Time to start some smack talk. Gotta saying getting a bit excited at the idea of ruining ganews 's team's season! Woooooo go cocks! I have already scheduled to go to a dinner party at 7 that day. I could have done a different time or day; that's just how unconcerned I am. ....barking is dumb

this is all very good.
Meanwhile, all of the local people covering ISU seem really confident about us winning @west Virginia tomorrow, thus I'm convinced that this is the weekend the whole thing turns back into a pumpkin.

Here's my definitive ranking of the best college rivalry names:
10. Brawl of the Wild (Montana/Montana State) 9. 100 Miles of Hate (Middle Tennessee/Western Kentucky) 8. Iron Bowl (Alabama/Auburn) 7. Seafaring Scuffle (SUNY Maritime/Merchant Marine) 6. Border War (Kansas/Missouri) 5. Holy War (BYU/Utah) 4. The Big Game (Stanford/Cal) 3. Battle for the Brice-Cowell Musket (Maine/New Hampshire) 2. Bedlam (Oklahoma/Oklahoma State) 1. Clean, Old Fashioned Hate (Georgia/Georgia Tech)
Dishonorable mentions for the worst rivalry names:
- Civil ConFLiCT (UCF/Connecticut): Terrible name for a non-existent rivalry
- Third Saturday in October (Alabama/Tennessee): Would be on the Best Name list if they actually back their shit up and played it on that date every year.
- tie: South's Oldest Rivalry (North Carolina/Virginia) and Deep South's Oldest Rivalry (Auburn/Georgia): Come on, now.

If you had told me a month ago that yesterday's Florida-Mizzou game would be a blowout, and that the losing team would be playing under an interim coach after a mid-season firing...well, I would have believed you 100%. I just wouldn't have believed you about which team was which.

@patrickbatman
I think Tennessee maybe just shouldn't have football anymore

Halfway through the SEC Championship, this is a very educational game. Everyone should now know what formations are illegal and what offensive interference looks like. Maybe we can get some more calls for Leaping and Sideline Encroachment too.

That Memphis/UCF game was a blast to watch. Pretty sure both defenses were only playing with 10 dudes.

Alabama wasn't even the runner up to the SEC, they couldn't even win their division. The conference championship games are just a penalty for half the teams that are good enough to make it.

That's the reason Kansas (remember when they were good in football?) went to the Orange Bowl in 2007 while Mizzou, who beat them head-to-head and won the fucking division, went to the Cotton Bowl. No, I'm not still bitter.

Georgia fans used to complain when they had Alabama's record, and my thought was always "it's your own fault you lost" - but I guess they were right after all. At least with the playoff no one from a 12-1 team gets left in the cold (good thing for UGA too, because the SEC East really sucked this year). Personally, I don't much care about bowl games or the national championship. If Georgia wins, great. I'm glad the marching band kids get to visit New Orleans or Pasadena. It's ridiculous to view college sports through the lens I use, but they beat their traditional rivals and won the SEC and that's what matters. I wish the SEC hadn't added Missouri and Texas A&M because (since Georgia always plays Auburn in regular season) it means less meetings with Alabama, LSU, and the rest of the SEC West.

I don't know, I think there's a lot more historical precedent for your approach to college football than the modern attitude. Speaking of bowl games though, it is some bullshit that Iowa State's bowl game reward for their best season in at least a decade is a true road game against Memphis.

Oh sure there's historical precedent. But while I complain about recruiting players thousands of miles from the school, or that the marching band should be playing the fight song instead of piped-in Metallica on the stadium speakers, I know intellectually that pretending these are "just" college teams and not pro organizations is ridiculous on its face. It won't be much longer until more time has passed where schools have major monetary TV contracts than college football existed pre-TV.

Nice end to the season Clones. Way to win even with the refs robbing you on that touchdown.

Wow that was an insane Rose Bowl. Now the national championship game is going to be in Atlanta, which is just a bus trip for Georgia and whatever other team ends up playing. Probably going to be Alabama with the way Clemson is looking, which is just disgusting. Oh well.
Thanks to whatever 11-year-old put this on YouTube, the only play I didn't get to see live because my stream froze - the Georgia kicker closing the half with a 55-yard FG to keep UGA within a two-TD game.

Don't go counting your championships just yet, ganews. The last time the championship game was in the home state of one of the participating teams--the 2012 championship at the Superdome, where the Saints of football play--Bama shut out LSU. That said, I'll be cheering for Georgia. SEC East represent!

Yawn. Wake me up when Nick Saban retires.
(that's not fair to this game, which was exciting. But yeah, Bama wins again. Yawn).

Im not even gonna look at the article, because the only right answer is Arizona State. An interesting contender, but one that would have been thrown out because: 1)Not in or adjacent or adjacent to Texas 2) What is the last PAC-12 team to feature a fullback?

One of the authors advocates for TMU, which is a fictionalized, privatized version of Texas State, and since my brother goes to Texas State and is a fan of their athletic teams (poor guy), I'll say that's where he should have ended up.

Im not even gonna look at the article, because the only right answer is Arizona State. Why? ASU barely cares about college football. Team was in a bowl game this year and no one cared. Football here is not treated like it is in Texas. FNL was like some alien society to me. And, as said above, nobody in the Pac-12 uses a FB.
