Yeah, but I'm in Arizona, so I'm used to fugly jerseys. Did you see what the DBacks were wearing as their uniform a couple seasons ago? Ye Gods! All of what you said is true. But getting lucky in the expansion draft is still getting lucky in the expansion draft. No matter how much more favorable the rules are. And it is amusing me to see so many teams going in there and losing. Guys, this isn't that hard. When I said Vegas was local-ish, let me explain by saying that in high school and college we often had conferences and competitions in Vegas. One time - in Vegas! - our choir director literally gave us $40 each one night and said "Go have fun!" the night before a major performance. We were all fine to perform the next morning. Because we weren't stupid. If college kids can do this, then hockey teams can do this. While I agree with you... $40 is easier to be smart with than kids who never went to college and have more money than god  |

When you think about it, shouldn't all the San Jose Sharks constantly be in the penalty box because the stick in the Sharks logo is clearly broken, and yet they never rip the logo off of their own jerseys and discard it for the refs to pick up and remove from the ice before continuing to play?

Did Dion Phaneuf just get traded in the middle of the game? Yeah, he left during the second period and never came back. Funny thing is the Kings play here Thursday, so he gets another shot at playing the Penguns then. Bizarre trade too but I guess Gaborik's actual salary is lower and that's what cheap-ass Melnyk cares about. |

Ugh, I didn't watch any NHL while the Olympics was going. I feel out of it now. I came back just in time to miss the trade deadline. Now I have a bunch of news articles to sift through.
Damn you, NHL. Just let your players go to the Olympics next time!

Those white Maple Leafs uniforms are...... something. Wow. How long until Auston Matthews is back? He's my primary Leafs-related rooting interest.
The Coyotes are almost not the worst team in the NHL! They're only 1 point behind Buffalo! Might as well aim for second-to-last place. It isn't like ending up in last place will help them in the draft order. Ahem. (Still bitter.)

Last I heard, Matthews was out for "another two weeks", although who really knows.
The special outdoor game uniforms were certainly special, but the only reason they make a new uniform every time is so that Leafs fans with more money than brains will keep buying new ones. (I do kind of want a white and green St. Pat's jersey though...)

Watched the Coyotes game vs Florida today. Coyotes looked good for 2 periods and then collapsed in the 3rd. Florida started playing desperate in the third. Completely overwhelmed the Coyotes.
But, overall, it was okay. Clayton Keller is looking really good this year. Hope to see him keep improving into next season.

I guess this is technically the first time an emergency goalie played a significant amount of time, but wasn't there some old-timey players who were also backup goalies? Like, a coach stepped into the game as a goalie once, I'm pretty sure. I thought it was Frank Boucher but I don't know...it was in the 30s or 40s probably.

Whoa. St. Louis? I thought y'all were trying to make the playoffs? Didn't you get the memo? The Coyotes aren't crap anymore. They won 10 games in March! They've only won 28 games all season!
My God, the Blues looked exhausted. I know they played last night in Vegas, but wow. Wowee, NHL, feel free to schedule more teams in here on the night after they play in Vegas. Back-to-back, playing Hutton in goal instead of Allen. (Edit: Let me clarify: Allen started the game, but was pulled after the 2nd goal.) Ugh, Hutton looked terrible. Coyotes were just scoring at will, basically. Coyotes beat them up. Wow.
Anti Raanta, oh my God, he's been awesome over the last 2 months, or so. Out of this world awesome over the last week. Should get some consideration for Player of the Week. Gave up 1 goal to Tampa in Tampa. Gave up 2 goals to Vegas in Vegas. Just had a shutout against St. Louis. Has got something like a 96-97% save rate over the last 10 days, or so.
I'm sold! Get this man a contract.
Domi's looked good lately. Keller looks great over the last couple months. Chychrun is finally back and playing well. Strome may finally be figuring it out.
Wow, I'm officially excited for next season.
Edit: Ah, since March is now over, I can post this: Winning month! Wooo! 10-6-1 in March. That is more like it, Coyotes! Have now moved into 3rd-to-last place. Yeah! No tanking for this team. We all know we won't be rewarded by the Draft Lottery. (Yeah, still bitter over 2015.) Fans are loving it. The game tonight was a sell out. Sell out for a division-last place team, on a night the Diamondbacks had a home game with a major giveaway. Great job, Coyotes!
You know, if you are going to have a season that is 1/2 crappy and 1/2 good, I'd much rather have the good part come at the end. Sure, it means you're out of the playoffs. But, I've experienced teams that fall apart in the second half, and that feels terrible. At least this way I am genuinely excited about next season.

Don’t mind me, I’m just over here crying quietly as I watch replays of Daniel Sedin scoring that final overtime goal. Basically all the real disappointments of my life have involved hockey, but sometimes it’s great.
