Just looked in on the Reasonable Discussions thread, almost a couple of hours after it went up (presuming it still goes up at the same time). 80 or so comments, most of them mournful or sullenly angry. Even Dikachu is packing his bags, it seems.

Even Dikachu is packing his bags, it seems. It makes me sad, and I wonder how the writers feel. I posted over at AVCAD that it is my considered opinion that the writers actually appreciated the commentariat, even if the Powers That Be didn't really. They're probably still getting the pageviews, probably even more that all of the other Kinja sites cross-promote, but I think they meant it when they said the commenters "mak{e} our site’s community vibrant, intelligent, and fun!". Maybe I'm just getting less cynical in my rapidly approaching old age, but I think that even though we were only between 1 and 5% of the total views, the AVC staff liked that we had a community built around their weird little pop culture corner of the Internets. |
