It has been sunny and in the high 70's this entire weekend. We were able to wrap up some fall maintenance and winter prep. I opened all the windows today, it's 9PM now, they're still open, and it's still warm in the house. Sleeping with the windows open in November and not freezing your ass off is pretty rare in this part of the world, and I'm going to enjoy it.

We slept with the windows open last night, and it was wonderful.

We slept with the windows open last night, and it was wonderful. We've actually had our bedroom windows open since... sometime last week. Whenever it started to hit 70 during the day. It's very weird to have this long of a stretch of 70-degree weather in early November, but I'm enjoying it.

It's supposed to hit 78 today. Go home, November, you're drunk.

Hugs and I normally treat Sunday morning as our big cardio workout day, a remnant from back when we were doing weekly long runs for marathon training. Normally that means putting in an hour or so on the machines in our home gym, but when the weather is really nice and mild, we'll sometimes junk those plans in favor of a long walk.
Yesterday we both agreed it was too hot out to junk our indoor-workout plans. TOO HOT OUT! In November!
(It should be noted that we've been doing the occasional brunch with a few friends in one of their backyards. Last month we all freaked out that our outdoor entertainment season was rapidly coming to an end, so we scheduled a last-ditch brunch outing until, we all figure, next spring. The event was last Sunday. It was 50 degrees and pouring, and we ended up having to huddle at opposite ends of a cluttered front porch, eating cold brunchstuffs. So naturally the next week there were blue-ribbon skies and 80-degree weather.)

There's a snowstorm due to hit my area, and I swear every time I look at it the forecast adds another inch to the projected totals, like an insecure man on a dating board.

It's supposed to be 75 tomorrow. Winter has arrived! I have to say, I think living here has altered my mood around Christmas. It feels so strange when it is warm and sunny and there is Christmas music playing. How do people in the Southern Hemisphere feel about this, I wonder?

Our first snow of the season this afternoon & evening, changing to freezing rain overnight thankfully I don’t need to go anywhere tomorrow and it’ll warm up enough that roads should be ok. But first it will be a mess!

We’ve had some snow this winter, but not much more than an inch at a time. That’s likely to change Monday, we could get 6 to 10 inches, mostly evening and overnight. It does seem like we often get bigger snowfall totals in late Jan and early feb but I’m not sure why.

Rain! RAIN!!! We have rain! It has been raining off and on for the last two days. I think this was two different storms passing through. This is so exciting! We haven't seen any rain in months and months and months. The local rain gauge says there has been .5" of rain at my apartment in the last two days. We only had 5" all of 2020.
About .3" of this fell from 1-3pm today. It was pouring! It was wonderful! This is a COLD storm. The high temperature here was something like 51 degrees today. It was in the 40s until noon.
The outer suburbs are at higher elevation. There is video of hail and even snow in those areas today. Like, it was snowing at 2:30pm today in one of the outer suburbs of Phoenix. This is *very cold* storm. The low tonight is supposed to be 35 degrees.
Checked the national forecast, and it looks like we are getting the worst of this one. Supposed to weaken as it moves east. Ha! Finally! We get the rain and snow instead of everyone else.

It's snowing! We're supposed to get a couple of inches of snow, then be really cold for a day or two.

So it's been really dreary and really cold the past several days, but when I went outside a couple hours ago it was sunny and much warmer.
We're now supposed to get snow tonight.

Apparently we’re due for more snow this weekend, up to 9 inches Saturday night into Sunday. Which is honestly the ideal time for a snowstorm.

More RAIN! It rained again yesterday! Three days of rain within one week! This is amazing! The rain gauge outside said there was .72" of rain this week. Fantastic! Again, there were 5" all of last year.
This may be one of the only places on earth where rain actually improves the mood of the residents.

Apparently we’re due for more snow this weekend, up to 9 inches Saturday night into Sunday. Which is honestly the ideal time for a snowstorm. Yep, it snowed all night and most of Sunday. We have maybe 14-15 inches on the ground now? I'm not sure what the official totals were. But we're now at the point where we won't see bare grass until late March or April probably, because even if it warms up a little, it's not enough to melt all of the big piles everywhere.

It snowed more yesterday/overnight, and now it is cold as HELL out there. Sunny, but gusty winds and it's currently 13 degrees with a windchill of 8. And this cold snap will last for about a week, it looks like, with only a few highs in double digits. Brr. Time to get the big sleeping-bag coat out.

It's still snowing, already having dumped 5" on top of the 18" we got last week. The 10-day says more snow Tuesday and a lot more Thursday. February is like "sorry your snow was delayed 'cause of the rona, here's some extra to make up for it".

Temperature's hovering around freezing, and my weather app has given up trying to predict if it's going to be snow or rain (or sleet or freezing rain). Who even knows anymore?!

We finally, finally got above freezing and should have a whole week of relatively sunny skies and no precipitation.
Of course this also means that we had a small ice dam above our garage that got the ceiling soggy and dripping, and the landscapers who cleared our walks and driveways also scraped up our lawns, so everything will be muddy. Yech.

Five days ago the high was 18F and the low was 1F.
Today we expect a high of 76, it's already 68, and my house is too hot.

It was down in the single digits a couple of days ago, and today it's over 50F and we have the heat shut off and the windows open, trying to air the house out.

It was 85 degrees today. It was warm enough in my apartment that I had to turn on the ceiling fans. Marking the date: March 8th.
I believe this is later than in 2020, which was too hot.
