you pay for; I'd never pay less than $30 for shoes for fear of cutting up my feets). You can wear yellow flats to dress up any combination of neutrals. For example: white top with khaki or olive green pants, black & white ensembles, or a simple navy dress. The cutouts also provide much-needed ventilation in the summer, while maintaining a higher level of decorum and practicality than with sandals or flip flops.

I mean, my wedding ballet flats were like $15 at Payless although that was 11 years ago. But your feedback is appreciated.

Oooooo those are cute! I do tend to like a lot of their shoes, but I can't buy any because I need all kinds of support and those shoes never look like they have any

But I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for something similar. ( moimoi, I just don't wear much yellow or tones that would go well with it - I tend toward jewel tones, blues, purples, maroon/burgundy, gray, etc. but perhaps with navy...)

Mr. Greene's October Surprise, That is Mr Rupert Everett. His natural looks have been somewhat distorted by the plastic surgery (and possibly other procedures), which is probably why you didn't recognise him.

The Happy Prince, a film about Oscar Wilde's last days, he wrote and directed it, he said it took him over a decade to get it made, and that he's a notorious flake (as am I!), so this is the longest he's ever stuck with anything and also seen it through! I wish he'd never had the surgery, he would look so rugged and distinguished if he'd managed to stay away from it, more to the point, he'd look like himself! I think this was him just after (I'm not sure if he'd had anything done prior, nothing major at least), you can see there's no reversing it, such a shame, like a mask. That quote from the doctor is absurd, obviously:

Mr. Greene's October Surprise , speaking of men and plastic surgery, Steve Martin had a facelift years ago, straight after which he looked like a wax figure, but thankfully it relaxed overtime. It's unfortunate we'll never know him without 'the mask', he would have looked handsome, but at least he does look fine now - Rupert Everett isn't as fortunate, I don't know what it is exactly - maybe his face shape and bone structure make it harder to get away with.

Rupert Everett. What happened there? The man was a Greek God come to life.

Dear Couture: I can't stay mad at you.
All silliness aside, I would absolutely wear this dress (minus the mask) if the neckline were lower, and if it didn't cost a year's rent, presumably. It looks comfortable enough to sleep in! Generally, that's how I choose my clothing.
