This is such a non-sensical, zombie franchise at this point. There hasn't been a good movie since the second one. The timeline makes no sense. They keep bringing people back - first Arnold now Linda Hamilton - hoping it sparks interest. And, because the T2 was so beloved, they keep trying to recapture the excitement for the for liquid metal terminator by adding more and more advanced robots, but the full CGI just looks shitty and cartoony. Side note: How are we still do the slow downed, pop music covers in trailers? Feel like this has out lasted the "bwaaaaamp" thing that came out after Inception. I'm not really sure I needed a dude, atonally droning a Bjork song to set the mood for "Terminator: Whatever the Hell Number This One Is." Wow they really wanted Katee Sackhoff, didn't they?
Ugh I love OG Sarah Connor so I will probably be forced to watch this and then complain endlessly about how awful it is.

I haven't bothered with any of the Terminator movies since the third one and I don't anticipate breaking that streak any time soon.

I might give this one a chance. 3 was crap, Salvation was at least okay, and I was so furious at the trailers for Genisys spoiling the entire fucking movie that I never bothered with it.
I love that Arnold actually tweeted this out and said "THIS time we're not spoiling it in the trailer!"

Yeah I saw the one with Claire Danes and then stopped after that, but this is getting me excited in a way I haven't been since watching T2 in Jr. High. So i'm in.

Did they originally want Sackhoff? I know Mackenzie Davis is a decent actress in her own right (and Canadian!) I liked her in Halt and Catch Fire and my favorite episode of Black Mirror. I also hear she was good in Blade Runner 2049, though I've not seen that one. So it doesn't seem like they are just settling for a Canadian non-union equivalent.

I am totally down for this. It looks gorgeous.
I do really like the original. Or at least I appreciate what it's doing. Could just be nostalgia though. It is a kind of boring watch these days. At least it doesn't terrify me any more like it did as a kid.

Wow, uh...I'm tempted to say "NOPE!" to this one but I want to see it at the same time. It looks pretty frickin' good.

Wow, I just clicked open this thread for the first time in months and saw this. 1926! Wasn't the book published in 1925? (Checked. Yes it was!) Dang, that is a fast turnaround.
Anyway, WOW, this trailer is very interesting.
I wonder if the film was as bad as it's rumored to be.

Well, considering the trailer is the only surviving element of the film we have... we may never know.

His adaptations are so hit and miss I have low expectations, but the trailer looks good anyway. Funny how they leaned into the Kubrick adaptation, I wonder if they needed to convince King on that one.

I mean ... look at this other trailer - it's only like a minute and a half long, and yet so compelling:
(I know you're not saying the new thing compares at all to the old thing; I only wanted to post that trailer because I like it so much. That music!)

Yeah I said "hit or miss" when I should realistically have said "mostly miss". What are the good Stephen King films? Stand By Me, Shawshank, The Shining, & Misery? I guess the new It as well. But there's plenty more that weren't that good at all, so maybe being astonished is the appropriate response if it turns out decently. Agree on the Kubrick trailer!

This actually looks pretty cool. Very intrigued by the cinematography for the flying scenes.

What fresh CGI hell is this? I never understood the appeal of the stage show, and that movie looks like nightmare fuel. Hard pass, I'll be sunning myself in a window somewhere that weekend.

What fresh CGI hell is this? I keep thinking "you know, the only way we get good CGI is by sitting through bad CGI", but how is there any cocaine left in the world after the executive who greenlit that snorted enough to make him* think "Yeah, that'll do"? * it had to be a 'him'

I think what really makes the cgi uncanny are the nosesโtheyโre clearly human noses, with no effort to make them cat-like whatsoever. My only real exposure to Cats is the Reading Rainbow segment below, but the actress even says โThe nose is my favorite partโ and colors and pencils it to break up its shape and make it more cat-like.

There is definitely something wrong with the proportions as well. Like they kept the house cat eye-to-head size ratio and now you end up with giant people faces grafted onto these weird tiny cat heads. My favorite take was someone who posted this on the Avocado:

Digital de-aging is allowing baby boomers to stay in the work force far past retirement and preventing millennial actors from getting work in Scorcese mob-films.

What is this movie? The tone looks real serious but the title is ridiculous. I saw that it's on Hulu and it has Sam Eliot so, you know, maybe it would be cool, but like, who is this for? What the hell is the plot. How does the killing Hitler thing relate to killing big foot? There are flashbacks to an alternate history WW2 but also he has to go into the woods to find the reclusive big foot because I guess an animal no one has ever seen is spreading some sort of virus some how.
This feels like if "Snakes on a Plane" ended up being a serious examination of exotic snake smuggling with a tone similar to "Blood Diamond."

I don't know what's happened that I'm excited for a Little Women adaptation but I'm just going to go with it. Woooooo Greta Gerwig and Saoirse Ronan!

What makes it horrible to me are the human arms and legs. I don't even understand why this is a thing? Why are they basically humans with cat ears? Why? WHY??
