I'm didn't record what I wrote the second time, but on the first round my words were "lizard granite chess knob oxygen solution raise". And I think there were some more abstract concept nouns at the end, but I guess they only take the first seven before you can start deliberately getting abstract.

Furthest: schooner - entropy (105)
Shortest: schooner - haberdasher (78??)
I guess because they're both found in old timey books?

I just saw this vaguely ominous sign in a dairy Queen: "This cake freezer is under surveillance, violators will be prosecuted". I'm pretty sure that's a backstory I don't want to know.

I've tried a bunch since then and never topped that combo.... I usually do all my cleaning chores on Thursdays, but we're having a party tomorrow (Saturday) so I wanted to try and wait until then so the clean would be as fresh as possible.
Couldn't do it. Cleaned first thing this morning.

Games Magazine's "Solitaire Hangman" feature is now called "Boxing Match". According to the instructions, "The object of this solitaire challenge is to guess a word before making six incorrect guesses, as in a familiar childhood game."
...Is this cancel culture?

Ah, my least favorite midside spider has made it to the US. Wonderful. I hate these things. They are pretty harmless if left alone though. They're just big, rather flashy, and are happy to spin their webs like right at human eye level. You actually get used to them. There are larger spiders here that are higher on my concern list. Just giant spiders over here.

I saw a jumping spider the other day and it actually made me smile. It's just the big spiders here that I have a problem with. Coming into my neighborhood to eat the other giant bugs. Actually, considering the giant bugs here I have no problem with the big spiders either. They're higher on my list then the goddamn cicadas and but lower then the mantises blocking my door and the stag beetles that occasionally show up to get captured as temporary pets.

Are you into beetle fighting btw? I think stag beetle fights are the coolest thing.

I know! I was like "I want to live somewhere with cicadas, mantises, and stag beetles!". Well, technically, we do have cicadas, but they're boring yearly cicadas. We don't get anything as cool as Brood X cicadas. Also, my hearing is so crap that I can't actually hear them - their chirps are outside my high range.

I just looked them up. Wow, the female has a very flashy color pattern. According to the info I read there is zero chance these spiders will end up here. Apparently they need humidity.
I've only ever seen one spider that I thought was truly crazy looking here. Not tarantulas, of course, we have a ton of those. But this was a gigantic spider I saw hanging out in mid-October outside the door of my neighbor one year. Looked to be a Giant Crab Spider. When I first saw it I honestly thought it was part of their Halloween decorations, it was that big. I saw this spider every night in roughly the same spot for about a week, and then it disappeared.
I love having spiders around to help catch all the insects I don't want inside my home. However, holy moly, I would NEVER want a spider that big to get inside my home.

You know, I've never actually seen or even heard of a beetle fight. They're just really fun to observe for a couple of days and release. Most of the 100-yen shops here sell little bug cages along with the accessories like feed for pretty cheap so assuming you find one then its a pretty small investment to keep one for a little bit. You can buy some really big ones in pet shops but again I think those are just for observing and not fighting. Who knows though, maybe I am just not cool enough to get invited to beetle fight club.
