Don’t mind me, I’m just over here crying quietly as I watch replays of Daniel Sedin scoring that final overtime goal. Basically all the real disappointments of my life have involved hockey, but sometimes it’s great. Even though I'm mad that the Coyotes pretty much gave up playing in that game, it did end exactly as it should have ended. It was a great send off for the Sedin twins. I loved being able to see all the festivities and tributes. They are a pair of great players. It is fantastic that they got to play so long together. Loved seeing all the Coyotes players go out to shake their hands after the game. And the Coyotes broadcast ran an hilarious graphic in the 3rd period that listed all the Coyotes players who were 2-3 years old when the Sedin twins started playing in the NHL. OMG, this was great. I burst out laughing.

Dustin Brown scored 4 goals, and now has the most points in a season for his career. I would have never thought this was possible after the last few years he had. Taking captain away really lit a fire under his ass, also doesn't hurt that Anze Kopitar is having his best season either and is a legit Hart Trophy candidate, while Doughty is for sure gonna be at least a finalist for the Norris.

Oh baby... oh baby baby... thank you for not ruining this Avs. What a comeback after one of the most embarrassing seasons in NHL history.
It's all bonus games from here. If we win 1-2 games in the playoffs I'm happy. It's just so damn good for the growth of this weird, young team to finally make it back to the dance. What a game. Respect at last.
My heart goes out to Humboldt. It's been really something watching the hockey community rally around this, much like they did for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl a few years ago.

The Rangers fired Alain Vigneault within minutes, haha. Surely this season is not entirely his fault...like, he's not responsible for trading away any semblance of defence...

I get that the Rangers have decided they want a new coach focused on developing their young players (who will probably get tossed for someone with pedigree just as they're ready to start winning) but man, firing Vigneault the instant the season was over like your decision to trade away players and start tanking was his fault? At least wait a week and do it with a bit more class, the guy was an excellent coach for you.

I remember when the rangers were in the finals against the kings the east coast media couldn't slobber over the rangers hard enough. HA HA.

Let's play: Who should I root for in the playoffs? Make your case! I could try to go the high road and tell you how good of an organization the Preds are and how active they are in the community, but really I just want the Hawks fans who like to launch into tirades when they see me wearing Preds gear to be even grumpier because who doesn't love a surly Hawks fan? Three Stanley Cups in nine years and all they want to do is complain about Southern hockey and the Preds' ticket shenanigans.

I will always enjoy rooting for things that make Hawks fans angry. That never stops being amusing. I don't have a strong rooting interest in that Avs/Preds matchup. This might be enough to convince me. Would our resident Avs supporter like to make a counter case? Kangaroosevelt-EcksI also don't have a rooting interest in Minnesota/Winnipeg. Toronto/Boston = Toronto b/c Auston Matthews For Flyers/Pens, I have to root for the Pens, because I don't like the Flyers at all. Kings/Vegas is clear: Vegas all the way. New Jersey/Tampa - Meh, probably Tampa Washington/Columbus - I really don't know. Part of me wants to see the Caps break their playoff futility, but part of me enjoys it. Sharks/Ducks - Blech. Can't they both lose?

Go Jets, Go Sharks, and in the east... wow I hate everyone.
Go Devils I guess because they aren't Toronto, Boston or Philly, no one sane wants the pens to win, Fuck tampa forever, washington futility is funny and never ever cheer for Tortorella.
Also I would enjoy the collective oiler fan teeth gnashing at seeing Taylor Hall hoist the the cup before McDavid.

Kangaroosevelt-Ecks I also don't have a rooting interest in Minnesota/Winnipeg. Hey, if you want to join our little bandwagon you're into dreaming big, that's for sure. MacKinnon's taken the big step to bonafide superstar, Landeskog and Rantanen help fill out one of the best top lines in hockey... but that's probably all we've got as far as championship-caliber goes this year. Our top goalie (Varlamov) is injured yet again, our top defenseman (Erik Johnson) is injured yet again, our D is... not mediocre anymore, but still young. There's more coming up in the minors. We're probably a year or two from fully realizing the potential here, so as I mentioned before- I'll be happy if we sneak one or two games from Nashville because I'm not expecting much more than that from this young squad. I'd just hope that they actually keep the momentum going this time... as opposed to how we failed to do so after Joe Sacco's first year (09-10 playoffs, nothing after) or Patrick Roy's first year (13-14 playoffs, nothing after)... please god, just some long-term stability please However it's all good if you want to root for the Preds. Great fanbase and I will always support whoever sticks it to the Northeast-biased jagoffs at NBC (I was really pulling for Phoenix back in 2012!). Have it be a Nashville/Tampa Bay Stanley Cup, I want to see some executive head-popping a la Scanners. One of the few teams in the Central Terrordome Division that I can openly respect. What you shouldn't do is root for Minnesota. State of Hockey my ass. Try winning something before you go acting like the big bully of Central. No respect. They're dead set on creating a big rivalry with the Avs but all it really does is make us miss the good old days where we had that killer rivalry with Detroit.

Well since your local team is Jets 1.0, why not root for 2.0? The Jets have been super fun to watch this year, and our fan base isn't obnoxious like those fuckin greasy mustard tigers fans in Nashville. Also, we're fuckin good but still an underdog team who are terrified to get their hopes up too high.

I'll be supporting the Preds again, which certainly feels a lot less underdoggish this time around, but then again in two years my actual favorite team will be celebrating the longest playoff drought in NHL history. I'd be fine with the Avs winning if it weren't for the fact that last season they tanked far more egregiously than Buffalo did in '14-'15 and nobody called them out on it, in addition to the fact that they're a team whose core was more or less built around tanking.

I do have family in Nashville. I could get behind the Preds. Jets 2.0 look pretty good.
Sharks seem like they really want to not lose in the first round, which is nice. Don't know if they could win in the 2nd round. Won't bother rooting for the Caps, b/c Caps.
We'll see, I guess.

And that blatant trip when your team just went on the PP (and is trying to get back in the series) is yet another reason why you don't deserve to be captain anymore Brown.

(inhales fictional cigarette) nice one Avs... scare Smashville with that youthful rage. Hard-flying and chaotic. Natty Mack talkin' shit with PK Subban in the sin bin. Driving Pekka Rinne off the ice (!) That was better than your average 8th seed freebie upset win- we legitimately got'em pissed! Dunno where it goes from here but the boys are finally growing some playoff legs. It's been a fun series so far.

Yay Sharks!
Now hopefully the Jets have had a rest after their blizzard adventure and can put the Wild on the brink.

Holy SHIT, Andrew Hammond! Instant Denver legend! That was one hell of a game. Hambone is in their heads. Much as I haaaaate the Avs (even if it's been hard to justify for a while) that win was definite karma. Whether or not you think that was a kick (and boy it sure looked like it to me) with the call being no-goal on the ice it definitely wasn't conclusive enough to overturn even if you think it went the other way. Honestly I think the call made on the ice should have stood either way it was originally made.

Well, it was a good run. I got everything I'd hoped for out of this series. Things are looking bright.
Why the Avs hate, Baron? Old memories?

Combo of their old owner being such a dickhead and selling the team to be moved just as they were about to become a powerhouse and the divisional rivalry with Calgary days. Edit: I feel bad that Hammond had such a bad game, even with losing a second strong start probably would have gotten him a better new contract but that certainly didn't do anything to change his rep as a hot and cold goalie.
