Why? ASU barely cares about college football. Team was in a bowl game this year and no one cared. Football here is not treated like it is in Texas. FNL was like some alien society to me. And, as said above, nobody in the Pac-12 uses a FB. Arizona State is a party school No it isn't. Don't think you want to get into this argument with me. Princeton Review’s Top 20 Party Schools Of 2018: 1. Tulane University 2. West Virginia University 3. Bucknell University 4. Syracuse University 5. University of Wisconsin-Madison 6. (ranked #9) The only time it ever topped a list was in 2002, and *that* report in Playboy was based on an incident that occurred off campus. A location that was demolished and rebuilt following that. When it appeared in 2013 the University President and local police implemented initiatives to cut down on student drinking. The police now basically raid all surrounding houses and apartments in the first few weeks of the year. The local residents have started to complain about the intense police presence. Edited to add: Frat Row was demolished, all the Frat houses were shut down . The entire university went substance-free 3 years ago, including tobacco and alcohol.
EDITED: Thus concludes the "don't disparage the university I work for" section of the TI (At least not for something that isn't true. If you want to mock it for the President's goofy obsession with "Ranked #1 in Innovation!" go right ahead.)

It's probably a carryover of history that many big football schools frontload the season with pushover games as a way to ease into a new season, but I suppose it's also convenient when players (and coaches) get in trouble during the off season and have to miss a few games.

Well, Iowa's got one of their classic good defenses this year and we didn't have a week 1 game to tune up the offense, so it's not a panic for the Clones but oof. I think everyone somehow underestimated how much Allen Lazard did for our passing game and they're really struggling to get something going beyond handing David Montgomery the ball. Iowa State defense looked good though.

It is kind of bizarre how they managed a road win at an Oklahoma school followed by a top 10 win at home at roughly the same point in consecutive seasons.

Why is Iowa State's victory theme "Sweet Caroline"

Why is Iowa State's victory theme "Sweet Caroline" Random coincidence of what the stadium folk were trying to keep people entertained at the time the team started to actually be competitive. So it associated with the big upset over #2 Oklahoma State, which makes it hard to move on from.

It’s funny how you change over time because unlike 10 years ago when I was obsessed with following the ins and outs of conference moves and what it might mean for my beloved ISU, this time I just can’t manage to give much of a shit. And this seems much more likely to be some sort of death spiral for the current version of the sport.

I was going to shoot you a message to make sure your house was still standing or whatnot Explain why your hero Quinn Ewers thought a lateral checkdown to a receiver currently in the process of being tackled was a good idea.

I was going to shoot you a message to make sure your house was still standing or whatnot Explain why your hero Quinn Ewers thought a lateral checkdown to a receiver currently in the process of being tackled was a good idea. I actually missed the ISU-Texas game because we had family plans Saturday, so literally all I know is that we lost and everyone is pissed about targeting calls (which is the case after roughly 95% of college football games). In general though, the Cyclone offense has been god awful all year. Some of that is to be expected when you're breaking in a new starting QB and also graduated two pro-level TEs and possibly the best rookie RB in the NFL right now, but that doesn't explain why our OC consistently sees 3rd and long and says "the thing to call here is a shallow crossing route for our best receiver that puts him 3 yards short of the marker".

After I happened to see TCU beating Michigan in the playoff I said, "now UGA and Ohio State get to see who will be the bad guy". I couldn't even watch most of the championship game because Georgia was dominating TCU so thoroughly. I just felt bad for them. And so Georgia put the third-stringers in, but obviously those guys are excited to play too.
Even though I've quit college football, I was glad to watch the playoffs last year and this year to participate in the Moment with my family and and everyone I grew up with. I hope Georgia fans don't become entitled assholes in general. I'm glad I've divorced myself from Fandom.
