Seems you have to click on the 'comments' tab to open a new and feeble window. Presumably this is to sicken even the most die-hard fan, which I'm not. I'm not really a fan of Die Hard either. Ah. There's no comments tab visible in Chrome. Yay. I use chrome and I have no problem seeing it when I click on "comments". It is, however, hideous, and no one's avatars are showing up.

Weird - I'm on chrome and I don't see it anywhere. No "comments" button to click as far as I can see. Do you use adblock?

I have Simple Adblock for Chrome but I also see the comment button at the bottom of each article right beside the Facebook and Twitter buttons. I do concur that this style of pop-up comments is worse than the My Lai Massacre. Also, how come some of us have black stars and others green stars on here? Is this a secret classification scheme for marking out potential defectors? I remain loyal to the tenets of Marxism-Leninism!

It was mentioned yesterday in, of all places, the f@tm@n notice thread.

I spend more than enough time commenting online as it is.

I, um... I seem to be receiving guest upvotes again. Is that happening for anyone else? Could our long nightmare of underappreciated comments be over?

DISQUS: Much better than we thought it was I still feel dizzy from the 20 minutes I spent there.

So, does anyone know a convenient way to download or otherwise save comment sections? I’ve documented a few of the classics with screencaps but an AVQ&A I saved yesterday took over 500 to capture and way far too time consuming. I’m thinking of making some kind of archive for the Trek Classic review comments, but neither screencapping nor copying-and-pasting into text files (which is less cumbersome but would require a lot of editing to be legible due to how disqus’s formatting translates into text) seems practical for that kind of project, and the fact that there are ~17 seasons worth of reviews (whereas I just screencapped a handful of classics) means that some kind of quicker approach would be desirable.

I did figure out a somewhat less cumbersome way—although comments don’t usually print, if you select all in the comments and then go to “print selected only” you can generate a pdf of the comments. Doesn’t do a lot to solve speed issues—they’re not small (“The Inner Light,” which was posted after DS9 reviews were announced and was a flurry of excitement, is 26.8 MB), but it’s simpler and something I’ll do gradually.

Brain twins! I just posted this on the Biggest Blunders. Kinja is a dealbreaker for me: I just will not use it. I guess it'll be just here and The Avocado for me!

A recruitment push for TI before they annihilate the current setup, perhaps? Yeah, I'm going to start mentioning the article and both this and The Avocado on Reasonable Discussions regularly. Maybe we can get people to do the same in highly frequented posts like WOT and Weekend Box Office.

Ha ha ha, who's even talking about Disqus these days?? Anyway I have decided to retire the old ganews account. I want to make a bizarro ganews disqus account in case for some reason I have something to say at the Avocado or somewhere else. So I registered that name at disqus.com with an alternate email, it accepted me, I can see a profile and everything. But I can't actually make a comment anywhere because every site brings a pop-up that says disqus must send a verification email. And it never does. Easy suggestions, before I read all 8 pages of this thread?
