Yeah....I still haven't really processed all this I don't think. Me and Kirk from AVC used to have simultaneous conversations with Dom and Harriet on Twitter every single morning. Like, for years. I spent those same years talking to both of them in DMs, Dom wanting to kill himself and Harriet upset because of that and wanting to divorce him. I gave that fucking creep my phone number and told him to call me any time. I felt a MASSIVE amount of guilt when he died because I had kind of reached a cutoff point with his emotional vampirism like 6 months before that and mostly stopped talking to him. The one time I visited NYC a few years ago, I tried to plan a meetup with them but of course it didn't happen. Kirk tried to get them to meet him a few times. Speaking objectively, though, I'll say, if he would have put all of this energy into a book or something, he'd probably be a pretty great writer. Who's to say this isn't all part of a book? Or he's Morgan Spurlock making an even dumber than usual documentary about us.

Good Christ, he killed off a lady friend before he killed himself??
I know it's been professed all over this thread, but where can I get this much time while still having living money? Do i...do I have to go the sugar daddy route?
I assume yes.

Was Ellie the same Ellie who used to post here? EllieShe was MPDGish, I don't think anyone actually met her, and had some drama. * Law and Order sound*

So I know I haven't been posting over here in the New World much, but I caught wind of this and as a licensed mental health counselor in real life let me just say HOLY SHIT. I have never encountered anything this elaborate even in my readings, damn. I have only the most tangential connection to this in I remember Scrawler personal messaging me in distress because she was worried he might kill himself based on some posts and wanted my advice on how to help. That was a good year or more before the actual "suicide." I wonder what else we're going to keep finding. I'd forgotten about Scrawler messaging you ...soooo much attention seeking (um, on Buzz's part, of course). I really feel like this warrants a "This American Life" episode or a buzzfeed piece or something.

So, I mainly joined so I could share some of the worst examples of E Buzz / "Dom's" emotional vampirism I've seen from Facebook. (I'm working on the basis that E Buzz is the real person, whose real name may or may not be "Dom" (I'm pretty sure E Buzz Miller isn't his real name, though I'm not ruling anything our at this point) and that "Harriet" and "Ellie" ("Harriet's" predecessor) are the fakes). ... Then, in November 2012, "Ellie" "died in a car crash". Holy shit. ELLIE WAS FAKE?!?! Probably my main AV Club memory is marathoning Breaking Bad and reading through all the comments on all the Breaking Bad reviews. I only caught up in time for the last half-season, during which I commented there too, but for the first 5, I read Donna's reviews and the comments religiously, during my marathon. Ellie struck me as awesome and engaging and charming, even when she was wrong, which was fairly often. I always wondered what the hell happened to her. And she fake died too. Wow. Shit. Jeez. Shit. EDIT: Wait this is the same Ellie who also posted here on TI. So is this a different Ellie? I'm so confused.

Holy shit, I had no idea how deep this rabbit hole went. There was somebody BEFORE Opera Punk? WTF? Inventing and killing off two fictional lady friends is some deeply messed-up shit. I'm amazed how many layers there are to this screwed-up onion. I'm beginning to even think there was no such thing as this "Star Trek" show. Has anybody looked into that? Sadly, yes. In some detail, in fact.

Ugh, on the Bowie obit are lots of lovely comments from Miss Anthropy, which makes me feel her loss even more acutely than ever and also sparks a white-hot fury in me that Buzz capitalized on a real person's death for cheap sympathy.

So is it okay to punch E Buzz Miller? The story of THIS story is that E. Buzz Miller may in fact be a Nazi.

So apparently the powers that be at TOC have known about this for a couple of months now. I keep hoping a retraction will show up, any thoughts as to why it hasn't? I don't need it for my own enlightenment, I feel like I'm as understanding of this as I will ever be. However, I assume there are still people who have no idea, and thinking about all that outpouring of goodwill based on a pile of lies really irks me. I want to go and reply to every comment on that obit with a link to the google doc, but I don't want to seem like the type of person who gets gleeful over giving people awful news.

I kind of wonder if it was the fact that there were two deaths that got AVC to write up an obit in the first place (obviously there was really only one). Would they have done so if there was only one? Maybe Buzz's lie did lead to Miss' getting a write up at all? Maybe I'm just reaching here.

I'm beginning to even think there was no such thin g as this "Star Trek" show. Has anybody looked into that? Sadly, yes. In some detail, in fact. Unless, the E. Buzz Miller/Opera Punk catfish saga is only the hoax which triggers the uncovering of the larger hoax that is the so-called existence of the supposed storied science fiction franchise known as "Star Trek"? Alternatively, of course, the unmasking of "Star Trek" as a hoax could also just be the illusion of a hoax and a deliberate layer to the E. Buzz/Opera Punk hoax proper, that is to say, that "Dom's" plan all along was for people to find out that E. Buzz Miller and Opera Punk were fake so that he could trick us all into believing "Star Trek" to be a hoax, or, furthermore, the real hoax could be to make it so that we can never be certain whether the real hoax is that E Buzz Miller/Opera Punk don't exist and neither does "Star Trek" or that E. Buzz Miller and Opera Punk don't exist which is all in the service of a meta-hoax which falsely contends that "Star Trek" is a hoax. Or.... Think carefully now, Prole, about the real-life people you know in the real physical world. Do they all have strange, unrealistic-sounding names like Edwin Hackelthwaite-Thorpe, Sylvia Gangrene, Tertius Eigenvector, Mugwump McAlberts, Agamemna Lockspade, and Aloysius "Ostrogoth" Vulgate? And is every conversation you have with a real-life person in the real physical world some hyper-literary conversation about fucking math or the goddamn Wakefield Mystery Plays or the illusory nature of the control that we believe we possess over our own lives or some bullshit like that? Because if so, you may be the protagonist in an as-yet-unpublished mediocre new Thomas Pynchon novel. Which would make the rest of us not just fictional characters as well, but at best tertiary (and probably more like quaternary proceeding on down to perhaps even duodenary) fictional characters in a shitty latter-day book by a guy whose last noteworthy contribution to society was voicing himself in a shitty latter-day episode of The Simpsons over a decade ago.

I wonder if they're trying to get to the bottom of it before going public. I mean, people are going to want answers (we want answers!) and that could take months of investigation. I would think they're just trying to stay on top of the story, which they should.
