Have any of you had the issue with Kinja where you click "Show More Comments" and instead a lot of the comments disappear, and the screen is brought back to the top of the comments? Then when you scroll down and hit "show more comments" again, a lot of them are just fully gone?

I still don't have the slightest idea how to use Kinja, but at least this tread has showed me that I'm not permanently stuck with one black star. Behold my two blue stars! Behold! You know, I honestly didn't care much about the posting designations, but now *I* want pretty stars. I don't have enough posts to earn the pretty pink ones, so I'm going for the blue. Thanks for the tip! Wait, what do the stars mean? I have one black star. I'd like to know, so I can tell what rank I'll be in the wars to come. I made a burner account. Same name, same avatar. No way am I linking it to my Disqus account, my FB, my Google, my ANYTHING. Kinja seems like it only exists to grab user information, which is why they give the BS random letter passwords (screenshotted on my second attempt through, when apparently I f****d up the first one). I won't give them the satisfaction.
I haven't been tempted to post, but I might ask them to follow me at some point, and I'm starring old timers' better comments.

So claiming Kinja actually went smoothly for me. I clicked the thingy, went to the other thingy, picked Twitter login, then I was commenting. I don't think I'm in this grays thing people are talking about either.
I was only commenting like every couple of months anyway on AVC so my activity will probably just be dropping off even more, but I'm sure all of you who are having problems with getting on Kinja will be very glad to know that I personally am having none.

I created a 'burner' gmail account, akamoimoi@gmail.com for all my AVC-related correspondence. No trouble logging in to Kinja with that, though I can't seem find anything worth commenting upon. Perhaps when/if the bugs are worked out, I can claim my legacy account or link it to this one. I've said my goodbyes, though, so I'm pretty indifferent to AVC in its current incarnation.

I'm just bummed we'll never know the true identity of Elegant Victorian Lady. *faints dead away*Whoever s/he was, EVL's comment on my breakup (as related in Savage Love in late October 2015) was breathtakingly sweet (she even forgot to faint!). I owe her one, as that really meant a lot, and goes to show how important the community was to so many people (certainly me). |

I can't quite let go of AVC. Signed up for legacy account, it immediately worked, but then I couldn't sign in, complained, got a support email back saying to sign up with a social account and they'll link later. Signed up using FB, looked desperately for a place to contribute (Liam Neeson article, whatever). We'll see - it's an awful lot of work.

I have to admit the ability to follow authors on Kinja seems useful—the AVC’s such a Content! flood that I mainly stopped going there because the handful of things I was interested in got buried so quickly that even avclub.com/recent proved a bit useless. Still mulling on whether to get a new account, even if I’d rarely comment.

I've made a few Kinja comments now that have gotten multiple replies, and the importance of nesting is extra obvious. I can get 5 replies to one comment, but if I follow the notification from one of them and it's impossible to see the others. Just having nesting really would make a huge difference.

I somehow got set up for commenting but I just can't stand the look of the site. Who decided that a sans serif font would be attractive? And what's up with all the white space? I don't know. I hate the idea of not commenting over there any more, but I just don't know.

I commented on the Tobe Hooper obit, but didn't bother with the PCW (I sometimes skipped it before the events of last Wednesday, in fairness). I expect my commenting will just gradually get whittled down to nothing. It's a shame, and I'm already missing it, but I suppose I could do with the time back.
