I am so sorry you have enough stalkers that we can only narrow it down to a range. It honestly is just an annoyance now: it doesn't upset me, I just really don't get it. seems like a lot of effort. I won't engage the troll, but I'm sorta tempted to ask it something only you would know/get and see how that goes

But now, with Kinja, we'd just convince like two people.

Also they are posting on all Kinja sites, not just AVClub, with that name.

I was going to call out a Scrawler imposter, too, but it looks like nope, that's actually the real Scrawler, who can't get her account merged under her old name. Kinja!

Could those of you making use of Kinja do me a solid and report or flag this person? They're impersonating me. kinja.com/mslangdonalgerGood grief. This sort of thing makes me feel perfectly justified in leaving the AV Club for dead. I haven't been entertained by internet edginess since 2002.

I looked up my name on kinja, and they have not posted anything or followed anybody, so I figure it's either me, and I just can't figure out how to make the damn thing work, or it's a really unambitious troll.

Holy crap, I didn't even know AVC had changed/was changing until about an hour ago when I went over there to check out new South Park reviews. I was disoriented and afraid. So does this mean all the goodness from the former comment system is completely done & dusted?
I know I could probably find out by reading this section more in-depth, but I thought I'd liven things up by portraying the blithering ass who comes stumbling in late to the funeral, acts shocked to find out someone died, demands to know how & when it all happened, and has a huge public breakdown even though aforementioned ass hasn't even seen the deceased in almost an entire year. Y'know, everyone's favorite character to punch in the face.
I went ahead and registered my screen name with Kinja, just in case. There's only a 0.00000006% chance anyone nefarious would remember me or bother to steal my screen name, but god DAMN IT, I'm not willing to take that 0.00000006% chance.

The comments migrated over, but the upvotes died on the way back to their home planet. The community is on life-support. Ah, of course. They retained all the value added to their piss-poor articles by keeping the entertaining/thoughtful commentary provided for free by the community, but removed the one thing which rewarded those contributors with a sense of camaraderie and small-but-gratifying achievement. Of course, of course. I will never understand why they chose to screw over their loyal community, beginning with their first big redesign, but whatever. Yay for business folk and their big ideas. Have they gone bankrupt yet, or are they still falling slowly toward inevitable financial decrepitude?

Have they gone bankrupt yet, or are they still falling slowly toward inevitable financial decrepitude? They were bought out by Univision a little while back. Univision owns Kinja. Unfortunately, this was inevitable. I would bet on the AV Club being shuttered at some point in the next two years. When every third article is an ad and only one out of five of the real articles are worth reading, they're not going to get an awful lot of clicks from newcomers, let alone disgruntled readers/commentators from the days gone by. It's done.

The video of "Who Would You Not Want to Be Roasted By?" freezes image on Julia Sweeney. I tried watching three times but after the third disembodied male voice saying "Probably Olivia" I gave up.

You know it just occurred to me that someone at the AVClub really pressed for account portability as part of the Kinja move, and alot of hours were probably spent negotiating that, then they finally flip that switch and like a fraction of a fraction of commentors did it, given the low double-digit comment count under articles these days.

I wonder how much is "commenters didn't switch their accounts at all", how much is "commenters switched but never commented", and how much is "commenters switched, but Kinja still sucks for commenting".

Plus there's a negative reinforcement aspect of having seen so many empty comment sections that posting in a new article feels like it'll probably be pointless.

The site is machiavellian in how it makes you work just to find a review or longform article, nobody likes the layout and Kinja’s comments are a graveyard when they don’t have vandals spraypainting tombstones with vaguely attempted swastikas.
AVC might live and their writers still employed but the heart has left, it’s just a shell of past glories.

The MrsLangdonAlger imposter account is still active and now harassing people who have called them out as fake. So clearly Kinja doesn't have a mechanism for/care to ban posters for harassment.

He kept replying to me and I kept dismissing him and he stopped pretty quickly. That's what I'd advise anyone else do under the circumstances.

MLA's stalker is on the NCIS article - do not respond to him, though, especially if you're out of the greys, because it only helps him.

As of right now, "her" comment is marked as Pending, so hopefully someone finally noticed and is doing something about it? Maybe? Probably not. Fuck Kinja/Univision!

No, the pending just means the commenter isn't out of the greys, which is going to be the case for any new account.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with Marah Eakin, maybe via Twitter? She did MLA's Expert Witness; she might be more amenable to verifying this and being able to do something about it and she is still with the AVC.

Very depressing to be reminded that their best defence against trolling and abuse is the greys.

I finally got Laura Browning's attention, and linked her to both accounts, hopefully she'll take them down.
