Today: 90 Tuesday: 85 Wednesday: 84 Thursday: 62 Friday: 54
..... go home, mother nature, you're drunk.
(the forecast does improve after that, but also, I've noticed you can really only truly rely on it for about 3-4 days and after that it tends to change a lot.)

We had several days in a row in the 80s, which ended today. But wow! 80s in mid-to-late May?? We were apparently 10 degrees below normal one of those days.
We are forecast to be around 10 degrees cooler than May 2020 was for the next week. Both in high and low temperature. Should still be hitting low 70s at night instead of mid 80s like last year.
This is wonderful news. May 2020 was freaking hot.

Wednesday it got up into the 90's here, and we turned on the AC. Yesterday it cooled down and we opened the windows. Tonight, we had to close the windows and build a fire, it's going to get down into the 40's tonight and tomorrow night. I saw lots of people on the road today pulling boats and campers for the long holiday weekend. I drove past a lakeside campground. There were lots of people there, but none of them really looked happy.

Ugh, June has arrived. Sunday the 12th through Sunday the 20th are all supposed to be 110+. Also 6/14-6/17 are supposed to be 115+.
My vacation is next week. My family was supposed to come visit. I just called and said I'd go up north and visit them instead.

In "be careful what you wish for" news: The temperatures this week are 2-3 degrees lower than predicted! ......... Because there is a massive fire in the northern part of the state, and the smoke has moved over the city, creating a haze that is partially blocking the sun.

Holy fuck is it hot today. Heat index of 112 and humid. It's the kind of hot where you stand outside for 5 minutes, barely moving, and just feel the sweat beads forming.

It has been really miserable, drippy ball sweat weather here the last couple of days, right up until about 4PM today, when a storm came through. Even before the rain started, the temperature dropped at least 20 degrees. Somebody somewhere close got some hail. Had to. The storms were really localized, I guess. I drove through a downpour, but at home, maybe 10 miles away, we had some damaging wind, but only a shower.

Well, I am pretty sure I just lived through a hurricane in Phoenix. Wow. That was one hell of a thunderstorm! I got a series of weather alerts from NWS today that over about 20 minutes quickly escalated from "Flash Flood Watch" to "Thunderstorm Watch" to "Flash Flood WARNING" to "Thunderstorm Warning" to "SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING" to "SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SEVERELY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS OF 80mph ARE DETECTED IN YOUR AREA. TAKE SHELTER IMMEDIATELY. AVOID WINDOWS." Yeah, no shit! My front door was shaking. The north facing windows were shaking BADLY. It was a bit alarming. The wind lifted some of the metal roofs off the carports out front. The wind started peeling one of them apart, leaving one metal plank to blow across the metal roof and into the wall next door. The sound was awful. The rain was what I would describe as "a wall of rain". Visibility dropped to zero. It was just sheets and sheets of rain. This was crazy. Probably the most intense thunderstorm I've ever been in. This went on for about 25 minutes. Wild stuff.
Edited: Just checked the nearest rain gauge. It's at .72" in the last 45 minutes. We only get 8" of rain all YEAR. Rain falling at a rate of 1"/hr is extremely destructive because it will cause flash floods. Yes, less than 1" of rain in Phoenix can cause flash floods.

Sounds like a potential derecho, they're essentially inland hurricanes that move very fast and can spawn tornadoes. That's what ripped through Iowa last year (and spawned some tornadoes in my area too). We had some pretty serious thunderstorms last week, and a tree across the street got split down the middle and is STILL lying in two pieces (with one remaining upright) across our neighbor's lawn.

We don't get any derecho storms here. The climate and terrain don't support it. Our monsoons function very differently. What we had was likely a microburst. This only affected a very small area of town. Wind of 80mph is very unusual. I may ask the NWS Phoenix twitter account if this was verified. They've been good at responding to questions lately.

mid September was pretty lovely and then it got warm again. We freaking turned our AC back on on October 1st. And now it's cooler but it's not "proper" fall - should be 65-75 during the day and 15 to 20 degrees cooler at night. Instead it's like, 72 during the day, 63 at night. Barely a temperature change. And gloomy and kinda humid with chances of rain. I want to wear my sweaters! I want cozy fall weather!

Move here! You can apparently get away with calling it sweater weather at ridiculously warm temperatures. Today we had a front pass over the state which temporarily dropped the temperature in the city to a high of 71 degrees. Everyone on local tv and radio was going nuts over this, saying it is now "sweater weather".
It's 70 degrees, folks! This is why people from other states think we're weird.
Maybe they didn't look past today in the forecast? Wed: 75, Thu: 79, Fri: 84, Sat: 90.
I still wore short sleeves and sandals.

Yeah see sweaters come out at 60-65ish, depending on the humidity level and my activity level. 70 is still t-shirt and no socks. But no offense I hate being super hot, there's no way I'd voluntarily move to Phoenix

We're under a tornado warning for the next 20 minutes. On the radar it looks like it's a ways west of us. Not even storming here so far, although it is thundering a little now.

We got woke up a few times from tornado warnings over the phone last night, and we spent some time in the basement, but haven't seen any damage on the farm today. I haven't heard if there was any damage anywhere close to us.

December was a warmer than normal, almost snowless month but later today a winter storm is coming (4-9 inches of snow) and then it’s going to get very, very cold for a few days.

The temperature has been yo-yoing more than usual (highs in the 70s, lows in the 30s), which is making figuring out the balance between blankets and clothes at night more difficult than usual. Last night was the first night in a while I didn't wake up in the middle of the night either roasting or freezing.

The rain has turned to sleet here, it was almost 60 yesterday, but it is supposed to get down to 9 here tonight. We just brought the baby goat back into the basement. He had been outside in a fenced in dog pen with a nice DogLoo dog house and was warm and dry, but I'm not going to slog out there in the sleet and ice in single digit weather at 2AM to bottle feed him. He better appreciate this.

Welcome to March in northern Illinois, where it was 58 yesterday, 29 today, 67 on Saturday and 38 with possible snow by Monday. It was in the high 60's here yesterday, and I ran errands in the convertible with the top down, and today its in the 40's, cold and damp. We're thinking about a day trip for Saturday when it's nice out. It's supposed to be in the 70's here.
