Downvotes just mean the exact type of people you want to disapprove of you disapprove of you.

What if everyone disapproves and you didn't want that?

Also, whatever change that Nu-Disqus made last week broke the Tampermonkey script I had been using that automatically loaded all the comments. FYI, I updated the script to fix this after Disqus change: tolerabilityindex.freeforums.net/post/34684/threadMight be nice if that thread didn't get buried in the Archive Board...

What if everyone disapproves and you didn't want that? Then a one-liner poking fun at the type of inane downvoting dorks that get under people's skins because the only reason those inane dorks downvote is because they think it might get under better people's skins probably isn't going to fix whatever self-esteem issues you have going on?

It probably wouldn't but self-esteem is overrated and I got those downvoting dorks back. Gotta take your victories where you can when those better people are around, even if all you've got are pithy one-liners.

I think "What celebrity death will make you cry?" should be added to the list. It's a sick joke among the staff that was clearly posted online accidentally.

So I'm having this weird issue. I'm currently watching Hannibal on Amazon, and after an episode sometimes I like to go back to the AVC and read the reviews. Anyway, when I do, I always get an auto-play video ad as soon as I load up the page. It doesn't happen if I look up a previous episode, or an old episode of a different show, or a new article, but only when I look at the review of the episode that I just watched. Am I crazy? Or has interweb gotten so sophisticated that Amazon is sharing what I watch with online advertisers? I would really like to know if anyone else has noticed this, or maybe could test it out - man I just hate the feeling that I'm an unwilling part of a marketing scheme. Oh, and it only happens on my phone, not on a tablet or computer.

Right, so I watch an episode of Hannibal on my PS3 thru Amazon, which is associated with a hotmail account, then I go to the AVC to read the review on my phone, which is linked to a gmail account, and the adbots are waiting for me. I'll never get used to it - makes me want to live in a cave. But our kids are growing up in a new world with no expectation of privacy. Maybe it doesn't matter. I still don't like it.

I think a malicious virus pop up window disguised as a Windows antivirus product appears whenever I go to the AVC on my tablet.

I think a malicious virus pop up window disguised as a Windows antivirus product appears whenever I go to the AVC on my tablet. Yeah, I get that sometimes when I'm visiting the site on my phone. It's obviously not official because there are misspellings and odd grammar on the pop up. The annoying part is that it completely covers everything and you can't read the site at all.

Wait, I thought you meant this forum. AVC is okay for me, the virus popups are occasionally when I visit here.

I can't get comments to 'load more' at all on it. It's really gone to hell.

AV Club consistently crashes the browser on my phone. Even when I can get it to load, the pictures are either missing or in the wrong place, and the comments don't load at all. I give up!

I've decided that I would forgo getting back comment pagination, front page notifications, your name highlighted in comments, and the very existence of the downvote button, just to have Disqus stop crosslinking to other sites.

It's not technical difficulties, but I really, really hate them moving the Tell Us About Your Pop Culture Weekend thread to Sundays. I didn't even bother reading it today since everything on there is a day old and you don't get any conversation going to replies or posts you make.

Drives me nuts too, I imagine they figured they don't have enough content on Sundays but between the timing and the fact that I spend my Sundays on The Simpsons Classic, it means I never pay attention to the Pop Culture Weekend posts.

Oh fuck them all to death... getting the You Must Activate Your Account login error when trying to go to the TI. What a bag of septic arseholes Disqus are - and fuck them twice at AVC for pandering to their shit to get sponsorship for their oh-so-fucking-witty videos at their afterparty. Truly, fuck them all.
EDIT: Working now. My point however still stands.

Can I still pretend to be a Gilded Age libertine whose life story is based on "Pinkerton" by Weezer and hails from a Gilded Age America that includes Bill & Ted as lawyers of some renowned? If not I think I'll stick with the current AV Club for the weird self amusement that shtick provides me.

I'd not come across this before: it's a doozy.
Went to AVC reply link on my newly-rooted Android phone. Autoplay Onion video starts. Rather than piss about trying to click pause on a tiny screen-within-a-screen, I hit Mute to kill the sound...
...and I can still hear it. Ads that play on a rooted, muted phone. That's fucking insidious. And that's why we AdBlock.

The ads were just terrible, odd bits of audio blaring for a second even when I paused or muted the video. It's a shame too because I really wanted to support the site. I try to remember to pause the AdBlock when I go to watch a video and let the ad play while I'm grabbing something from the fridge. I white listed this site and a few others, but life really is much better with AdBlock.

It looks like Disqus has broken the Disqus Click Automate script again. (And the original thread discussing the script here seems to be gone.) If it turns out to be possible to fix it again, I'd be forever grateful. If not, then thanks for making it work as long as it did. (I honestly don't know how anyone uses Disqus without it.)

Looks like the forum isn't allowing attachments, so here, give this one a whirl: drive.google.com/file/d/0B7HMI-Y-J4YRcFpkUXAzZV9oTmc/view?usp=sharingI also noticed the "official" 0.2 version stopped working a few days ago, but my tweaked version of the original still worked. A word of warning: in Firefox, it seems like either Greasemonkey itself or these Disqus scripts cause a memory leak which only restarting FF will solve. So I generally only activate the script as-needed.

(These last couple days without it have only made it clear how much I depend on it. :-) ) Thanks also for the heads-up re the memory leak. I'd noticed it, but attributed it to Firefox itself (which at least used to be notorious for those) rather than the script.

So suddenly I can see ads again on AVClub despite having updated Adblock Plus installed. Am I missing something?

So suddenly I can see ads again on AVClub despite having updated Adblock Plus installed. Am I missing something? Actual full-blown sidebar ads or the 'Sponsored Link' ads at the bottom of the articles? because I've been noticing the latter last couple of days, but none of the former.
