You may or may not remember or know this, but The Old Country named Baby Snape. I mean her real name. I put the question out there back when TIF was just the TI, and our own Judkins Moaner had a suggestion so good we used it. Well, #2 is coming down the pike, and while we preferred another girl and had a fabulous name all picked out, turns out, it's a boy. And we've got nothing. So let me have it. Boy names. What do you got?

That's not what we had picked out, but I would totally name my daughter Quistis. In fact, I fucking love the name Quistis.

I maintain this can't be answered till we know your surname. Failing that, Sonny is always good.

Back before I realized I didn't want kids, I always liked Robert for a son. With William, Richard, and Edward as backups. I guess I like British kings for names.
If you want something more affected, as the young parents seem to, there's Gideon and Reuben.
Or you could always go with Stormageddon.

Both times I found coming up with potential girl names I like WAY easier than coming up with boy names I liked. That being said, I had real prolonged dalliances with "Xavier" and "Sycamore" for Owl Jr. before settling on a more normal name I like for him (and then, annoyingly, that name fucking BLEW UP for boy's his age).

Well, Jimmy, obviously.
According to my working with children part-time, no Logan, Morgan, Jace, Brooklyn, nor anyone named in Harry Potter, if you want a non-common name. The HP names aren't there yet, but they will be.
I've always liked Sullivan, but I like surnames as first names. And I kinda like Eli, for no reason I can put my finger on.

Depends on your last name. If your last name starts with a hard consonant, choose a name that ends on a vowel or liquid sound like "Billy". If your last name starts with a vowel, choose a name that ends on a consonant like "Bill".

This just gets stupider and stupider the longer I look at it. I'd be hard-pressed to pick the stupidest name here. Maybe Cannon. No wait - Krz. KRZ?!

It really is a goldmine, I was thrilled to have an opportunity to post it. I like how while they figure out new ways to spell Aiden and Braden, they have totally run out of configurations for Caden with a C and moved STRAIGHT to the K's with reckless abandon.

The name Alphonse is a German baby name. In German the meaning of the name Alphonse is: Ready for a fight. Common in Spain since the 7th century. Famous bearer: Gangster Al Capone's name was Alphonse. Alfonso - Alfonso Ribeiro, creator of The Carlton.Carlton! Słonecznik, Polish word for Sunflower. Slone for short, maybe? I second Ben Grimm's suggestions, especially William, I love the name Bill. I'd like to add Alfred (Alfie) and George to potential English kings' names "Georgie Porgie pudding and pie, kissed the girls and made them cry, when the boys came out to play, Georgie Porgie ran away".Along with Reuben ( he'll have his own theme tune!), I'll throw in Amos, Ezra (helper), and Gad (good luck), because why not. Jacob, I've never met a Jake who wasn't lovely. Artyom, Artem(preferred) - Origin: Ancient Greek name Artemios (Greek: Αρτέμιος), the name of the saint Artemius, derived from the name of the goddess Artemis. Mansur (Arabic: منصور, Manṣūr; also spelled Måns, Munsor, Mansoor, Manser, Mansour, Monsour, Mansyur or Mensur) is a male Arabic name that means "the one who is victorious", from the Arabic root naṣr (نصر), meaning "victory." - must be Manny for short. Jonathan I don't care what anyone says you can't go wrong with Jonathan/Johnny/John, classic name, exudes decency - Ignore the Johnny's who don't. aaannnd the male character names from the show Baccano! may inspire you: Ladd Firo Jacuzzi Nicholas Gustav Elean Luck Maiza Keith Dallas Szilard Elmer Berga Claire Victor Huey Issac Gerd
ok, peace out!

There's basically zero chance the parents are Kabbalists, right? Anyway, my family's naming strategy is to use uncommon but not overly unusual names. That way there aren't 3 other people with the same name in a class of 25, but also the kid doesn't have to spend a lifetime spelling their name over the phone. How about Hector? I think it's unusual for anglophones but not too out there. Can it pair with the last name? Do you think your kid can grow up to pull it off? Look at yourself and at your male relatives, including the ones on your wife's side. Do you look like Hectors?
