I spent a week worrying that I wouldn't be able to vote.
I'm taking a 6-week screenwriting course on Tuesday nights, and I go there after work. My polling place is near my apartment, my job is downtown, and my class is elsewhere. I wouldn't have time to come back home from work, vote, and then go to class.
I use a boombox as my morning alarm. It's set to NPR. So when I woke up on Tuesday, I heard the announcer mention that polling places would be open from 7AM to 8PM. And I suddenly realized that I could vote BEFORE work. Whew! Thank you NPR!

Our polling places are open for three weeks before election day. Though if your election day plans snuck up on you in general, I get it.

I want to create a new urban legend that says if you bully someone, and that person yells "won't you be my neighbor" three times, zombie Fred Rogers appears and talks sense to you until you learn empathy and become a better person.
If you don't, he eats your brain.

Appropriate, since Fred Rogers and George Romero were old buddies and collaborators from Pittsburgh TV.

In my favorite alternate universe I have a Thanksgiving tradition. After dinner, I listen to Alice's Restaurant and watch the turkey drop episode of WKRP, and then Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Then I finish the evening by listening to the audiobook of Hunter Thompson reading his best seller "Fear and Loathing on Black Friday".

Based on a recent gathering I attended, I decided that if I were a writer I would find a way to incorporate the phrase, "the sort of American liberals who have a bidet in the guest bathroom".

That's the result I got, as well. Homo floresiensis Remains of one of the most recently discovered early human species, Homo floresiensis (nicknamed ‘Hobbit’), have so far only been found on the Island of Flores, Indonesia

When you're talking about inclines, what does 1 in 5 mean?

When you're talking about inclines, what does 1 in 5 mean? I assume that it means it rises vertically one unit (inches, feet, etc.) for every 5 units it moves horizontally. I think that makes it a 9 degree angle, but I'm too lazy to make sure my assumption there (that a 45 degree angle would be 1 in 1 and you can just divide that by 5) is correct.

I already know this, Homo sapiens, a lot more evolving yet to do I enjoyed the question about how you get around, as I actually do drive a Toyota Corolla.
Also, I'm apparently Homo heidelbergensis, which is appropriate, as I too have "a short and wide body."
