I am immersing myself in the narrative and giving an emotional response to the movie presented, not to knowledge outside the movie. Because feeling things is more enjoyable than cynically dismissing things. So, again, WHAT?!

It isn't cynically dismissing things when the studio regularly promotes their plans for future movies and talks about details going on over the next few years. That is on the fault of the studio for already putting out there that there is gonna be a spider man 2 or guardians 3. Maybe don't reveal what you have in the kitchen and who is cast for the next films for your "grand finale".

It kind of feels like Star Trek II, which I only ever saw in hindsight, already knowing Spock comes back.
It also reminds me of the TNG episode The Best of Both Worlds, except I know in real life they set up that crazy insane ending, took a break for the summer, and wrote their way out of it at the last minute. Here at least they have (or have the appearance of having) a grand plan, so Infinity War pt. 2 won't be as weak as Best of Both Worlds pt. 2, or so one would hope.

Also I cannot express how much I love Peter Dinklage as a giant. Even if it's just his Tyrion accent.

With Star Trek 2 though that was a start to finish story. It was all about Khan. The spock death was meant to be permanent, only after 2 came out did Nimoy want to come back as spock and 3 was built off that. What makes Wrath of Khan a good movie is in part because it can be seen as self contained, you don't need to watch the TOS or TMP to understand Khan, and Spock's death works without seeing 3. Infinity War works only as a part and is much more like an episode of tv. So your best of both worlds is spot on.

Desert Dweller I mean this not as a defense or to damn, just an observation. All of the criticism applies to basically every print comic book crossover ever. I get that. But this isn't print. I think I'm just annoyed by Thanos and the reset-button nature of the story. It makes it all feel shallow. The movie tried really hard to get me to care about Thanos, or just be interested in him, but I'm not. After part 2 we'll probably never hear about him again. Anyway, as I am demonstrating here, I'm not a big comic book movie fan. This movie wasn't made for me.

Some of us donโt know whatโs in the works and for those of us who do Spider-Man 2 could easily be Miles Morales and Guardians of a Galaxy 3 could just Nebula and Iron Man tooling around the galaxy or something like that.

It still isn't just a cynic dismissal though. The studio has put this info out there and have promoted themselves at cons. To be aware of this and having it in your mind when watching the movie doesn't make someone a cynic. Which was my point.

They donโt know anyone is coming back. Steve is totally broke, having watched Bucky die yet again, Rocket has literally no-one, Tonyโs PTSD is now actually gaining sentience, Thorโs getting more traumatized every moment....itโs just a whole pile of everyone being emotionally beat to shit.

The more I think about it, the worse I feel for Nebula. She lost her sister, her "dad" dismissed her as a "waste of parts," and she ends up stuck on a dead planet with a guy she's never met before who is probably about ten seconds away from having a breakdown.

Yea, he was surprisingly nonchalant about getting erased from existence. Everyone who wasn't Spider-Man was. I find myself thinking back on this scene in particular. Pretty sure "I don't want to go I don't want to go" will haunt me until May 2019.

This morning's workplace debate:
If Thanos' true goal was to save the universe by killing half the population so there would be enough resources...why didn't he just create 2x the resources and not kill anybody?

This morning's workplace debate: If Thanos' true goal was to save the universe by killing half the population so there would be enough resources...why didn't he just create 2x the resources and not kill anybody? Because heโs a dick that wanted to kill people and was only using the lack of resources as a justification to do so.

Then you have to micromanage, set up distribution channels for the new resources, listen to people bugging you that hey they have special needs that aren't being met by your new resources they need gluten-free resources. It's much easier to just set the world to 50% death.

Don't you get it, man? If he does that, then he's rewarding them for their reckless populatin' and wanton misuse of resources. None of them is gonna learn anything. They're all gonna go "Cool, man, we can breed and consume as much and as fast as we want, and daddy Thanos will just make us more stuff." Something something bears in state parks, man!

So Loki and Gamorra are the only two who are actually dead for good, right? Even Gamora seems like she might get better.

So Loki and Gamorra are the only two who are actually dead for good, right? No. Unnamed Asgardians #4, #9, and #492 are never coming back dude. Same goes for the anonymous Wakanda spearwoman who died so bravely during THE FINAL SHOWDOWNยฎ.
