So, in addition to not moving on setting up a dummy social account to link to my merged Kinja account, I'm unable to clear the infinite notifications tab up top. I click on it, it loads, and nothing happens. So even if I did manage to start posting again I can't clear my notifications from the merge enough to see new notifications.
And, yeah, it's just not appealing. I feel bad for the posters that are still there that I like and want to stay connected with (poor Miller was ranting about how bad it is in the Kinja update article the other day). But setting up a dummy social account, then working with helpdesk to clear my notifications, then finally being able to post, only to no doubt be swarmed by trolls given what I'm seeing in comments these days. There's some threads where it's 3:1 trolls to legit posts anymore, and apparently no way to block or report them.

Isn’t the fact that in all this time they’ve only come up with a rudimentary flagging system, no muting/blocking method and “the greys” somewhat interesting?
Univision brought a goose assuming it’d lay a golden egg, instead it just got a normal goose and geese are bastards. Just this one is male and very white feather power if you understand me.

Yesterday, I found myself prowling for someplace to go and read and comment about pop-culture...almost as if there used to be a place worth going to for that...and it disappeared. It was almost as if for a moment, my subconscious remembered the AV Club, but my conscious mind didn't know what to make of the hollow space in my routine.
There is still some good reading to do once one sifts through all the ad-posts, but a really really big part of what is enjoyable about reading articles online is commenting on them. My eyes light up whenever something I'm reading has Disqus-enabled comments below it, even if there aren't many and I doubt that I'll have a meaningful conversation with anyone. Once, there was a place...

I may, or may not, have linked my legacy account to Kinja. If I try to reply, my AVC avatar now appears, but when I try to actually post a reply, it goes around and around asking for my username and display name, then tells me somebody already has it.
I know somebody already has it, I already have it. I made a burner account, but deliberately used a different username, so that shouldn't be the problem.
