Other than maybe Philip Seymour Hoffman's performance, I don't believe for a second that anyone is nostalgic for Twister. And this trailer makes it look impossibly stupid. The wind blows over the car but they stay on their feet? Hey the first one was also pretty dumb, but I like Bill Paxton.
When I was watching the trailer for this, I said out loud "they better follow the Alien/Aliens naming convention". And then they did!

Also, I was expecting Helen Hunt to show up as Top Gun dude's mom talking about his dad's legacy so we could land it safely in the soft reboot category and we could all be excited to see Helen Hunt's character from Twister return to the big screen. Now I'm hoping at least we get a cameo from the CGI cow. The CGI cow is the only thing in the original Twister that I remember. I do remember that Cary Elwes's evil tornado chaser was in it for the money not the science. Who was paying Elwes and his fleet of evil black SUVs to chase tornados and how that is a profitable enterprise is not a question the movie answers, but that doesn't stop me from assuming is it was a rogue splinter of the recently collapse Soviet deep state working in tandem with the Chinese government to research weather control and in order to destroy the barns of hard working Patriots in America's Heartlandโข.

Is Dune: Prophesy going to suffer from the same illogic as Game of Thrones, where thousands of years pass without any apparent technological advancement?

I don't think the Butlerian Jihad or the formation of the Guild explains why technology should be at a standstill for 10k years, unless you remember something I don't. Humans make tools.

Well, Dune would have a canon explanation for that if so. I don't think the Butlerian Jihad or the formation of the Guild explains why technology should be at a standstill for 10k years, unless you remember something I don't. Humans make tools. But humans in the world of Dune are fundamentally different than us because they live in a fictional world. But I just generally have a different approach to suspending disbelief for sci-fi and fantasy. I've already accepted space worms and spice, why would I get angry if the world of Dune doesn't work the way our world does? Anyway, even without that, this is a world that will approach technology from a different perspective because of those canon events. It's never going to be that kind of high tech.
